    Chapter 7: 1760 - 1769 Descent into Madness

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    State of the Nation
Queen Anne I didn't even want to read the 1760 "State of the Nation" report. Instead, she celebrated her 56th birthday by holding a tea party with 10,000 pigs at St James Palace. As well as the "London Pig Party", Anne made it a crime to eat bacon in the Summer months (which almost caused a minor revolution in the lower classes), was often seen streaking around the palace grounds, and had caused several important officials and political rivals to (literally) lose their heads. Anne was well on her way to being completely insane. Despite her mental and personal shortcomings, Anne had now been in control of the English Empire for 23 years. England now controls 65 regions around the world, 14 in Europe, 17 in India, 34 in the Americas, and the population was nearly 300 million. In the last ten years the yearly profit had increased 200% - England was now making over 35,000 pounds a year.

In Europe, England continues to actively plan the campaign against the Prussian's - after over 10 years of planning, an invading army is finally on the high seas and is only weeks from landing and attacking the first target, Berlin. The Barbary States are gone, but now England is deep in a war with the Ottoman Empire in the Middle East. The major issue here is not the strength of the Ottoman army, but the distance between each capital. It is taking years to march from one region to another, which is causing morale to be lower than normal. With 3 armies, Anne is hoping to keep the campaign there relatively short, one army is scheduled to move from the Northwest through Greece and Turkey, another from the East (and India) moving through Iran, and the 3rd moving from the Southeast through Egypt.

In the Americas, General Rodney is traveling over the great plains towards the last Indian nation, Pueblo Nations. The Pueblo Indians now know of England's intent, as Anne sent a message declaring war to the Indians, (the Pueblo Indians sent the messager's scalp back), and spies indicate they are training and building up forces around the Texas capital.

In India - with no war - the continent is flourishing. Anne has invested much of England's wealth into the area, and the resulting tax and trade profits have been very lucrative. Most of the continent has been converted to the Protestant religion, although Goa is still controlled by Sweden. With the Sweden/England alliance being very successful and Anne's love of Sweden, no plans have been made to annex the region.

    The Invasion of Prussia
in 1760, Admiral Adam Duncan's fleet spotted a Prussian fleet while sailing past the city of Copenhagen.

The battle was short and brutal, with no Prussian sailors spared. Admiral Duncan then sailed the short distance to the port just a few days march from Berlin and unloaded the troops.

Led by General Sir Henry Clinton, the troops marched the short distance to Berlin with 660 Grenadiers, 90 cavalry, 6 Mortars, and 6 Rocket catapults - a recent English invention. The 'rockets' were cased in a strong iron tube. They weighed about 32 pounds, and although not very accurate, were a sight to behold. (On an interesting historical side note, Wikipedia notes that these rockets were the source of the Star Spangled Banner's "Rockets' red glare" line, referring to rockets fired on Fort McHenry in 1814 at the Battle of Baltimore.) The Prussian army was led by General Michalka, and was assembled on the other side of the city, ready to fight.

The Prussians were scattered as the first rockets landed amongst the troops.

Attempting to reorganize the troops, General Michalka directed the troops to attack the English - while Clinton ordered his men to stay in line and let the rockets and mortars do the work.

Every time a rocket was fired towards the Prussians, they scattered, abandoning their formations. By the time the Prussians were within range to fire on the English, most of the regiments were not in position. The defense collapsed and England captured Berlin.

The Decline of the Ottoman Empire
As Berlin was being captured, Syria and Greece were also both captured from the Ottoman Empire.

In 1761 Breslau was captured from the Prussians, and then in 1762, Baghdad was also captured from the Ottoman Empire. The England armies were better equipped and outnumbered their opponents 3-2. By the close of 1762, only Armenia was left in the control of the Ottoman Empire.

The Quest for the Holy Grail
Anne was starting to become a burden to the English parliament. As well as her embarrassing antics, she would commonly barge into the middle of long parliament sessions and start ridiculous debates. In March of 1763, she wanted to declare war on the Knights of Saint John on the island on Malta. Her reasoning? She had believed that the holy grail was stored in a vault there. There had to be some give and take, and parliament reasoned that declaring war on a small nation is surely better than declaring war on a larger nation such as Russia or Austria. Therefore, war was declared...

A small army was sent to capture and pillage Malta.

    Prague
Just a week late, a message arrived from General Clinton describing a glorious win over Prussia and the capture of Prague.

Nearly 3000 troops were involved on a battle that occurred on a perfect spring day.

General Clinton began the battle by bombarding the city with rockets and mortars.

Although it was impressive for all, (and scary for the recipients of these rockets), the rockets were not quite as effective as they were in Berlin.

Dodging the rockets, the Prussians were able to reach the English in relatively well ordered formations.

General Clinton had arranged the English in good positions with plenty of cover, and although the rockets didn't really damage the Prussian armies directly, it did affect their strategy, and they were never really able to attack the English with the full force of their army.

After several hours of sparing back and forth, the Prussians finally fled the field, and England captured Prague.

    Malta & The Holy Grail
In 1764, as news was received in England that East Prussia had been captured from the Prussians, an army of over 1500 men led by General Rodham landed on Malta and attacked the Knights of Saint John capital, Valletta.

The capital was protected by a ring of fortresses, originally built to support the crusades and protect from Ottoman invasion, they were now powerful defensive position against the English invaders.

Surrounding the fortress, the English climbed the battlements from all sides. Most of the Knights were lined up on the South wall, and it was there that England had one of it's bloodiest battles in history.

As the Knights could not protect all the walls, a couple regiments were able to line up on the East wall unchallenged, where they had a commanding position to fire into the mounted knights in the courtyard below. The knights there decided it was time to charge into the field, and retreated to the South Gate.

Hiding in the long grass outside the South Entrance, two regiments of English were waiting to climb the South walls, but were pleasantly surprised to find the mounted knights trotting out of the South gate. The knights were not expecting 200 English soldiers with loaded guns pointed at them, and were not so pleasantly surprised to be showered with a volley of bullets.

Charging back inside but realizing that the English would be right behind them and have free reign over the entire castle, several regiments of pike men were sent through the gate to hold back the English. Less than 10 minutes later, fewer than 1 out of every 10 pike men came back through the gate...

Meanwhile the battle on the South wall was not going quite to plan. The battlements were soaked in blood and hundreds of men from both sides lay dead and dying. The drummer from the 15th Regiment was seen standing in shock amongst the bodies of his entire regiment unable to do anything except continue to play his drums...

Although the battle was bloody, the English began to get the upper hand and forced the Knights to retreat to the center of the courtyard... where they bravely faced a firing squad of English. Now the search for the Holy Grail began on Malta, a Holy Grail that Anne so desperately wanted to own.

    The Ottoman Decline (de?)Accelerates
It was the 23rd of June, and the Ottoman Sultan was in a panic. On the outskirts of Yerevan, deep within Armenia, an English army was marching towards his city. They could be seen from his bedroom window, less than a KM away. So far he had been powerless to stop the English. He had to admit defeat, English troops just wanted to win more, and fought like devils. As the sounds of musket fire grew closer, the Sultan locked himself at the top of his Palace, and set fire to the building. The Ottoman Empire was lost, but he would not be captured alive...

As the fire roared below, and scorched him on the roof, the Sultan watched from a tower with awe as the English troops defeated his own with ease... before the floor beneith him collapsed and he fell to his death (On that day, as an army of over 1000 Ottoman soldiers were defeated, only 27 Englishmen were killed or wounded)

    Last of the Pueblo Indians
Chief Attacullaculla was the last of the big chiefs. He had known that the English would eventually come, and thought he was ready, having swapped many buffalo hides for Muskets from the Spanish in the South.

General Rodney had become an expert on tribal warfare. Often facing overwhelming numbers of Indians, most other nations would have cracked and been massacred. Not General Rodney, who was about to face the last of the Pueblo Indians in Texas. Rodney was nearly outnumbered 2 to 1, but was confident that he would win on this day. The plains were dry and dusty and the day was sunny and hot, it was perfect conditions to win a battle.

As the English lined up for half a mile in either direction, the Pueblo Indians approached cautiously. Rodney started to worry if he had been over confident. There were Indians as far as the eye could see, but because of the way they kept appearing between the trees and grass, it looked like there were well over 2000 Indians here...

The Indians began to test the lines, crawling in the dirt they would suddenly jump out of the underbrush less than 30 feet from the English lines and charge into their ranks. Sometimes the English were lucky and spotted them before they were too close...

...other times the Indians reached the front lines and it was hand to hand combat... tomahawks vs. bayonets.

Attacullaculla realized it was now or never, and charged across the plains...

After nearly an hour of battle, Rodney finally began to get more confident and ordered his cavalry to charge into the Indians.

The very underbrush that had helped to keep the Indians hidden, helped to hide the bodies of thousands... and with that, in 1764, the era of the free American Indian was over.

    Georgia
In 1765, Georgia declared war on England. It was commonly understood by Georgian nobles that England was unlikely to stop at Armenia, so they attempted to attack the English armies on the border of Armenia first. This backfired completely as England flanked around the main Georgian forces and captured the capital. With no real leadership, most of the Georgian forces melted into the countryside and the rest were destroyed.

Meanwhile, in the center of Europe, spies reported that the last Prussian region Poland was attacked by Austria - a sneaky attempt by Austria to capture the last region from an empire on it's back foot. With most of Prussia's forces on the North Border fighting the English, the plan almost worked - but the Austrians were repulsed at a terrible cost for Prussia, 90% of their remaining Elite forces were killed and only militia, a couple cannons and some cavalry remained to defend the city...

As the Austrians rushed to bring reinforcements into position to take the city, English forces were also brought down from the North and Warsaw was captured with ease - and with that final blow, Prussia was destroyed. The Austrian's withdrew back into their lands...

The Search for the Holy Grail Continues...
With Prussia gone, Queen Anne was pleased, but furious that the search of Malta had not revealed the Holy Grail. Entering a new level of religious fever, she ordered envoys declaring war to be sent to Savoy and Genoa, sure that the Holy Grail has escaped to one of these cities. Simultaneously, envoys were also sent to Dagestan - and more significantly - Russia - where Sweden was also asked to join the war and fight. England also declared war on Denmark, (Who were only located in Iceland now), and sent a small force to Iceland. England was now at war with 5 new nations.

1766 was relatively uneventful except that Savoy and Dagestan were invaded and captured. A search of Savoy still revealed no holy grail...

Genoa was captured in 1767, but there the trail for the holy grail went stone cold (although it was noted later, the trail was never more than luke warm). Furious about the non-existence of the Holy Grail, Queen Anne directed her attention on the Catholic Church and declared war on the Italian States, Venice, Westphalia and Württemberg. Landing off the coast of Iceland, Denmark was another casualty as the speed of the English campaign picked up. Meanwhile Russia had sent some small armies to skirmish and learn more about the English army, but unfortunately for Russia, the English armies were so powerful there were very few survivors left to discuss their strategies.

None of the small nations had a chance, and over the next 3 years, the Italian States, Venice, Westphalia and Württemberg were all systematically conquered, as well as most of the poorly defended Eastern Russian empire. The fall of Rome was a particularly highlight for Queen Anne, who sent several powerful members of the English church to torture Vatican City officials for information of relics there.

    Summary
England was expanding faster than Anne's mind could disintegrate, but with most of the smaller single city states were captured... soon only the powerful European nations would be left...

    Chapter 8: 1770 - 1779 World War Zero

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

State of the Nation It was 1770, Queen Anne I was to shortly celebrate her 66th Birthday - and it was also the 33rd year she had been Queen of the English Empire. Sitting with her advisors and select members of Parliament, she was going over the 1770 State of the Nation. The English Empire now contained about 390 million people in 91 regions, 36 in Europe, 16 in India, and 39 in America. The yearly profit had tripled since 1760, mostly due to tax and trade income. England was becoming extremely good at managing it's captured regions, converting them to Protestantism, building up the roads and infrastructure, and upgrading farms and factories around the lands.

In Europe, England is at war with 2 nations, Westphalia and Russia. Russia has been reduced to 6 regions - half of which have English troops campaigning inside of. England controls the entire Middle East, the long North African coast, Greece, the Balkans, much of the Italy & the surrounding islands, and the Northern part of Eastern Europe. With Prussia defeated, it seems a logical choice to send reinforcements East to help in the Russian campaign and capture Moscow, but Poland-Lithuania is unfortunately in the middle.

In the Americas, General Rodney is relaxing on the Mexican coast, awaiting the expected news that England has declared war on Spain - the last opponent in the Americas.

In India, Goa is still controlled by Sweden, and the area continues to grow and fill the English treasury with many successful trade ventures in exotic goods and a very very large growing (and taxable) population.

    The English Inquisition
Anne called a meeting with the entire English Parliament early in 1770. Addressing all members, Anne knew she needed the complete support of the parliament. Outlining England's successes aboard, and England's gain since she had taken power, it was hard to argue with her, even when she regularly went into crazy rants and got that evil glint in her eyes when she talked about conquering the world. It was true that her argument was one sided, but Anne's fears that the rest of Europe would rise up and attack her were not unfounded. There were many reports and rumors from spies abroad that the Spanish and Austrians were in negotiations to crown a new pope and create a "Global Alliance" against England. Russia was understood to be fully behind the talks, which were taking place in Madrid.
"We must attack Spain immediately!" Anne declared, "We can not let Catholic nations take back the control we have regained!".

Earlier in the year England had finally captured the Pope, who was found hiding in a hole just outside of Rome. He was immediately but on trial and hung as an example. Anne was now attempting to draw together an agreement that she named the "English Inquisition", to get revenge for the Spanish Inquisition, which Queen Isabella II of Spain still supported. The goal of England's Inquisition was to remove the power from behind the Catholic religion and the nations that supported the Pope.
"We must fight back, before a new pope is crowned and we are attacked!" Anne screeched.
These statement drew cheers from most of the noblemen in session, and soon many were calling for a pre-emptive strike against Spain and Austria.
After much debate that lasted throughout the night, at 3pm the next day, it was finally agreed. War was going to be declared across Europe, and as well as Spain and Austria, war was also declared against Poland-Lithuania and Bavaria.

Sweden joined on England's side (it really had little choice - as Sweden now feared the day that Anne might die and lose one of the biggest supporters of their alliance).

As the year passed, reports started to trickle in of battles from all over the empire, and in the early months of 1771, the real fighting began. News about battles against the Spanish fleet off the coast of Brazil and the Ivory Coast were examined - where England decisively lost all their naval battles against far superior Spanish ships. Marauding Spanish armies were destroying the French countryside as they worked their way North to Paris, and the Dutch staged a minor rebellion.

    The Defense of Poland
On a cold and rainy winter afternoon in 1771, Austria attacked Poland. With only 369 men, Corporal Joshua Bradley was the ranking English officer and took control of the defense. Setting up in one of the fortress's surrounding the capital, over 700 Austrian troops lined up and prepared to battle.

Joshua situated the men along the South wall of the battlements, manning cannons and hoping the advantage of high ground would help slow the Austrians down. Standing on the battlements waiting for the first Austrian move, Joshua heard the boom of artillery as the battle commenced.

The Austrians marched directly up to the the front of the wall, the entire time, Grenadiers were showering the enemy with exploding grenades, and firing on the Austrians.

Finally they climbed the walls, and at this stage Joshua withdrew the troops to the courtyard. England had yet to suffer a casualty, yet the Austrians had lost over 60 men. Garrisoning as many men as possible in the barracks inside the fortress, Joshua personally situated himself within two regiments of Grenadiers in the center of the courtyard. Picking up as many grenades as possible from the other garrisoned units, they prepared for the coming battle.

As the front of the fortress collapsed from artillery fire, the first of the Austrian soldiers made it to the top of the walls and started to charge down the stairs.

The front gates were opened and Austrian cavalry charged in and towards Joshua. Everyone held two grenades and at Joshua's orders threw them at the charging Austrians, and then picked up their rifles and got off a shot.

In less then 20 seconds, 3 quarters of the cavalry was dead. The rest of them were blown from their horses, and shot as they attempted to retreat.

As the Austrian footmen all made their way through the Main South Gate, the rest of the English troops assembled in a long line in the center of the courtyard. The Austrians attacked...

It was a bloody battle, another regiment of Austrian cavalry attempted to charge and break the English lines. Some of the English militia broke and ran, but the rest of the Grenadiers - still led by a brave Joshua - held firm. After several hours of battle, the Austrians retreated and the English were victorious. Joshua was a hero, and several months later was promoted to General.

    The War Continues
In 1772 a completely undefended Mexico was captured. General Joshua Bradley defended Poland from another Austrian attack - although this time with reinforcements and more experience. Munich was captured destroying the Bavarian nation. Madrid was also captured by General Rodney, and ports in Portugal were blockaded as another English army was unloaded. With only Moscow and Ukraine left in the Russian empire, Russia withdrew all their forces from Ukraine to protect the capital. Ukraine then rebelled from it's Russian repressors.

1773 was a huge year for England. First Lisbon and Gibraltar were captured from the Spanish. With the Iberia Peninsula under English control, Queen Isabel of Spain was forced to retreat to the Island of Sardinia - the last Spanish controlled region in Europe.

Moscow was captured from the Russians, who couldn't quite recall their troops from Ukraine early enough to organize a good defense. The remaining Russian Royal family were shot and killed as they attempted to flee.

In the midst of a bloody internal revolution in the aftermath of the Russian withdrawal, Ukraine was captured with little bloodshed.

Vienna, Hungry and Istanbul were all captured from the floundering Austrians. The net result of this was that Russia was destroyed, and Austria and Spain were crippled, both of their empires splintered. and divided.

    The Battle of the "Carl's"
Austria responded by ordering Austrian Admiral Carl Reinhold to attack the English fleet led by Admiral Carl Brown off the coast of Bosnia on the Adriatic Sea.

The Austrian fleet looked impressive, with 12 ships - compared to England's 6 - although 4 of the Austrian ships were older galleys with only a few cannons, and 2 nearly crippled brigs, so the battle was nearly even.

Admiral Brown sailed Northwest, and strafed the entire Austrian fleet. The Galleys were no match for the bigger English ships and several of them exploded.

Admiral Reinhold attempted to split the Austrian fleet into two to fire on the English from both sides, but this just enabled the English to destroy the Austrians twice as fast. As Admiral Reinhold's ship started to burn, his last thought was that he had made a terrible mistake attacking the English like this. Then his ships powder store exploded...

England had again proven that they were a powerful nation that could not be beaten.

    1774
In 1774 England destroyed the remains of the Poland-Lithuania empire when it captured Crimea. Meanwhile Queen Maria Theresia of Austria wanted revenge for the loss of 3 regions and her prize fleet (little did she realize the effects that her budget cuts had on the effectiveness of that fleet). Pulling crack soldiers from all regions, she assembled a force in an attempt to recapture Hungry. Numbering over 1000 men, General Geffter marched to Hungry. England spies discovered this troop movement, and with the help of General Conway, set up an ambush in a small town in central Hungry.

It was a cold wet winter morning and visibility was poor. Taking advantage of this, Conway ordered the cavalry to first charge into the Austrian artillery. Taken completely by surprise they were wiped out.

Wheeling the Austrian linemen off the road, General Geffter ordered the Austrian linemen into formation, facing up the gentle farmland towards the English. Conway knew the Austrian troops were slightly better than the English linemen, and larger, but would not admit it - besides - he had the high ground! Reaching range of one another, musket fire was heard up and down the valley. A lone tree in the center of the battle was peppered with metal bullets.

Suddenly there were bright lines from the far side of the road - it was rockets! Conway couldn't see where they were coming from, but he had somehow missed some rocket artillery in the fog. The rockets went high into the air, and Conway laughed, "these are going to fly right over the linemen, those Austrian fools!" ...

In horror Conway realized the rockets were not aimed at the linemen at all, they were meant for him. He could do little as he watched 3 rockets land right on his bodyguard regiment and explode. 12 bodyguards were instantly killed and General Conway was thrown from his horse. Rising quickly, he remounted his slightly injuried horse and ordered his remaining bodyguards to withdraw - out of Rocket range, but only 3 other bodyguards were able to retreat with him... the rest were dead...

Shaken, Conway ordered the English troops to march at the Austrians. The Austrians withdrew across the road and into a large field. The weather cleared a little, and it was then that Conway could see the rocket artillery. Ordering his cavalry to charge into their rear, he exacted revenge for the loss of his bodyguards.

With the hill and height still behind them, the English continued to march on the Austrians, firing round after round into their rapidly depleting ranks.

General Geffter held on as long as he could - he knew he couldn't go back to Queen Maria with news of a loss, until he himself was hit by a bullet and died. This was a very decisive victory for England, as it was known that the Austrian empire was now effectively defenseless...

    Land Grab
In 1775, the English landed on Sardinia to fight the last European stronghold of the Spanish. Mostly undefended, Queen Isabel was quickly captured and imprisoned. Spain was no more - and without the European repression, The greedy Spainish colonies in America all regressed into independent rebel nations - rather than group together to fight the English. Guatemala fell to the rebels quickly, and Cuba was next.

All that was left in Europe was Austria, but with no forces to defend their land, they could do little but watch the English march in. Croatia and Bulgaria were both captured.

In 1776 King Karl XII of Sweden offered England a deal to swap Netherlands for Hannover, Goa and 1000 pounds. Queen Anne was reluctant to lose one of her favorite regions, she loved to holiday in Amsterdam, but could not say no to her cousin. England finally had control over all of India - and Hannover was a very fair trade. England accepted.

In 1776, Transylvania and Bosnia were captured from the Austrians, and then in 1777, in an anticlimactic event, the last Austrian region, Belgrade was captured with little loss, destroying the Austrian empire. The final battle was reported to be little more than a large scale surrender. Europe was now completely under England's control (with the exception of their allies Sweden). In the Americas, Santa Domingo was captured from the rebel pirates, and the Americas were finally under complete English control. King Karl died in late 1779, and in his place, Queen Elronora I was crowned Queen of Sweden. Queen Anne invented some crazy conspirary in her head that Karl had been murdered - even though he was over 80 years old and had been in ill health for many year. Queen Anne did not like her much younger cousin Elronora - especially when Elronora officially attempted to buy Windward Islands and Carnatic from England for Rifled Cannons knowledge and 310 pounds - an insulting offer.

    Summary
With no enemies left to fight, what was left to do for England?

    Chapter 9: 1780 - 1789 Peace at last

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    State of the Nation

It was 1780 and the great war had ended. England was victorious and Anne threw money around the empire for various celebrations. The English Inquisition was also declared a success. Although Queen Anne was wise enough to not hunt out and kill Catholics, she was actively encouraging her citizens to be Protestant. As well as tax breaks for citizens who attended a Protestant church, the Catholic cathedrals were torn down and replaced with bigger and more beautiful Protestant cathedrals. Looking over the 1880 State of the Nation, it was a joy to see large areas of red on the English Empire maps. The English Empire now contained 130 regions, including 18 in India, 42 in America, and 70 in Europe. The yearly profit was now about 140,000 pounds and the population was a staggering 540 million people. Anne is 76, an old lady, and completely nuts, if not for the English Parliament that manages a good deal of England's direction, the country would probably have been long conquered - and despite the recent outrageous requests of Sweden, refuses to go to war against them.

In Europe, Sweden controlled just 7 regions, the rest was England's.

It pleased Anne to finally see the Americas all red on the map.

India was also pleasing to look at for Anne now that England controlled Goa again.

    The 1783 Census
With England is at war with no one, taxes are dropped to an absolute minimum, populations flourish and with all the money that is still raised, money is poured into local region infrastructure and city development. There are basically no budgets. The people are happy. With nothing else to do, in 1783, a census is made to find the biggest and most successful cities. The top 5 Regions are declared to be:
    1. France ($25268 & a staggering 114.7 Million people)
    2. England ($24514 & 24.9 Million)
    3. Hindustan ($16340 & 40.2 Million)
    4. Carnatica ($16310 & 4.0 Million)
    5. Moscow ($15828 & 4.3 Million).

    Diplomacy at Work

In 1785, Queen Ulrika Elconora I of Sweden asks to buy Northwest Territories and Corsica for a pitiful 380 pounds. Anne is furious, but is in such an advanced stage of madness and disease, she can only cough from her bed and throw her breakfast at the servants.

1787, Queen Elconora has another offer, Trinidad & Tobago and Malta for Sheet Lead Cartridges technology. England refuses again - their research and development is also in an advanced stage and is sure to discover this technology themselves soon...

    Summary
England is becoming rather boring and Sweden is becoming quite annoying, but Anne refuses to go to war with Sweden... England will have to wait for her to die... She is 85 years old in 1789... how much longer do the people of the English Empire have to wait to become world conquerers? On the positive side, nearly every region has fully developed infrastructure and city buildings...

Chapter 9 is a short chapter. It took a long time to play because I was upgrading everyone's buildings, which isn't very interesting to write about, and I really wanted Anne to stay in Character and not attack Sweden - although I did enjoy how annoying they were - it makes it a lot easier to show a deteriorating relationship. I promise the final chapter will be much more interesting.

Don't go to war with Sweden, Sweden is awesome... I don't know, add Prussia in and give them ridiculous amounts of gold and military units... then it'll get interesting

Really good AAR, would be awesome if the public finally had enough of Anne and staged a revolution and then went on to conquering Sweden

Prussia died roughly 10-15 years earlier.

Yep, she is nearly 90 years old - pretty impressive for 1790 - let alone 1990.

Ha! That would have been a neat little story, but I thought it more realistic to keep the current government. The people are happy, nearly all regions have fully developed infrastructures and city buildings, and taxes are set as low as possible (without being off). The people can't complain - things are better than they have ever been

Great AAR! I can hardly wait for the next chapter. I'm curious, since I don't own ETW yet (give me a couple weeks!) - is Queen Anne really insane in-game? Is that something the computer does, or is that simply a genius invention for this AAR?

It's purely artistic and creative license. I looked it up on Wikipedia, (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anne_I), and it looks like she was relatively sane. I just liked the idea that Anne was mad, as it helps to explain England's aggressive nature and makes the story more interesting...
