How do I remove the limit on units?

Say I want to make more than 6 puckle guns, or more guards or something. How would I go about doing that?

patch.pack/db/units_tables/units - find the unit you want, scroll to the end and the 7th column from the end says 'unit limit'. Change this to 0 to make this unlimited.

How do I open it? my pack file manager won't open it.

You need the latest version of PFM, 1.11b.

I have the latest version (actually it says version 1.10, but the zip file I downloaded says 1.11) and I have re-downloaded it several times to be sure. It seems that many people have the same problem as me as well.

I have the same and when i edit the units file in pack file manager i need to use two versions 1.10 & 1.11!!

I downloaded a mod so I could play Scotland but it won't let me recruit more than 10 line infantry units. It is a pain how they have made so few units for Scotland to use but I guess we were not ment to play them, they don't even have some of the Scotish units the British do. lol

Install the DB Editor, start that editor up, select the patch.pack(s) you're interested in, and then scroll down to the unit_tables entry. To edit any column in that entry, however, I recommend that you let DBE create a new pack (mod) file including the tables you want to change, and edit those. Then you'll have to activate that mod to see the changes in effect in the game. In this way, if something goes wrong with the changes, then it's easy to revert back to vanilla (original) function.
