Try to beat that! 600 elves beat 2500 orcs!

Hello,

I impressed myself with this battle siege result.
I was playing the Silvan Elf faction in a large town I just had upgraded with Wooden palissade (thank God!) and I was assaulted by a huge army of 2600 orcs! (I only had about 600 Elves)

Well I won and only about 200 of my men survived! Try to beat that!

That's a ratio of 1 to 4 against the odds!

Check the picture below for proof...

Here is how I did: I positioned all my archers on the palissade: 2 on the left, 2 on the right...

1- I focused my fire on the Ram and Ladders so that would make my fighting task easier...

2- Once they were too close to the palissades I focused my fire on the Orc Archers so that they wouldn't decimate my Infantry men inside (and my archers too)..

3- Once the first Heavy Infantry Orcs (yes Heavy Infantry!) were on the palissade I sent archers fighting hand to hand and I kept the 2 other archers squads on the right shooting at the massed attackers.
I did 'nt use fire arrows since they are less accurate and efficient...

Once my Town door was crushed I immediately sent all my Foot soldiers to block the entrance..

This way my Active Archers could keep shooting at the attackers...

4- I thought I woulod be overwhelmed but my Pike men were very efficient at keeping them out even in very inferior number..In the meanwhile my archers were littarrly crushing them with arrows....

5- My general bodyguards did crush half of heavy infantrymen on the palissade, and I thought I would lose my General but I didn't...Without them I would have been overwhelmed...

6- Finally the first Orcs units (skirmishers) started fleeing and then all others followed! I won! My archers finished off the last attackers and I won the battle...

Big deal. I won defensive siege battles against 5000 orcs with ~1000 militia level units.

I don't want to rain on your parade, but this is not that hard as elves are much stronger that Orcs.

yeah but playing on easy and letting the siege towers smite down the enemy while you hide in the castle dont count

Unnecessary. In a citadel you can successfully defend against 5,000 even if 2 battle troll units are included on attacker side. Found that out the hard way after assaulting Minas Morgul at turn 16 as Gondor ...

Yes, it is possible playing offensively to win against very ugly odds like axnsan said. The best though scenario is the siege relieve, where you can even beat 20:1 just by playing defensively for a draw...

Battles like this happen every turn when playing against orc enemies. It's really nothing special.

) nice battle there ... but I won battles with 7-800 Elves against 6-7000 orcs ... and I didn't benefit from Defensive Settlement it was a battle on open land ... no Heroic Victory ... but I manage to kill 80-90% of the orcs and I kept like 2-300 elves alive at the end of the battle
