A Lord of the Rings AAR-by Kallum

    The beginning of our war

My orders were simple: go to Eryn Dolen and find out the reason why I haven't heard from them since we got that messenger from the Dark Lord, I do not dare to speak his name out loud for I'm afraid I will be victim of some kind foul sorcery, that was my order given by my noble king Thranduil of Mirkwood

My name is Falathar, I am an noblemen at the court of King Thranduil. Because I'm a member of the Silvan clan, I'm charged with the defence of our southern border.

This is my king Thranduil of Mirkwood

This is his son and heir to the throne Legolas

    Arriving at Eryn Dolen

I marched to Eryn Dolen with 500 Elven warriors, for you never know what lurks behind the dark trees of the south. When we were near Eryn Dolen our scouts asked me to come with them. they took me to a clearing near a stream, what we saw was horrific.

uncountable brethren of us lay there, some were missing limps others were missing their heads, those heads were posted on spears that have been put in the ground. We went back to our camp and said what we have seen. We all decided to give our dead brethren the rest and burial they deserve. It took us 2 days to bury all them all but it was worth the effort for we all know what orcs do when they encouter dead flesh.

We now all knew what happened to the town of Eryn Dolen, and we decided to kill every orc who resided there to avenge our brothers and sisters death.

The orc-garrison of Eryn Dolen was large and normally we elves wouldn't attack such a force

Before we attacked I said to my fellow warriors: Let us avenge our brothers and sisters death, let our bows sing the song of death Orcs, show no mercy as they haven't shown us mercy, kill them all

So we attacked, the orcs sallied out thinking we were just as easy to defeat as their last adversary

They never even reached our lines

the first sally was completly and utterly destroyed, however our arrowquivers were empty, luckily for us, among the dead orcs we found an entire archer battalion, who didn't even fired one arrow, we decided to use these arrows as our own. Seeing what fate their fellow orcs had overcome the rest of the garrison waited for our move.

so we advanced into the city, the orcs who saw us moving in attacked us again

Again Elvish eyes, weapons and speed has been superior to that of the Orcs. we gave them the option of withdrawal to the center of the town or to attack, because they are orcs they naturally made the wrong choice by attacking us, they again never reached us.

We lost but a few because in their final assault the orcs apparently had a few archers who killed 4 of us but still we had a great victory

When we marched inside the city and went looking for food, one of my men found a huge basement where we found a small part of the former inhabitants who lived here. They said to us that the orcs came to them at the night of the great feast where we always celebrate the great crop turnout. because of the suprise attack none was ready and the few guards never had a chance. the greatest part of the population would be send to the king under escort of an contigent of orcs. After 4 days the orcs came back saying that they got hungry. When we asked why we still lived they simply said: We don't like Elf food but we do like Elf and we need slaves to help our wounds. When we told them that the Elves hadn't been eated by the orcs but were massacred they were sad and happy for they now could give them a proper funeral close to their former homes.

I was happy and afraid. Happy because not al Elves were beeing killed and therefore Eryn Dolen would once again prosper as a Elven city. But I was afraid that the orcs had been here, where was the elven border guard to keep these orcs at bay. I decide to go east to another Elvish place hoping that this city would have been unharmed from orcish hands. I let my personal archer brigand here to guard the citizens and I would go by myself and my body guard.

After 3 hours of walking we decided to rest. When we rested an messenger from Thranduil found us, I told him what had happenend here and he told me that our noble king had already thought that and that he was raising an army who would be commanded by his son Legolas, that army would protect the human kingdom of Dale to the east of our lands, for their king had begged us for help as his army was just a group of militia, but we gained also as their lands were very rich and that would be good for our trade income.

Thanks to the alliance with the people of Dale we also gained another, this time very strong, ally the Dwarves, who offered to help us to protect the people of Dale

I wasn't sure what to think about this the dwarves have betraid us once and the people of Dale would prefer the dwarves over us because of the their abundance of gold and silver metal. The dwarves will at a certain point be fed up with us as we all know they don't like us. I don't like the idea of a war against the dwarves and the people of Dale so maybe that his peace can prevent this, but I have a bad feeling about this

    Betrayal

I marched east to the town called Emyn nu Fuin, just as Eryn Dolen the area belonged to my king, but we haven't heard from them in a while.

When I arrived near Emyn nu Fuin from a distance I could see the smoke of sacking. Orcs had been here! Me and my bodyguard went searching for a mass grave as was the case with Eryn Dolen, we searched for hours but we couldn't find anything. There were 2 options or the Elves were transported to Mordor to begin a live of slavery and death or they were being held captive in a basement as we have seen in Eryn Dolen, either way both options weren't favourable. So I suggested to attack the settlement, one of my captains Indrell he is named, remembered me that my rangers were still in Eryn Dolen to help restore the place. I send Indrell to get my Rangers while me and my bodyguard hold guard on the orcs.

While we were waiting for reinforcements, a small Dalian army arrived. However they weren't small in numbers as we were and they attacked immediatly, I rejoiced for we could use al help we could get.

(this battle description is made up)
The Dalians attacked at night, completly capturing the orcs by suprise, they attacked from 3 sides, from the sideways and a frontal assault. There infantry marched via the east and west entrance their cavalry from the front. the Dalians lost many however for the orcs are experts in fighting at night. but the Dalians won.

But the next event completly gave reason to my bad feeling about our alliance with them. Just as in Eryn Dolen the Elven inhabitants were found in a basement however for as I know it was the entire population wich explains why we didn't found any corpses in the forests. The Elves were released rejoice!! but then from liberators the Dalians changed in to massacers. They exterminated the entire population they only let the children live. We couldn't let this go over our side, a few hours later the reinforcements from Eryn Dolen arrived and we let our battle horn blow they will know what fate lies to those who betray us.

Their army had taken heavy losses during their fight with the Orcs but they stil had a strong army including cavalry

our battleplan was simple we would attack from both sides, I would lead the assault from the North

Whilst Captain Indrel attacked from the south

Unlike the orcs the Dalians waited for our move with patience. As usual we attacked with our bowmen, we shot arrow after arrow, whilst their bowmen managed to hurt a few of us they never had a chance and all end up dead

While I was making advance to the town centre, captain Indrell was faced with the elite of the Dalian army the honor swords who engaged the captain in battle

The fighting was going bad for the captain and he started to lose men, however a bright archer captain led our archers to the back of the honor swords and they shot them in the back. The honorswords demoralised by this course of events fled but they never made it to the centre

The Dalians knowing the battle was going bad, made a last effort, they knew who the leader of this army was a.k.a. me and there captain charged me head on

These men were desperate and were capable fighters, resulting in a fight were many men became wounded, but our archers again proved their worth by killing the enemy captain.

We had won but many men were wounded and we also lost a few. one thing is certain these men are stronger adversaries than the orcs

The dwarves heard what the Dalians did to our people and broke the alliance between them and the Dalians.

The Dwarves had chosen us as their allies I still couldn't believe it, but this is good for it means we have a very powerfull ally who can help us in our war with the orcs and perhaps in our war with the Dalians for I cannot believe they will leave our massacre of their soldiers unpunished we shall see what will happen

Legolas starts building a defensive line near the border with the Dalians so we can easily eridicate the hostile incursions, I hope it doesn't come to that

now that we have the majority of mirkwood back under our control we can now lay our eyes on Dol Guldur our old capital. but now the second capital of the dark lord and his orcs. I hope that when we finally attack Dol Guldur, we will not face the Nazgūl who once in a while take residence there.

    The silence before the storm

many weeks past for whe received message from Thranduil about what to do next. the message reads as follows

    My dear Falather,

Your good deeds for our Elven land does not go unseen and I would like to compliment you with your great victories, however I bid you to wait with your assault on Dol Guldur. Dale is showing massive troop movement near our border

I have send Legolas forth to construct a good defensive line at our northern and eastern border, for we need to concentrate all our attention to the south and west

I also like to inform you that I have send worth to the king of the dwarves to sent us some help. He replied me with the promise that he will send some troops to the north us for there is an old Dwarven fortress there overrun by goblins and orcs from Angmar. He was already planning on attacking it and will now make it a priority to assault it, so he can help us

I hope you fare well in the south of our regions. I will send a new message soon, with more detailed information

    regards, King Thranduill

Okay my orders were to stay put. I felt uneasy with those Dalian troop movement so I ordered my men to begin training citizens to worthy bowmen. weeks after weeks passed without message from the king untill I heared dire news from a messenger from my captain Indrell who was holding up at the eastern border

    Sire,

a gigantic army from Dale is marching through our lands, burning every forest they come across, they want revenge for their fallen brothers. I have set up an ambush near the old Silvan fortress Askul*

I send the messenger back with my best wishes for the captain. I know that the captain is capable and I see in him a great future within our ranks.

A few days later the captain send another message saying that the Dales retreated when they were under heavy fire, they haven't lost many men but they know they can suspect a warm welcome when coming here.

Meanwhile a messenger from king Thranduil arrives at my door with again a very important message:

Falathar, I here by let you know that we have won one of the most important victories of our time. The Dales attacked our capital and it was a close victory for us. Legolas is restoring our eastern border as we speak and I send some soldiers to you. I give you permission to do what you want as the Dales are to few in number to make a new threat for a while go with my blessings.

    Regards your king

A few days later the promised reinforcements arrives

I counsel with captain Indrell what our next move should be. He advices me to go to Dol Guldur and release it from the Dark Lords hands, he will stay here to protect the southern border

So I decide to march to Dol Guldur.

My scouts report that there is a orc legion with the dark lords banner. This disturbs me as these orcs are a lot stronger and better armed then their rebel counterparts. and not so very unoften these legions are commanded by a Nazgūl, I hope that my men have the courage to face such a evil.

The legion in Dol Guldur is massive, wel armed, in a very strong fortress and perhaps led by a Nazgūl this will be a interesting battle, with the result being very important. If we lose we lose al of our southern provinces again. if we win we have our old noble capital back

    The battle of Dol Guldur

Dol guldur, the once capital of the Silvan elves, once one of the most beautiful cities in the whole of Middle-Earth

Now it's city of evil, evil that's infested with orcs, trolls and sometimes nazgūls, and I'm here to capture it again in the name of all that is good and remake it a city of elves.

The closer we get to Dol Guldur the more dark and filthier the air that we breath in becomes. The men become disheartenend for they fear Dol Guldur, they heard rumors of the evil that once laid in Dol Guldur. When the dark lord still had a physical form

I try to keep the army maintain their courage by remembering them of the grave we had found at Eryn Dolen, that we had to stop the evil so that it could never do something like that again.

When we arrive at Dol Guldur we hear of the great garisson inside the city, they must have probably heard about us coming but no matter as long as we decide to when we strike we can win

I called a meeting for only our captains to join.

Falathar: The city is large, the garisson ass well we cannot achieve victory due to the strength of our arms
Captain Nurin: No we cannot there fore I call for a suprise attack, attack them at night they cannot see us and we can easily control the walls
Captain Indrel: That's out of the question, Orcs are nightfighters they are getting a morale boost when fighting at night.
Falathar: what do you suggest then?
captain Indrel: attack their supply lines, my scouts reported that Dol Guldur doesn't have a storage building for food they relie on human slave farmers nearby
Falathar: Where did these slaves came from
Captain Indrel: Minas Tirith sir, it had fallen, Rohan arrived to late and when they arrived their king saw it was no use and he retreated
Falathar: Do Denethor of Gondor and Theoden of Rohan still live then
captain Indrel: Denethor is death Theoden lives but his army is threatened by men from the hill of Dunland and from Uruk-Hais from Isengard
captain Nurin: let's return to matter at hand shall we? I agree with Indrel attack their supply lines let them starve and demoralise them attack us.
Falathar: So shall it be done then

And so we decided that we would release those human slaves from Gondor and we could ambush every help that was coming so that the Orcs in Dol Guldur would stand alone

After a while the orcs started to eat their own men, who where sick or getting old usually were on the menu

After a while the orcs became disheartenend and attacked

This time we had the advantage

We did our usually line up, me and captain Indrell guarded the frontline, while the new and fresh captain Nurin commanded the archers

Again our archers were superior to the orcs and it didn't last long before the first wave of orcs was defeate

Then the second Orc wave came, we didnt had any arrows left so we charged them with our swords

When we charged a small band of the orcs broke away and fled to the gate I followed them

The orcs retreated to the gate we followed them in, when we were inside we were cut off by the rest of the army the orcs had lured us in and we were now fighting for our lives with our back against the wall

Caught by suprise we lost brethern during the first charge. But after the orcs had seen what we did to their comrades they were disheartenend and when I personally killed their commander they fled. I openend the gates and we had won.

We had won I still can't believe it, the dark-lord was repelled from Mirkwood, who can now bear it's old name of greenwood

When I was discovering the old tower of Dol Guldur I found a easterling, probably the governor, of this place holding a seeker stone or palantir. He said: "The Dark Lord has a message for you Falathar, commander of the southern border"
I was horrified the Dark Lord wanted to say something to me. What could it be? I touched the Palantir and this is what I heard: "noble elven commander, you have taken my fortress of Dol Guldur, and I will not let your rebellious behaviour soil my land. When I'm done with the remains of Gondor and Saruman have destroyed the human kingdom of Rohan, I will burn every forest I will find and I will slay every elf that crosses my path. Until every elf is death.

After that message the easterling killed himself by putting a knife into his neck. I felt desorientated for hours, but I knew what must be done. I send word to king Thranduil and I left captain Nurin here to defend Dol Guldur. I and Indrell marched onward to the south, I did not wait for reinforcements but I took every soldier who was able with me and I marched onward to the south, hoping that there was still hope for the kingdoms of men.

    Marching South

The palantir in Amon Lanc, we renamed the place to his old Elven name, revealed to us that the kingdom of Gondor is about to fall, Rohan was still holding firm but his armies were scattered and small and they were threatenend by orcs marching through unguarded Gondor territory, Isengard en Dunmen from Dunland

This all I concluded in my plan. I marched south towards the forests of Ithilien hoping to speak with the captain of the Ithillien rangers.

on the way to the south we come across a small orcish camp. we ought to destroy it and kill every orc in the settlement

again we assaulted at 2 directions frontal and east wards

he led the sideways assault the assault who would endure the most orcs

    I led the frontal assault

the plan was to lock the enemy in the settlement, so that the orcs had nowhere to run.

    the plan succeeded masterly

with a splendid victory as a result

I will rest here for the night next day we will be moving further south

Our own little invasion of the West

After 26 days of marching, we finally came close to our goal. We had arrived at the border of Gondor or what used to be Gondor

During our march we met little resistance and walked with the same caution and silence as we did in our homeland nevertheless every orc patroll we came across did we attacked

but after 26 days we finally arrived at the old Gondorian border and my spies reported that there were 2 cities witch we could attack. One of the cities was heavily garisoned and the other had a very small garisson. The majority of my officers suggested that we should attack the city with the smallest garison in that way we would achieve an easy victory and would have established a foothold here, the minority replied that we could be attacked in the back and that we would be demolished. When they were remembered of the great stupidity of the orcs and the easy victory that resolved of this at Dol Guldur, the majority gave and we marched onwards to Cair Andross the city with the largest army

When we crossed the river that seperated us from the city we tried to lay siege to, we smelled a foul stench behind us and very quickly we discovered that we had been followed by the orc captain gothmog, as we didn't want that our suprise attack would be discovered by the large garisson of Cair Andros we hastenend to attack them, when we turned towards then we heard a horn coming from our side of the river, the garison of Cair Andros had sallied we had been trapped!!! shortly after the horn I hear a icy scream, knowing that my horrifying dreams of late became true. A Nazgul had appeared

I hastily give orders and write down these last words. I call for my weaponbearer and give him my last order for that day, he needs to make an account of the following battle and if we don't make it he must flee and make way to our king and show him this story.

My name is Etatar, as said by my master I'm a weaponbearer ordered to make a report about the battle. I feel very honoured to do this and I hope that I do a good job as I would like to do more reports as it is a job of honour to make a description of the great deeds my kinsmen do on the battlefield,

When I'm done with giving help to equip my master I take my blade with me and under the cover of the army I make my way to a nearby bush. I arrive just in time to see how the army forms up to form a direct attack on the orc commander gothmog I believed his name was

The plan was simple, the army would make their way tho the other side of the river and from there would they hold their ground against the uncoming orcish hordes. The battle commences and the army moves as planned our noble commander charges with his bodyguard in to the orcs as they try to cross the river whilst the rest of the army takes up position to defend their back

hear a chilling cry and the clapping of wings and I see the most dreadeth person or thing I have ever seen in my live a Nazgul

While the army of Cair Andros slowly comes nearer the fighting at the other side of the river comes fierce as the orcs fiercly defend their ground, they wouldn't give up as easily as their counterparts from Dol Guldur. The fell beasts of the Nazgul comes to close and the archers start to shoot at them afraid of the pain they can and may cause. The constant bombardment of arrows hits the fell beast with the nazgul on it and with a very loud cry witch causes me to cry out of scaredness he retreats thats at least one very dangerous foe less

but there are still hundreds of orcs remaining eager to taste some elvish flesh, they charge and my noble brethern are forced to stand ground at the wrong side of the river. volleys of arrows are shot and cause the orcs much pain and death, but they keep coming and do not route, these orcs are definetly better disciplined than the ones in Dol Guldur and the rest of Mirkwood

The fighting grows fierce and all though my brethern had the advantage in the beginning, the orcs are gaining on them fast, my brethern, not used to large battles in open field instead of the ambusy style we used back home, slowly begin to lose faith. When our noble commander finally have gotten control of the opposite side I see the horror in his face when he looks at the bank he just left and he sprints back to help his brothers

But it didn't made any difference although the orcs are driven back, confused by the sudden reinforcements, they have smelled elvish blood and won't give up now. I see my comrades die one by one untill eventually only my commander with his bodyguard still holding their ground.

my commander was the last elf who died that day and he took many orcs with him

When the orcs knew they had won they began looting and stripping my friends from there armour and other valuables. I saw this horrific act witch lasted al day untill nightfall, then I had the courage to escape under the cover of the night

This was the story as told by the elf who claimed to be the only survivor of that horrifying defeat. When he told his story to my father he listenend with tears in his eyes, as he knew what had happenend. The elven invasion of Orcish-Gondor was a complete disaster, although we had a good start, we underestimated the enemy and we were defeated horribly. My father said he needed some time alone and we gived him that. After 3 days of mourning and thinking he came to me and said:

"My son, the defeat thought us one thing and that is that we can't underestimate the enemy even though they can act very clumsy and are not very clever, if they are well led or if they gain blood thirsty the dumb orc becomes a very powerfull and dangerous foe. Even though I don't want to bring more lives of our already decreasing population in danger, for the greater good we must show what we can do and must do."

"So what do you want me to do father?"

" I want you to raise a new army and claim the lost lands of the West in name of all that's good in this earth.""

    "I will do that father."

"Ofcourse you will for I'm your king Legolas, and you must obey your king eventhough you are the kings son and heir."

With that said my father walks out and I grab my bow and swords to personally train the army that would join me to the south

Meanwhile my defense of the Dalian border would go to my father as he doesn't feel comfortable in sending his kinsmen to death without doing anything for himself

EDITOR'S NOTE: I know that I said when Falathar died I would end the story but I didn't feel that would have been correct. Furthermore the last fight of Falathar was totally real and not a scene or suicidal attack, I actually thougth that I could win and I would have won if I send my whole army to Gothmog instead of only falathar

    Offence is the best Defence

I trained the men who could come with me myself and after a short month of training a great host of rangers was ready for battle. I thanked our gods that our people was gifted with a talent for Marksman and hunting, When I was done training them I bid them to stay here and train some further to sharpen there skill whilst I went to Dol Guldur to do the same there. I would send a message when they could come. After a quick travel I arrived within a week at Dol Guldur, and also there it took me a month to train the rangers, I was glad and send the message. I waited for weeks but the army somehow didn't came, after a period of time I became worried and went towards our capital leaving the other half of men at Dol Guldur

Again within the week I arrived at our capital and it was still there my worries left me and now I went looking for my soldiers and the knowledge of why they didn't showed up. I searched the whole day and then I became tired and went to my father's palace. Your father isn't here my mother told me, he was busy defending the eastern border with Dale. Ofcourse I remembered he would take my role as commander of the eastern border defences.

"What are you looking for?" my mother asked
"I'm looking for my soldiers that promised me to show up when they were needed." was my reply
" I don't know where they here son, I do remember that soldiers moved out to strenghten our eastern border somethings didn't go well there."
"What happenend?!" I became worried what could have gone wrong?
"Well your father send messagers to our allies the other elven clans and the dwarves if they could help us with the Dales, unfortunatly for him our allies were not the enemies of the Dales like we are and so they denied his request

" Well that's not so bad the dales haven't showed up at our border so why does he need extra men."
" According to our prisoners of war the Dales wanted to test the new commander in the field and they invaded with a huge army, that army was destroyed but reinforcements came and that army was also destroyed but at a cost of great deal of men."

"And you know your father Legolas he doesn't get angry fast but nothing angries him faster then seeing his kinsmen going to their graves."
"But what happenend to my soldiers!?"
"I remember it again, your father lost a great deal of men in those 2 battles and he wanted them replaced by new soldiers so I think he took yours, but honey why do you need them? you are the governor of Dol Guldur now why do you want soldiers you can recruit them there asswell."
"But mother don't you know father wanted me to go invade the west again where the brave Falather died I have to go and help save the West."
"Well why don't you stay here I don't like it when my boy goes all the way to Minas Tirith and battle there I don't want you go the same fate as Falathar did."
"I have to it's my duty to the west."
"What did the west ever do for us to deserve such a aid?"

After that said she walked away and I didn't saw her the rest of the day and night.

Meanwhile at the camp of king Thranduill:

"My lord the enemy field armies are retreating to their cities and the reinforcements you asked for arrived."
"That's good news indeed replenish the hurted cohorts with the new recruits and send those who can't form a full cohort back to where they came from."
"Ay ay sire any more orders?"
"We will stay here for the night tomorrow we have a busy day."

    The following day

    "Move out!!!!! Make ready!!!!!"
"Sir the forces are in marching position and ready to march."
"Let's march then to our goal, it shouldn't be to far away."
"No it's not sire according to our map we should arrive there late in the afternoon."
"Well let's hurry then I want to get this over with as soon as possible."
    "Ay ay sir."

"We have arrived sire and the soldiers are ready to do whatever you want."
"Well that's good news let's siege this city and capture it for the glory of the Silvan Elves."
    "Ay Ay sire."
"And hopefully when we succeed the Dales won't trouble us anymore but I think that a Dalian saying is appropiate for the current situation:

The Best Offence Is A Great Defence

    The Dale Campaign part 1

As it's custom with our people to let the commander make the reports of the battles and war acts of the war he is involved in, so shall I king Thranduill from the clan of the Silvan describe in this battle report the first of the major clashes between my army and the Dalians. As you probably will know I have invaded the lands of the Dalian people. I had 2 very good reasons to do this.

first of all the Dales were very stubborn and kept denying our requests for peace and even killed the diplomat who I send to them. Killing a diplomat during a peacemission is a act of war by our laws!
second because of the constant pressure and threat from the Dales I couldn't send my son with the only army I have to the south, this would let our lands ripe for plunder. So I have to neutralize the threat before we can come to the aid of our allies.

The first target I went to was the city of Laketown, this city is second city of the Dales and lies closest to our border. The city is from the north only accesable by a bridge, from this bridge I attacked it so I couldn't become overwhelmed by possible release forces of the Dales. The city was defended by the noble king Bard whoes, due to old age and the increasing power of Sauron, mind became corrupt, it was him who unleashed his forces on our lands.

The cities defences only existed out of his bodyguard and because I remembered his noble deeds of old I let my army in their camp and went only by myself and my bodyguard to him, a fair fight for a once noble king.

My forces build a ram wich I used to get inside the city

    The gate was easily destroyed

King Bard waited for us at the town square, knowing that he had a slight terrain advantage I nevertheless marched to him and let our forces clash in to one another

The king was old and so was his bodyguard who he never retrained with a younger generation. We quickly gained the upperhand and it didn't last long before the king was on his own

Though he held his ground against the three elves and even managed to kill 2 of them the king was bested by the third elf tired of fighting 3 elves he couldn't bring the power to kill the last one

He was the last one of his man to be slain and the day was ours, even though his mind was corrupted by the forces of evil, I still grieved over his death because he once was a good man and a righteous king many human kings aren't and 9 kings even became Sauron's most loyal servants, I gave king Bard the Archer the funeral he deserved

After a week of resting I marched onward to the Dalian capital of Dale leaving 120 swordsmen as garisson for Laketown. When I crossed the bridge I heard a Dale horn, it was a Dalian release force but they arrived to late the city was already ours.

As they were thirsty for revenge I offered them battle. The battle site was a river with me and my army on the one side and the Dalian army on the other side. I ordered my archers to fire on the waiting Dales. I guess they were waiting for us to march over the bridge, they should have known that I wouldn't give them such a huge advantage. However fire balls were launched at my archers and I immediatly ordered them to get out of fire range. My superior Elven eyes saw 2 pieces of Dalian artillery and I knew that if I send my archers any further I would lose to many men.

The Dales however thought that the withdrawal of my archers ment that theire arrowquivers were empty and the commanding officer ordered a frontal assault by the entire army. The army marched over the bridge. the hundreds of Dales were so packed together on the bridge that my archers just had to shoot and not to aim. Although their first act was confusion and panick the enemy commander ordered to continue the assault but they had to regroup at the end of the bridge. The army did that but when all soldiers were at the other side only 100 or so remained they surrendered and I granted them mercy, the day was ours!

The way was open to Dale city and by the end of the day we arrived there and laid siege to it. Again I let my engineers build a ram and the next day we assaulted the city. This time the army was to great for me to handle by myself and my bodyguard

I did led the siege and pushed the ram forwards the gate wasn't defended and it easily got destroyed

I ordered all archers with me. The enemy was again waiting for us at the townsquare and again in a packed formation. I positioned my archers and gave the order to fire at will and so the massacre of Dale began. Every soldier found death and my own soldiers only got killed because they walked inside their comrades firing range. The elite soldiers did manage to come to my lines but their damage was minimal the day was ours

I sacked the city whoes land caused my country so much harm. 3/4 of the population was killed our send to work as slaves in our mines and forges. You may think that this is a little bit to cruel for a city, but if they hadn't attacked us then I wouldn't have lost Falathar and his army, men whoes women are now widows and mourn everyday, men whoes children now don't have a father any more and men who released our old realm from the powers of Sauron. For if this country didn't existed I could have the entire eastern border defences with Falathar to the south and he may have lived to tell the tale of his ,judging by his former succeses here, probably succesfull campaign in the south.

After 3 days of pillaging and looting I left Dale with again 120 swordsmen as a defense force. My scouts reported that in the south a large city by the name of Riverrun was occupied by Dalian refugees from Laketown, I immediatly set course to that town. The enemy had 2 massive armies in the neighborhood of their last stronghold, this will be a tough fight I thought to myself so I was still thinking about moving further south to Riverrun or setting up camp at my current location waiting for reinforcements.

While we were making ready for the night a messenger send by Legolas arrived at our camp saying that the Elves of Lothlorién also marched out to war. They invaded the lands of Dunland, this would give the land of Rohan some time and now their forces needed to guard their northern border could now be used to help their comrades at the southern border against the uncoming Mordor threat.

With this news it felt like a huge weigth fell from my shoulders. Finally we gained some assistance in our moves to help the human kingdoms of Rohan and Gondor. I slept very good that night

    The Dale Campaign part 2

My soldiers begged me to go home and recruit more men, they were demoralised with the number of the soldiers the Dale had at their capital and how many soldiers we had lost. I felt sorry that these soldiers were raw recruits for with a thousand Elven archers who stands in our way? But a demoralised army is a lost army so I gave call to their wishes and marched onwards to our capital

    Meanwhile in Dol Guldur

"My lord Legolas what brings you here?"
"I have come to train an army and help my father in his invasion"
"Do as you will my prince" the Elven ruler of Dol Guldur bowed and walked away.
I immediatly gave the order of training soldiers. Whilst with the current garison I went on patrol to teach them the basics of ambushing and silent marching. On patrol we discovered something horryfying

A huge Dalian army had slipped past our borders and began laying siege to Dol Guldur, I hastend back to Dol Guldur hoping that I wasn't to late

The enemy outnumbered my army almost 3 to 1 this would be one of my greatest battles I have ever done. I send the reinfocements from Dol Guldur to their city if the battle would go wrong the city still had a defence

I ordered my archers to fire at will and the enemy commander ordered a frontal assault, this battle will be bloody I thought to myself, luckily for us a lost arrow hit the enemy commander in his neck and he died

The enemy still came closer and I ordered my men to spread out, the enemy followed my soldiers and instead of having the huge advantage of 3 to 1 a lot of individual fights broke out and my superior trained Elven troops made short work of the poorly trained Dalian militia's

At some point some archers became free of their opponents and started firing their very deathly volleys, the enemy all fell down and the day was ours, though it was costly it was a very important victory for the entire army routed and none of the men who survived were ever seen again

After a few weeks the retraining was done and the new recruits were ready for war. So was I and I prepared for the invasion of Dale

    Back at Thranduill's army

Shortly after I arrived in my palace a messenger came from the newly conquered provences of Dale. Laketown had been besieged by a Dalian army and was captured

And the Dwarves had turned on us!

They had attacked the poorly defended city of Dale, I hadn't left many soldiers there for I thought that the enemy would help protect it against Dale, how wrong was I,

However the Elven commander crushed the invaders and Dale was still ours, I immediatly send reinforcements to the commander and I bestowed him with the rank of general

I wanted to march out again however the retraining plans still weren't done and I thought to myself "patience Thranduill control yourself! When the army is done you can continue your attack but for now have patience!"
Whilst I was frustated and waited for the recruitment to be done a messenger arrived saying the oldest of alliances had fallen and war has broken out between them. First I thought that war had broken out between Gondor and Rohan but the messenger gave me excellent news

Finally my army was ready and I immediatly send course to Dale. After a week of very quick marching I arrived at the bridge where I exactly 4 months ago led the siege against Laketown and the old king Bard the Archer. However this time the Dales had a larger garisson and a release force managed to come there when I laid siege, the defenders sallied with the support of the release force.

I retreated to the other side of the bridge and gave my archers the order to fire at will, the enemy packed upon the bridge were easy targets for my men and the great army of Dale was soon reduced to a small band of brigands who routed and fled to the city of Riverrun.

The defenders of Laketown surrendered shortly after our victory and the town was ours again. I ordered my men to kill every males except for the teenagers and children and the older male citizens, this will teach them to rebel to our righteous cause. When the deed was done I rebuilded every building that was lost and gave every family who had lost a family member 300 gold coins for every male family member that was killed, I also discovered that approximatly 500 to 600 men had hid themselves, I granted them mercy

This time I put op a larger garison and I also send some soldiers to Dale for the growing threat of the Dwarven clans, after a few days of resting and training I ordered the march to Riverrun. After a we had marched 2 or 3 days we came at a river crossing here we set up camp waiting for some news about the current situation and perhaps news from my son because I just had heared that Dol Guldur was besieged and I knew that my son had went there, I hoped that he was okay

    Meanwhile in Dol Guldur

"My comrades, it is time for you to show what you have learned, I'm going to fight the Dales in the north!!!"
    "WHO WILL FIGHT WITH ME!!!!???"
"YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!" the army yelled "We will fight with you!!"

    Elven Tears

Days passed while we were camping at the river crossing. Some days were peaceful other days we skirmished with the Dalian army who were camping 4 or 5 miles at the other side of the river witch role also was as a natural border between my lands and the lands of the Dales.

With the skirmishes we never lost men in contrary to the Dales but some men did became wounded and needed care and couldn't fight sometimes this wasn't bad for the wounded were usually never more than 20 or 50 men so not a great deal of men couldn't fight, they were never threatend by the Dales but I always left one unit of rangers at the camp to protect in case of a breakthrough this never happenend. However one day the situation became critical.

The Dales tried a new strategy and attacked at night. The fools however used torches so they were easy targets for my archers. Once the arrowquivers were empty we engaged them in hand to hand combat and the enemy was easily driven back. We followed them and forced a mass rout. We followed the survivors over the bridge and looted their camp. However at a certain point I could hear horses at the other side of the river. Knowing that we didn't had horses I gave the order to retreat and went secretly to our camp. The horses were as we expected fighting under the Dalian banner. We could see them attacking our camp and with that also our wounded. I turned my eyes away not able to see the slaughter. I then heard an Elven horn coming from the darkness along with horsehooves sounds. And out of no where an cavalry force with an Elven banner attacked the Dalian cavalry and slain them all.

When the situation was clear I went to them and thanked them. I then went searching for the commander of this unit. I found him and asked his name for I wanted to know the name of the Elf who had rescued our wounded and all of our supplies. He prenounced himself als captain Oropher Indrell

"I know that name. How did you came here?"
"I served as captain under General Falathar, While he commanded the centre I usually commanded one of the flanks. General Falathar gave me the command over the siege at Eryn Dolen and Emyn nu Fuin it was my job to distract the enemy while he would get inside and flank them. At Dol Guldur my job was to simply to guard the camp as he didn't want the other captain, Nurin I believe his name was, wanted to be neglected, unfortanatly the captain got wounded and a month after our victory at Dol Guldur by that time we were already in Gondor."
"Were you at the battle at Cair Andros?"
    ""Yes"
    "how did you survive"
"My order was to cover the general's back while he would deal with the Orcish commander."
"You didn't do a very good job, the army got wiped out."
"I know that and not a day goes by when I don't feel bad for beeing the only one who survived."
    "How did you survive?"
"The last thing I remember is that I was commanding archers to shoot at the fell beasts. The fell beasts came down one by one. And one of them fell on me. I think I passed out for when I woke up it was night and a small band of orcs were celebrating their victory with their filthy Orcis drink, I killed those orcs and hastily fled when I heard the voices of the main army that came back."
"And then you fled to your home and take control of one of the reinforcement units."
    "Correct."
"Well your services don't go unnoted, from the victory of Eryn Dolen till now every battle you joined was a succes except for the battle at Cair Andros. You'll join our army and my staff as my third in command."
"Thank you sir. Oh I almost forgot, I have a message from prince Legolas."
    "Speak."
"He is marching parrallel with our southern border with Rhūn to Dalian territory, he will approach from the south."

A Dalian horn sounded and hundreds of voices were heard.

"My lord a messenger from the Humans!"
    "Let him enter."
"Greetings noble Elven king, I'm send here to offer you a truce, here is the scroll with the conditions."
"Captain Oril grap that scroll will you?"
    "Yes sire"

When the captain comes near he graps the scroll turns around with his back facing to the messenger. The messenger then grabs a knife out of his robe and stabs the captain in his back. Everythings goes in slowmotion. The king hastily grabs his blade and under a scream runs to the assassin. The bodyguards of the king enter and draw their swords. In a split second the assassin has a very strange bow in his hand. a bow who is put horizontal on a piece of wood and with a somesort of mechanism is the string pulled backwards. On the piece of wood a small arrow lies with a green tip, obviously poison!!!. The assassin presses on a button and the arrow flies away, the guards kill him quickly but where did the arrow go?. I hear moaning and look behind me. The king was hit right in the middle of his torso.

I call for doctors to help the king. The bodyguards lay him on his bed and begin to release him from his suffocating armor. The doctors arrive and says that the King won't live long. He calls me with him and in his last act as king he promotes me to general of the army and then he passes away. I send messages to the capital, our cities, governors, and ofcourse the son who is now king and orfin for the mother died when the news of the death became known, probably out of sorrow

I give the assassin's corpse to our soldiers who completely mutilate it and as a result he can never be recognized again. I send the king with his trusted bodyguard to his palace for a glorious funeral.

When the news arrived every Elf cried and the tears were used to plant an huge and most beautifull tree. A mallorn tree soon growed and with his golden leaves shined upon the Mausoleum of the king.

And I said to myself: "Those good for nothing humans will pay with their blood for what they did to our people."

    Revenge

Oropher: "My friends, those humans that stand on the other side of the field, need to be punished. They killed our noble king, and he didn't die nobly on the battlefield, no those filthy humans sended an assasin to kill him, knowing that our noble king Thranduill couldn't be killed in battle. My friends! I hear the enemy shivering with fear. They know what we can do when they attack us. No we shall show them what we can do when we attack, when we are mad and thirsty for revenge and more importanty there blood, I want to see the field red today painted by their blood!!! SHOW NO MERCY KILL THEM ALL LEAVE NO ONE ALIVE, FIGHT FOR OUR KING, FIGHT TO REVENGE HIM."
Army: "DEATH TO DALE, DEATH TO DALE. DEATH TO DALE. REVENGE!!!!!

Oropher: "Friends follow me, I will lead you to victory

Oropher: "Men they think they can beat us in hand to hand fights. Pha we shall show them how good we can fight."

Oropher: "Now it's time to win this battle. Captain send the cavalry in, attack them in the rear, Charge!!!"

Captain: "General, the enemy is fleeing what shall we do?"
Oropher: "What do you think, No Mercy, No Prisoners, send the cavalry in and kill them all

"The Day is ours, Revenge is sweet, now I know why the orcs like revenge so much. It feels good."
"For king Thranduil!!!! He would be proud of you my friends."

After the victory general Oropher Indrell marched onwards to the town of Riverrun to conquer it. His army was still thirsty for revenge and human blood. Oh before I go further let me introduce myself. I'm Mablung, first nephew from king Thranduill but when my father died the noble king adopted me as his son. Although I'm angry just as well with the Dales I don't feel that my kinsmen should be so furious, their madness covers their sight, and their judgement. If they continue like this, or we make tremendous victories, or we become like the orcs. As we all know King Legolas succeeded his father and he marched from the south to Dalish lands. While marching to their goals they had to march through the marshes of Rhūn. Luckily a deserter from a defeated Dalish army showed them the way. In those marshes creatures live who lure their prey to them with a sweet scent. When halveway through the marshes some soldiers picked up the scent and followed it. Then a massive octupus like creature came from the depths of the marshes and grapped them with their tentacles. However Legolas managed to free them, When they were freed they fled away scared of what just happenend to them. Legolas followed them but his leg was grapped and with no one to help him, he was pulled inside the marshes to be never seen again.

His army came out of the marshes unharmed but they were furious with there guide who had fled to leave them on their own. They swoar an oath of vengeace and marched to the north, killing every human they encountered. I became the new king and I made Oropher Indrell my heir. I hastenend towards the angry soldiers who had began the siege of a Dalish town

For his victory over the Dales I gave Oropher the banner of stars and I promoted him to superior commander

While I hastenend myself towards the southern army. Oropher marched to riverrun where he set up camp. Dalian commanders knowing what his intention was rushed towards their capital and attacked him

ropher: "Men they killed our second king, the most righteous Legolas. Again not on the battlefield but they lured him in a trap. These men aren't worth to live on this earth, I say we kick them of this earth, every last one of them."

    WHO WILL FIGHT WITH ME????

"DEATH TO DALE. DEATH TO DALE. DEATH TO DALE. DEATH TO DALE. REVENGE!!!!"

The huge Dalian relieve force marched towards the army of Oropher, knowing that if they would hold their ground the archers would kill them all. He positioned his cavalry far away to put them out of sight, their job was to flank the enemy when Oropher gave the signal

The Dalian army came closer and the archers started to fire

The Dales didn't run to save their breath. A big mistake for their slow marching made sure that when they reached our lines, they had been reduced to a small band of rubble. The cavalry was send in to clear the remmants of the relieve force while the archers were send towards the enemy reinforcements.

Seeing what happenend to their comrades they fled. But the arrows of the Elven rangers made sure none survived

The garisson commander Delling of Riverrun was among the death

Searching for more fleeing Dales, Oropher spotted one last axeman. He was tired but the thought of going to die made him run fast.

The archers saw him and every archer fired on him. To show the world what would happen if you faced the wrath of the Silvan Elves

    A very pleasant suprise

"I'm king of the Silvan clan. You shall not kill me, my people needs me." With that said the noble king Legolas grapped his blade and hacked upon the creature.

The creature grapped Legolas with his tentacles and then something strange occured, the creature began to speak

"Legolas king of the Silvan clan, I shall not kill you for I need to speak with you. You are fighting a war with the Dalian humans, why?"

"Because they are becoming corrupt, they attacked our lands and before we were allies they betrayed us."

"True but why did they betray you?"

    "I don't know."

"The power of Mordor is growing. The dark magic of Sauron becomes stronger with every minute as he gains control over the human kingdoms of the south.

    "But how?"

"He uses the palantir of Minas Tirith to control men, dwarves and elves alike. That palantir had connections to every kingdom, kings and generals alike. That is the reason why the Dales and Dwarves attack your lands. It is also the reason why your kinsmen becoming increasingly cruel."

"We have kept the armies of the Dwarves and Dales at bay, nothing bad has happenend."

"The death of Thranduill is something bad."

"That was an assasin's job not the job of black magic.""

"Actually it was, normally Elven blood would cure every poison or illnes that infects the body. This black magic rules out that cure and you are becoming threatenend by poison as wel. This magic even makes you loose the life of the Eldar. Legolas you have to march onwards to Barad-Dur and stop him, otherwise you will die all, only in your sacred woods wil you be save, but can you leave the rest of the good people from middle earth on their own?"

    "What about the other elves?""

"They are protected by the Elven rings of power, one that the Silvan elves doesn't posses. You have to return to your people and save them. March to Barad-Dur stop the evil that marshalls outside your lands."

"I will but how do I come back and more importantly who are you?"

"I will send you back no worry. And for me I think your people call me Mandos."

"With said Legolas suddenly woke up at the place where he was drawn in the water and he hastenend towards his army

    Meanwhile at Riverrun

Oropher: My friends, I won't put you in danger for this pittyfull humans. I want the Dales death just as their dwarvish comrades. But first the Dales men these humans have never beaten us. I say we continue this spree. ATTACK!!!!""

"Give me the ram I want to fight this on my own. Leave every soldier outside the gate untill I give the mark."

"My lord the enemy is retreating from us."
    "Let no one escape."

"Phaaa see that men. They are trying to hide behind their beloved sacred stone. They say it gives them strength. I say that we call our god on us to help us. FOR MANDOS!!!!"

"My lord they attacked us in the rear. RETREAT.'"
"No don't retreat, signal the cavalry to attack."

"They are al death sire, the day is ours"

"What shall we do with the city?"
"Slay every human, kill them all."

"What shall we do now sire?"
"I don't know how much casualties do we have?"
"Alot sire, our units are vastly undermanned."
    "Send them for retraining."
    "As you wil sire."
"It feels good to be heir to the throne."

Back at the army of Legolas

Captain: "They have betrayed us. Because of them two of our most noblest of Elves are now death. I say we take vengeance and capture this town and kill every human, to return the favour. For we need at least thousands of humans to get even with them, but this town will be a nice start."
    Army: Kill Kill Kill Kill

editor: pretend Legolas is not with the army for the story.

"Captain the town is ours. What shall we do with it?"

    "Slay every hu....."
    "No that will not happen."
"Who are you to interrupt me?"
The hooded ranger puts of his hood and the head of Legolas becomes visible.
"I'm Legolas the Green and I come back to you now, at the turn of the tide."
"My lord this is a miracle. How can this happen according to our soldiers you were taken by a creature into the water, they thought you were death for sure."
"I died but the creature revealed himself as Mandos. He gave me insight in wat happenend here. My friends I was send back to here with a reason. I was send back here to tell you wat really is going on."
A soldier steps forward and says: "Yeah we know what is going on, the Dales and Dwarves attacked us and now we are winning the war."
"True but have we ever made war with them before? These wars began when the orcs of Sauron conquered Minas Tirith. The soldiers of Rohan came to late and they were all slaughtered by the orcs. Leaving the road to Rohan open. When Sauron captured Minas Tirith he also captured it's palantir. With this palantir he is able to spell us all with his blackmagic. He cursed the noble king Bard into attacking us. He cursed the noble Dwarven king of Erebor to attack us. Why you may ask, because we captured and hold his second fortress. His black magic makes us sick, his black magic let the live of the Eldar slip away from us. We are only safe inside our woods."
"Then we go to our woods, give these lands to human rulers and we live in peace."
"And turn our backs to the other Elves?. The free peoples of middle-earth? If we don't help them every corner of middle earth will be ruled by Sauron and his puppet rulers. We must attack his fortress of Barad-Dur. Taking the palantirs with us and free the peoples of middle earh from his foul magic."
"The last time we did this, we were attacked and defeated by the orcs and we lost one of our greatest generals.""
"True but we shall try nonetheless, I'm old now and because of the black magic of Sauron makes the life of the Eldar slip away, I will die soon. If I die continue the road to Barad-Dur and attack and take the palantirs."
"Ay ay sire, do you need something else."
"A doctor would be nice. Mandos hurted me quite bad in his struggle to speak to me."

    Back at Riverrun

"Captain did you bring the palantir from Dol Guldur."
"Yes Oropher I brought it with me."
"I like to be spoken to as general."
"Fine, general." The tone of the voice was sarcastic but luckily for him Oropher didn't heard it."
"Give me it I want to know where the last resistance of the Dales is coming from."
"Do you know how to use it?"
"Yes leave me now I need to be alone now."

"Aaah look at those settlements, ripe to be conquered. Their defence is minimal and can't even think of defeating us. I will conquer you and kill all of you."

After that said he let out a very demonic laugh, witch even scared his bodyguard who were standing at the other side of the door

    Moving out

    "Quickly get some doctors here."
"We don't have any doctors with us captain. We never have doctors with us and we aren't in a city we are to far away from the nearest village. Why what's wrong?"

"The king is becoming increasingly ill if we won't get any doctors he will die."
"By Mandros, we should search every camp and look for someone who knows something about medicine."
"Captain." A weak voice comes from the main tent.
"I'm coming my lord." And the captain hastenend himselve to Legolas' tent.
"I know that I won't make it through the night. Here is my last order for every Elf, send it to every city and settlement in our woods and let it been read out loud."
    "And for me liege?"
"I shall bestow you with the rank of General Maedhros."

"Take my army and march to Barad-Dur, capture the Palantirs and Mandros will tell you what to do."

With that said the great king of Legolas dies. And I followed his last orders end I send out his will to the great cities of the Silvan Elves.

And even though every soldier of our army mourned I ordered the continue of the march. And very soon we reached the The Rhūn border and we crossed it coming closer to our goal.

In the Silvan capital a letter arrived in the hands of the city governor Aredhel

    "What is this?"
"It's a letter my lord from the great king Legolas."
    "What does it say?"

    Noble Elven Rulers,

When you receive this letter I will be death. With this letter I give you the battle reports of the Eastern front. In this battle reports you shall read the cruelty with what way some of our most noble of Elves are leading this wars. Outside of our sacred woods every Elf becomes increasingly cruel and bloodthirsty.
The reason for this is the increasing power of Sauron. He increases his power with the palantirs of Minas Tirith, Orthanc, Minas Morgul, Barad-Dur and in the past also the palantir from Dol Guldur. The palantir of Minas Tirith is the reason for our problems. With this he can control the minds of those people we used to trust. It's the reason for the war with the Dales, the reason for the war with the Dwarves and our increasing blood thirst.
My army will still go further to take control of the lost Palantirs. In the mean time, make sure our Elven brethern don't go lost and help them.

    King Legolas

"What shall we do now my lord?"
    "hmmm What the?"
    A scout comes running in.
"My lord the dwarves, they have broken through our defences in the north, they are preparing an invasion."
"We will do what the king has ordered us to do, prepare the army we will march north."

Aredhel was the Elf who led the army against the Dwarves. He thought it was his job to clean the northern threat. And after restoring the nothern border he continues his march and he begins invading the Dwarvish lands its self. After a steady few miles of marching they were attacked.

Aredhel had never fought war before. He choose the position of achers in front swordsmen behind, behind their swordsmen himself to get the overview of the battle and to help where the need was high

The enemy marched upon Aredhel's army in a steady march. The dwarves were so heavily armoured that no arrow shot could penetrate the armour and hurt them.

They never charged but in close formation marched upon us with weapons drawn ready for a charge of us. Once they reached our lines they started hacking. Aredhel had began attacking the Onagers so he couldn't see the battle. His second in command withdrawed the archers and the fight began

His second in command also noticed the fatal flaw of the Dwarves. To make the heavy armor bearable, the Dwarves had their for back armour just a small piece of iron, witch was easily penetrated by arrows. He gave his archers orders to flank and shoot. The enemy eventually suprised by this turn of events but they turned around and putted their shields on their backs. The captain ordered his men to surround the enemy and Aredhel returned to his army attacking the enemy in their backs, the noble Dwarven commander lost his focus and was getting killed

The army of the Dwarves became tired and soon they were overwhelmed by the elves. They fought bravely and never retreated, victory was ours.

Meanwhile everywere in the Forest bands of Elves began to muster and they went to the East hoping to help the armies

    The Black Gate of Mordor

"My lord we have won the battle of Erebor."
"Oh that's wonderfull news, I'm sorry I couldn't be there, I wasn't feeling so well but now I'm feeling better thanks to this wonderfull news."
"Glad you are becoming better my lord, but what shall we do with the city my liege?"
"Destroy those ugly Dwarvish buildings, kill every dwarf and replenish their numbers with Elven colonists."
    "As you command."

After 2 months of marching we had crossed the lands of Rhūn, we had founded our way through the death marshes and now we were standing in Mordor territory. And just as we settled down for the night we heard a Mordor battlehorn. They had been following us, and now they were attacking us.

I made my formations and I waited for the first army to come, the orcs stupid as they are attacked in waves instead of using a combined force with both numbers together

Once the Orcs came close enough to the lines my archers started to fire.

Under the heavy barrage of fire, the Orcs still were running at us. Thank Mandros that these men weren't on horse otherwise would have been dead. I thought to myself. Eventually every orc is the same and when the archers had crippled the numbers of the Orcs so badly that they fled

They were caught quickly by my arrows and none survived and now it was time to focus our attention on the other army.

Again my archers fired at the Orcs that became dashing towards our lines. These Orcs however were members of the Guard of Barad-Dur and they knew how to fight battles.

These Orcs desperatly wanted me death and so they charged at me, I ran away from them and I ordered my archers to shoot at their backs. They fell quickly and the first victory on Mordor soil was ours, and by doing so we came a step closer in fulfilling our goal

After the victory we ran towards the entrance to Mordor, The only entrance that was usuable for large armies. And later that day we arrived at that entrance

The same time as Maedhros went to Mordor, the army Oropher had send back for retraining returned to their general and Oropher was ready for war. He marched onwards to the Dalian town called Lonsdale. When he got there he laid siege to the place. After a month of disrupting the enemies' supply lines the Dales were helped by 2 small relieve forces.

    Oropher
Men!!! The Dales have sent not one but two armies to help them and not just any armies, nooo they send their smallest and weakest armies they have. The garisson is even larger then the armies combined. My peeing time is longer than the time these armies will last against us. PHAH this will be an easy victory boys. Kill them all
    Soldiers
    DEAAAAATH!!!!

The archers of Oropher waited till the enemy came in range and fired on them. The enemies', who had to run uphill, morale hitted rock bottom

When the cavalry of Oropher charged, the Dalians quickly fled but they were caught up by our arrows. After that small victory it was time to focus on the second and third army who had combined their numbers

    The archers again openend fire

The enemy kept marching steadily towards our soldiers, The enemies' morale became better when they noticed that the arrowquivers were empty, They began charging and it was then when they lost the battle. The cavalry of Oropher had hid themselves in nearby woods and when the army began charging they faced with their backs to the cavalry, who immediatly took advantage of this and they charged. The enemy hearing the voice fled and fought, many cavalrymen died in the charge but it had succes. The enemy fled and the general died in the process

When the news came to Oropher about a massive rout, he ordered the cavalry to kill every men. None was allowed to survive the field. The day was ours

    Meanwhile at the black gates

    Maedhros
Men we have come far and now we are standing in front of the Blackgates with siege equiptment and the like. We have two choices doing nothing and flee to our home land or we attack and save the world of freedom from the dangers of Tyranny and other. I PREFER THE LAST!!!!!!

    Army
Let's FIGHT. Let's FIGHT for ruin and the worlds' ending!!!!!

    Mordor

On october 5th we attacked the entrance towards Mordor, the entrance were long ago the last alliance of men and Elves were fighting for their freedom and were the great ring of power was found by Isildur. And now it was our chance to liberate the world from al evil.

This is wat I said to my men before we attacked, my men were afraid of the evil of Mordor, but they nevertheless knew that it was their chance for eternal fame and glory, and the destruction of evil.

The camp of the orcs was a vile place to be, the roofs of their buildings were covered with leather coloured with a blood looking fluid. The walls were black because the walls were made of black stone from the centre of Mordor

The siege towers were ready and we attacked the walls with them

The enemy commander was a nazgūl and thank Mandos he was on a horse and not on a fell beast

The tower reached the walls and the storm began. The first battalion of Elven archers were decimated completly by enemy tower ballista's. However they should be remembered as glorious warriors. Who made sure that the rest of the army could climb the walls safe as these brave warriors took control of the towers and the ballista's fired on the enemy now. The last of these noble warriors were killed thanks to a lucky shot from a orc bow. But the rest of the army could climb the walls now

The men who were on the walls openend the gate for us and I marched in with my bodyguard

The rest of the archers were also send in and they began firing on the enemy just as their counterparts on the walls did

The orcs were killed rapidly and they stood no chance against the mighty arrows of the Elves

The Nazgūl knew that if he didn't attacked we would claim this place in the name of the Elves. He attacked us totally underestimating my bodyguard, and the skill we Elves posses with the sword

The Nazgūl paid for his arrogance and he withdrawed his cavalry, however I didn't let him escape and I personally killed his horse, and when he laid on the ground I stabbed him in his head and I heard a foul scream but he died

The remaining enemy though small in numbers they kept putting up resistance and my personal attention was needed

They were quickly defeated and the black gate was ours

We celebrated this victory shortly and then I ordered my Elves to bury their fallen friends. I looked if there were any survivors and there was only one who survived our attack, a bodyguard from the Nazgūl. As I picked my sword ready to make an end of his life he began to speak.

"Normally the Nazgūl don't take up residence at the black gates."
"Why are they here now then."
"Because he returned from his journey to the shire."
    "What did he do there?"
"To search for a halfling called baggins and to kill him."
"Why did he wanted him death."
"Don't you know that Elf? Phah the Elves think they know everything but this time they don't know it."
"Did he succeed in his mission?"
"Search him and you will find out."

After that he gave a demonic laugh. I felt angry and mad and I didn't hesitated to kill the Orc. After I killed him I went towards to the body of the Nazgūl, I searched his robe and I didn't find anything. I searched his armour and didn't find anything, So he didn't succeed in his mission thank Mandos. However after I stood up, I noticed a glitter coming from the Nazgūl's arm, on his arm he had a bracelet with a small golden ring on it. I picked up the ring and when I touched it, I saw Sauron in front of me.

I see you he said to me

I dropped the ring immediatly afraid of what I just had seen. Could it be I said to myself, that this is the one ring? The ring of power? Only one thing to find out. I threw him in the fire and small markings became visible, it was the one ring. I picked him up via his chain and I putted him in my pouch.

A captain came to me seeing me al pale and asked if I was okay, I said yes and he walked away, That night I couldn't sleep and the next day we marched not as fast as usual.

    Meanwhile in the north

"My lord the Dales are again sending relieve forces to aid their trapped king."
"Let them come we will crush them!"

I put my forces on the hill so we had the height advantage and we had the advantage of further shooting. Those filthy Dales will have a hard coming to our lines

The Dales stupid as they are began running towards us uphill, due to their heavy armour they were very tired quickly and their morale became lower with the second

My archers fired on the Dales who threw their heavy shields away for having a easier time while running

The king who had hid himself in the woods ambushed my army who were firing and attacking his allies. I called on my bodyguard and I charged him as he charged me.

His bodygaurds and the king himself were not king Bard and they were easily killed by my bodygaurd.

The relieve forces seeing that their king was slaugtered retreated, my cavalry took down the routers and only escaped. However I borrowed a bow from a soldier and together with a battalion of archers I fired on him, only 1 arrow hitted him in the back and that was enough to kill him, that arrow came from me.

Those filthy Dales are defeated. Victory!!!!

Our kingdom is expanding an we are now a dominate force in the area

The Great battle of our Time

    "My Lord!!!"
    "What is it captain?"
"The enemy has been given reinforcements!"
    "When will they be here?"
    "Within the hour."
"The garisson at the blackgate has fallen to orcish troops. If we lose the battle that lies ahead, we can't escape!"

The general thinks about the risk he and his man have to face. Then he loses concience and his men immediatly begin to make him get back to them, However..

    "Where am I?"
"You are here." A mysterious came from the darkness
    "Come here and explain yourself."
"I don't take orders from you I don't take orders from anyone and I don't think to start that now, shut up and listen if you want to make through your challenge alive."
The mysterious voice pauses a few moments before he speaks again.
"The enemy as you know greatly outnumber you. The ring is near Annatar feels it."
    "Annatar?"
"The Elvish name for the Dark Lord, Annatar is as you know a ghost, a wraith not flesh, but the ring is close not yet in it's position though but it's close, close enough to enable Annatar to produce a humanly form."
"So I have to fight the Dark Lord himself?" My courage hitted rockbottom and I felt a little bit nocious
"Don't worry but yes you have to. He will lead the army that will attack you later this day. The last time he was challenged in his own land, he was attacked by men and elves, this time he only faces elves."
    "This ain't helping me though!"
"Don't interrupt me. Annatar knows that your army is far weaker then the army that faced him 1000 years ago and so he doesn't retreats his full army from the lands of Gondor and Rohan. But he still wants to be sure he defeats you, so his army still greatly outnumbers you."
    "What can I do then?"
"The plan of Annatar is simple, a small part of his army will be used as a decoy, and will attack you in the back. He expects that your natural response is that you attack it turning your back towards him and thus leaving an opening for him to attack."
"Well what can I do with that?"
"You are the general here not I. I just give you the information you may need to pas through the day and may even become victorious, I will send you back now."
    "But what."
"Don't worry I give you hope, you have a chance to win, take revenge for the death of Falathar and his fallen comrades."

After the mysterious voice had spoken I became awake with a very worried looking Elven captain next to me. General you live he shouts it out and he storms out to tell everyone in the camp. Immediatly the rest of the army wants to see me and I go to them telling them what the mysterious voice just told me. After I told them all I excuse myself and I go inside my tent calling my officers and captains with me to discuss the strategy. A few hours later we hear an Orc horn. The army we see is definitly not the main force and I understand now where the mysterious voice was talking about,

"MEN!!! This is what we have set out to do, here is were we shall clean the world from the evil of Mordor forever. Keep your courage men, show those orcs what we can do with the bow and sword, FIGHT AND BE VICTORIOUS!!!!"
    "FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT."

And so the great battle of our time began

I ordered my men to take up position on top of the mountain.

The force were the horn was coming from was to be engaged by myself

Whilst I ordered my bowmen and the swordsmen to line up at the other side of the mountain, here the hammerstroke of Sauron would fall the hardest and so more men were needed here.

Whilst I engaged the relieve force with my bodyguard I heard a Orc horn and saw that a Ocish army from Barad-Dur had come. With Sauron with his bodyguard who wore the same armour as he did as it's leader

The archers began to fire on the new threat

When the lines came to close to each other the lines clashed and the hand to hand fights commenced, the archers continued firing.

I and my superior trained bodyguard quickly killed the enemy force and we went back to the main army to assist them in their fight with Sauron and his army

I attacked them in the flanks

Our archers kept attacking the enemy force

Sauron saw me charging his flanks and he came to me to attack and kill me. We duelled and he made a hole in my pouch making the ring fall out of it. He sees the ring and ignores me, He starts to grap it but the rings rolls down the hill. When he sees it and tries to follow it I make him fall down and then I stabbed him with my blade in his back, I kept stabbing him until he doesn't move anymore,

When he dies his body explodes and killing all the orcs in the process.

Those who managed to flee away were quickly killed by my soldiers

We had won the greatest battle of our time!

After our victory we could walk inside Barad-Dur without any resistance and we celebrated the greatest victory since the battle at the slopes of mount Doom.

The following day I went to the fires of mount doom to destroy the ring of power, Isildur said in his diary that he had felt a desire to keep his great treasure, for some kind of reason I didn't fell this desire and I threw the ring just as easy away as any other thing. However shortly after I threw it away a massive earthquake occured. This earthquake destroyed every last thing that once was evil or once part of the dominion of Sauron

Default Re: [AAR] A Lord of the Rings AAR

A Lord of the Rings AAR
After this great earthquake middle earth was split and it was now shaped as you humans know it. Earth I think you call it. At first we didn't knew what to do with this new situation, however at the great council of species was decided that every specie or kingdom would get a piece from this new world. The Noldor Elves sailed out and colonised Ūub-tsīl or as it is now been called South Africa, their influence in the region plus their adaptment to the region resulted in a few civilations that you humans now call the Aztek-Mayan civilisations. Later on they sailed towards Australia
The Elves of Lothlorién went south and founded series of cities witch they called Hellas or as it is now kwown Greece.
The human kingdom of Rohan went East and settled themselves in modern day Iran, Iraque their skills with horses would remain untill the present day.
The human kingdom of Gondor went east untill they could no further and they founded current day China and Japan.
The people of Dale and the Dwarves would go south and colonize the continent of Africa. They eventually started to breed with eachother. They founded the civilisations of the Sulus but also Carthage, Though today history tells you that Carthage was founded by settlers from Palestine, that's not true, Palestine became lived due to Carthaginian colonists and Rohirrim settlers.
And we the noble Silvan Elves stayed here together with the Galadhrim but we were on the others side of the sea and we founded only one city. We called it Romestisa, eventually to be simple known as Rome, the city who after 1000 years dominated 3 continents for 500 years. After those 500 years the Lothorien and Silvan elves fled to be never seen by any other civilisation. The humans took control of the former Roman Empire, the western part fell through inner conflict, the eastern part remained lived on and was ruled the same way as we elves did it.

You may ask who me the writer is. History knows me as Maedhros, but also as Romulos, Augustus, Constantine and Justinian. After my last emperorship I fled following the lines of my brethern who had flew 200 years ago. Where we are now? Under water, living in the last city of the Elves, you may have heard of it, you have never been here except for the blind human scholar Homer. I think you humans call it Atlantis just as we do. Why I'm still alive? The black magic that caused us to be mortal faded away after Sauron was defeated. Do we all live in Atlantis? No the elves of the Noldor don't, they live hidden away in their forest cities, never seen by humans, at least not humans who ever returned to their kinsmen.

I hope you enjoyed reading my reports of the rise of the Silvan Elves.

    Appendix

You may wonder what happenend to the last important Silvan Elves and why the once great alliances between the other Elves and human kingdoms faltered so badly in this concluding chaptre I'll try to give answers to this last questions.

First up is Aredhel, the Elven commander who led the initial attack against the Dwarves and even conquered Erebor the old Dwarvish capital. Aredhel was a member of the royal family just as I was, he was the son from the daugther of Thranduil's uncle, a very far relative, of the ruling line, but nevertheless a relative. He's been known to be some kind of a coward by not leading the siege of Erebor personally(witch is also the reason that I don't have any battle reports about this battle) but also later on when he was fighting for Romestisa. After the great split up he just as the majority of the Silvan Elves went to the newly founded Romestisa fighting rebells and other bandits to gain control of the Romestisian peninsula, despite being a great commander he was infact a good ruler of cities and his ""Romestisian" laws are still being used by most European states today, in your human textbooks he's known as Marcus Tullius Cicero the great statesman of Rome and the greatest Orator of his time, but also as Brutus(the first one, he who drove out the last king of Romestisa not the one who killed the dictator) just as in the textbooks he died during the Great Civil War.

Next up is Mablung, ofcourse he is Aeneas, the Trojan boy who gaided his people to safety and prosperity, just as in your (wrong) history books he gaided his people away from the Greek horde and he landed near a river called Tiperasna, I have to apoligize but I don't know the more known human name, He was the one who founded the fundaments of what would later become the great city of Rome. Besides Aeneas human history knows him as Scipio Africanus(the man who conquered Hannibal the Dale) He is known as Pompey, Antoninius Pius, Hadrian, Trajan and Romulus Augustulus. According to human history Pompey was killed when he tried to enter Aeg’tank he actually survived this attack, neverthless mortally wounded, but he survived to become later on the greatest and the last emperors of Romestisa.

Ah yes Oropher, the great Dale butcher as he is now known. Not one blooddrop of aristrocasy in him but he nevertheless founded one of the greatest dynasties in Rome. starting out as captain Indrell nevertheless history knows him as the forefather of Licinii and later on Marcus Licinius Crassus(the general who suffered a tremendous defeat at Carrhea) The Licinii are famed for their arrogance, cruelty and greed for power and wealth, just as Oropher was, he nevertheless was a patriot in his whole heart and he always made sure that the glory of Romestisa would go before his own glory. He hated Mablung or Pompey as you know him for his whole life as Mablung could get what Oropher was denied. History also knows him as Lucullus (the Roman general who occupied Armenia and who eventually died of insanity) and emperor Nero, and with emperor Nero his story ends for he actually was murdered during his emperorship.

During the founding of Romestisa a lot more of great houses were founded, families who brought forth Remus, Julius Caesar, Marcus Aurelius, Tiberius just to name a few, however these houses never played an important role in the Elven wars of Middle-Earth and I therefore choose for the right of not naming them in my summary.

    Other information
An emperor wasn't chosen for his whole life but he was chosen for a period of three years. If he did a terrible job he was fired and someone else was offered the job, or if he did a good job he was allowed to hold the office as long as he would like to. The human history books tend to say that a emperor died so that a heir could follow him in the line of a king. Some Elves were emperor for almost a century like Mablung was, but some for a smaller amount of time like Oropher. Some Elves tried more often to become emperor and they sometimes succeeded.

The army of the Elves transformed, from the lightly armoured bowmen based armies the Romestisian armies quickly became heavily infantry typed armies, there are two main reason for this:
1 the tree were we used to make our bows from couldn't grow in the climate of Romestisian pensinsula
2 the wood we could used didn't delivered the same quality bows as we were used to, however our skills as smiths we kept and the metal quality we worked with became better, and there fore this transformation was able.

The reason for the wars between peoples who once were the closest of allies is debated for a long period of time. One of the reasons is(this reason I think is the most plausible) due to the fact that Sauron(a common enemy) was defeated our alliances became unneccasary. We didn't need our old friends anymore for we could take care for ourselves. We also saw flaws that we never saw before, The Galadhrim were arrogant, they halted the initial attack of Sauron and they though themselves masters of the earth, the Rohirrim were dumb and cowards for they never fought hand to hand but always on horseback. We never liked the Dwarves and the Dales never liked us since the great Elven-Dalish wars where we killed huge numbers of their population. After the last great council we never saw the Gondorians or the Noldor Elves again. And when we all were good and well in our newly founded kingdoms and empires we never liked our old friends back again. Though Galadhrim are our allies now as the humans are now the common enemy, for they have drives us from our home land in Romestisa and Hellas.

With these last words I conclude my report.

    Augustus Maedhros
