Consistent Pre-Campaign CTD

I'm tired of reinstalling, EB. During every single time I've attempted reinstallation from different source sites, the campaign always CTDs right before starting up, and furthermore always in the same way.
The loading bar fills up to what I estimate at 85%, and suddenly it freezes for a few seconds and then RTW crashes without explanation, none of my error reporting mechanisms could detect the problem.

Furthermore, ironically enough, the EB Installation Validation script itself seems to have a recurrent error as well. It says that "the filename 'validationresults' could not be found, create new document?".
I have Vista, and have installed EB outside of program files, and have even tried installing 1.0 but it suffers from precisely the same error. RTW seems to run fine, and I have made sure to wipe out all traces of
EB files after each uninstall. It appears that the file you guys uploaded to the various sites just doesn't want to co-operate with my computer in the slightest. Any help would be appreciated.

Update: I've managed to fix the issue by completely eradicating the last vestiges of Rome: Total War off my computer and completely reinstalling everything, following procedures like having separate mod folders. Seems to work fine now, so I'm requesting this thread to be locked.
