Frustrated and confused

Hello, I am a huge fan of Rome total war. I beat Rome original 10 million times as well as barbarian invasion and alexander. Reading up about realism made me pretty excited so I desperately want to play it. The problem is, I downloaded patches that didnt work, eventually finding the Platinum version. I dled the platinum version, and ran the 1.3 and 1.5 patch, then installed platinum. I eventually took me to the menu in which I selected the rome faction to see how the gameplay is...THEN BLACK, NOTHING!!!, it just says it encountered a problem and needs to quit. NO GAMEPLAY WHATSOEVER!!!! i am furious!!! I really want to play this mod...if anyone can help me it would mean so much, countless google searches gave me nothing.

You should have a new desktop shortcut multiplayer battle reset or something like that. Run that and then start the game again.

Hit and miss, same old crappola...any other suggestions?

Well, try to reinstall your RTW and patch it up to 1.5 if necessary. Then download the appropiate RTR edition if you have RTW or BI. Make sure you install it in the same folder as RTW. I am using the mod switch version for RTR and have no problems using it. I haven't used the original RTW desktop launcher, only the RTRPE one.

Well if you used modswitch then the origional loads vanilla

Hello,

I had the same problem when I started...however I just tried it the "same way" another time and it seemed to work...so I am not much help on that front.

However...once you do get it working, I suggest copy the whole directory to another drive...this way you can just paste it onto a new computer... did this for my three systems (2 lappies and a desktop) and it always works fine...saves a lot of time (especially when messing with your own/others mods that dont seem to work)

just my advice...this game is great so keep trying, you won't be disappointed.

best bet is to reinstall a vanilla rtw as you said you have played alexander and barbarian invasion so that might of messed some of the files up. so reinstall rtw and pimp it up to 1.5
