The mongols are only barely playable and then massively overpowered for the player.

I'd recommend playing a different faction (not hedjaz or aztecs).

I'm playing mongols 2. Not a single CTD, but my I can't shake of the constant civil war...
Thorolf was thus armed. Then Thorolf became so furious that he cast his shield on his back, and, grasping his halberd with both hands, bounded forward dealing cut and thrust on either side. Men sprang away from him both ways, but he slew many. Thus he cleared the way forward to earl Hring's standard, and then nothing could stop him. He slew the man who bore the earl's standard, and cut down the standard-pole. After that he lunged with his halberd at the earl's breast, driving it right through mail and body, so that it came out at the shoulders; and he lifted him up on the halberd over his head, and planted the butt-end in the ground. There on the weapon the earl breathed out his life in sight of all, both friends and foes. [...] 53, Egil's Saga
I must tell you here of some amusing tricks the Comte d'Eu played on us. I had made a sort of house for myself in which my knights and I used to eat, sitting so as to get the light from the door, which, as it happened, faced the Comte d'Eu's quarters. The count, who was a very ingenious fellow, had rigged up a miniature ballistic machine with which he could throw stones into my tent. He would watch us as we were having our meal, adjust his machine to suit the length of our table, and then let fly at us, breaking our pots and glasses.

yea retarded. i couldnt keep my kids in castles for like 15-20 more turns until the drill square got built. so they're all brutes now. im being attacked by kiev and novgorod all day so i had to use em in the field as defense.

to the guy who said mongols are overpowered lmao. mongol horse archers cost like 1680 and mongol infantry cost 1750. which cities can you get this early that provides enough income to build up your cities AND make a unit that isn't completely worthless? try playing the mongols. vh/vh, you'll get crushed.

im barely finishing off georgia and it's like turn 70. i gotta keep repelling the russians until i can field a counterattack force which isn't going to happen forever maybe because horse archers cost 1600. below me are the turks and they have huge cities and already and i still have large wooden walled towns pretty much. overpowered ya lmao

At the moment you're in "only barely playable", soon enough you'll be in "and then massively overpowered" and you'll understand what I meant

? before mongol units started costing 1.6k they were overpowered

now, when you're expanding southwards to get towns for income, novgorod and kiev are hitting your capital all day. between retraining casualties in the north and construction, theres hardly any money for expansion south until you can push the endless stacks back and take a russian castle. when your hordes arrive then it gets easier, hardly op, but until then its a challenge
