I just installed the last patch and EDU stuff. I could see the loading screen (BTW, I like it a lot), and before the main menu screen started I got this error message:

Script Error in data/descr_rebel_factions.txt, at line 2548, column 21.
rebel unit type 'naval pirate ship' not found in unit_db

I DL'd the last patch from the first link provided. I've noticed, however, that the size of the files in that first link is 15.34 MB while the second is 16.3 MB. Could some files be missing in the first link?

To get an RS2 beta install there are three files to download and install and two separate updates. I just did these today and put them into a clean RTW 1.5 RTW BI 1.6 install and it worked first time.

When you install the three files you need to point them to your 'game folder' (where the exes live). The other two files are updates to the data folder.

Yep, that's exactly what I did. Although if that post lists the links that must be used, then it confirms what I thought. The second patch has tow links, the first is shorter than the second. I used the first, but tone lists the second one. I guess that's what went wrong then. Will it be fine if I DL and install them over my current RS2 install? or would it be better if I start from scratch?

It would be safer to start from a clean install - that is the safest bet.

All I did was follow the instructions in this post: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...23#post5551723 it's #39. That points to a thread with two updates - the first is 9-7-09 (post #1) and later on there was the other one.

There is nothing in that thread that indicates that the updates are all in the first post....

There really needs to be one post or one thread with the first post kept up-to-date with the full set of patches and updates. I am sure that there would be less confusion then - it would also save time when referring beta testers to what they need to do to get their game up-to-date.

No problems. I still think it's going to be easier if there is a single thread with a first post that has all the downloads in it. Then it's simply a matter of pointing people to that one place.

2)Beta8_REV17_Update.zip 15,3 MB (16.093.184 bytes)

and received this error over a clean RTW 1.5 installation:

OMG, Thank God I didn't have enough time yesterday to re-install everything, or I'd have messed it up. So, what I'm supposed to do now is to DL and install everything listed in the first post, aren't I? I'll wait for a confirmation to proceed. thank you guys.

I suspect you missed out on update 2 which is 200MB or so and includes the new descr_projectiles.txt

Just to let you guys know that I had it work. I used the second link for the second update. I suggest you to remove the first and shorter link since that was the one that caused the issues that I experienced
