I'm having a serious problem. All parts of the game are working fine except for the actual playing.
I can navigate through the strategy map on the campaign. I can access the online server. I can change settings and view anything from the menu. But every time I start a game up, the bar loads completely, and than the game crashes and I'm sent to my desktop, can somebody please tell me what I can do to play?

Also, this happens on both Rome Total War, and the Barbarian Expansion,

Your video chip won't play it. You need 256mb minimum.

    Which I still find interesting.

I used to play RTW (without BI or ALX) also on my old PC which has an old Radeon 128mb...of course it didn't run smoothly, I had to set graphics to the lowest levels, but it worked...

Why don't you put your 128mb card in this one so you can play?

    It's an hp pavilion.
It's not like it sucks. I never bought a decent video card. It's the internal card it came with that sucks.

Sadly it isn't, it's just from like 2005?
I've reformatted it 3 times already.
It was hacked by something called surfside hijacker?
And then it was contaminated with spyware.
It has been through hell. I'm lucky I can still play games like Age of Empires, and RPG's and stuff like that. Although Rome Total War is my favorite.. And it's the only one I can't play.

If it isn't a laptop (which nazmus asked but you didn't answer): Have you looked at adding a cheap graphics card? I am sure a budget card will be a lot better than on-board graphics (depending upon budget).

Are you after some advice about how to install a graphics card?

I presume you may not be though.

HP says there over 300 products that are HP Pavillion 061. Exactly which product version is yours?
Run dxdiag and post the results.

I think what is happening is that you're responding to someone who used to have the same machine - not the original poster.

    It's getting a bit confusing.

Sorry for not being more specific. It was intended to GoodKarma as he is the one list the machine in his specs.

http://www.buy.com/prod/hp-pavilion-.../10385650.html is what you have it isn't made for 3d gaming very long. 512mb of ram being shared with the video card will keep you from playing. It only has a AGP slot and with those for all intents and purposes out of date, are going to be hard to come by. ATI has a 3800 series AGP card that will play it for a while. You need more memory and your machine can only hold 2 gig so your game options are limited.
