Default What do you feel when you play a mod?

Sorry, the title should be changed to which ever mod you pick. RS, RTR, SPQR etc...

What do you feel when you play Vanilla or Mods?

FOR ME IT IS ALL THE MODS

My answer. (When i play with mods)

I feel like everything is darker and not the right timeline it should be (even when it is)
I feel like the units are different and artificial
It feels like the factions are independent
It feels like i am alone when i play it

My answer. (When i play vanilla)

I feel like everything is up to date and every faction is cooperative.
I love the 4 roman families
It doesnt feel like i am alone when i fight a war

    Playing DarthMod atm..

Vanilla- crap AI, incomplete factions (greeks most notably), ugly unit cards/unit skins lots of imbalanced units and factions, etc

DarthMod 8 - new fun campaign maps to chose from, many many new units, challenging AI, visually better units and many more

there are lots of good mods out there that give the game whole new meaning... however in MP vanilla is the pretty much our only opion

When I play a mod it immerses me more, but makes the game more of a simulation. Not complaining about it but with vanilla I play a lot of multiplayer so I get the great gameplay rush that you don't experience with mods.

When i play vanilla it's like i have the game for the first time. When i play a mod it's like a totally other game, but mods like realism gives me a better feeling with diplomacy improvements etc. But the original game is still the best!

Eh I like being in control more and I hate the civil wars where you have to kill off most of the enemy territory.

A good mod I would recommend to the OP is The First Triumvirate, its in the FRRE forum.

For me, mods like Europa Barbarorum and Broken Crescent2 (for M2TW) are vast improvements on the vanilla game, I seem to get more immersed - EB turned me into a frightened bean counter, I daren't attack unless I could balance the books, which is not like me at all, and the AI is more of a challenge. I have also played mods that looked and felt somehow false, I hated the way RTR looked, and, even tho' the gameplay was great, I just couldn't get on with it.

Saying that, I still go back to vanilla, as it's a little easier/lighter on the brain, like a holiday!

I'm playing XGM for a long time and nothing can make me go back to Vanilla. I hated it, and I remember it in every awesome moment in I play in XGM. That colorful and lame unit looks, crappy diplomacy, boring and unbalanced battles (instant routes etc), very very limited and historically inaccurate unit selection, tiny map .. Yeah, vanilla simply sucks.
