Best Tolkien Death scene

So here's my first poll, best lore death scene. I'll confine myself to LOTR and Hobbit, as I am not so sure about the details of Glaurung copping it in the guts or Beren and Luthien's numerous deaths.

My favorite is Smaug. Falling in flames on Laketown, he goes down swinging like the destructive beast he is.

Boromir. After being so selfish and corrupted to Frodo, he makes his last stand defending the least of the Fellowship. So unfair yet so poetic.

Oh and Theoden was squashed by Snowmane not a Mumak.

Fingolfin being stamped into the dirt by Morgoth! or Feanor being grouped up on by numerous Balrogs or the whole Fall of Gondolin! I vote Beorn crushing Bolg and his bodyguard.ps,not sure Theoden was squashed by a mumak! not before his horse fell on him anyway!

man it's tough, bolg's, denthor's, and smaug all have very awesome deaths.....but the Balrog's is epic; The last remaining corrupted spirit of Aule cast down on a mountain top and as a result gandalf gets a upgrade

you forgot the two best:
1- Turing Turambar kill himself after he discover that his pregnat wife comited suicide after she discover that they were brothers.
2- A figth between Glofindel and a Balrog during the downfall of Gondolin, resulting on a tie (both of them died)

edit: this are my two favorites, but there are dozens of them in the Silmarilion that (imo) deserve to be in that list

i like when during the 3rd great battle, the last human commander stands his ground at a river and is captured but only because he is covered in bodies of orcs and cant move, WHAT A BADASS

Theoden was not crushed by a Mumak. The Witch-King brought down his horse with a poisoned dart, and the horse crushed Theoden as it writhed in pain.

Also, you forgot Boromir's death.

You should have included the great heroic death scenes from the Silmarillion . These include:

--Feanor's last stand, when he died surrounded by orcs and his fiery spirit consumed his body after he expired.
--Huor's death at the Nirnaeth Arnoediad, fighting at the side of his brother Hurin, who was captured
--Turin's suicide, when he threw himself on his sword Anglachel
--Beren's death at the claws of Charcharoth
--Glorfindel, who fought Gothmog and each killed the other
--Fingolfin's death as he fought Morgoth one-on-one
--Fingon's death at the Nirnaeth Arnoediad

And many more...

You should line them up: greatest First Age death scenes. Start with the two trees (are they the first recorded deaths in the S?) and take it from there.

Can one edit poll options once set? I would add Boromir of course, and the Wolf cheiftan that Gandalf and Legolas tag with the burning arrow. Also Gollum in the lava, oh FFS I'm no good at this.

I think you may be able to edit polls. Not sure, I haven't posted a poll thread in a while.

I've read The Silmarillion about 3 times . It's my favorite of Tolkien's works, since it is full of stories that are each at least as good as LOTR.

Those are exactly what I thought , all of these are great scenes. I cant decide between them, I love them all .

I've always thought that Thorins stand at The Lonely Mountain and those of his 2 younger nephews (can't remember their names) while defending his body of getting mouled was quite emotional.
