    Default Regarding Imperial troops

    Okay fellas,
very simply. I dunno who ever got there I have taken out the Senate quite comfortably without any big problems, I got Rome now and I am upgrading every possible barracks to the best level, which enables me to train Imperial Legions. besides the fact that I have to scrap the old republic ones (most got badly hit by Senate anyways), and replace them. However I wonder if the time is right, or I did miss some event? I mean I could train them in any city even before the Rome capture thingie and I am kind of confused whether to use them as off now. Anybody help?

oh, and I got a nice crash thing hapening- When I click on Masilia, it crashes to desktop on about 40% occasions. -ne running, any suggestions etc

You need to destroy Carthage and upgrade all of their cities to imperial palaces (i think)

two things - I am playing 6.4 campaign so there is no such need. Second, I already have the republicans for about 30 game years, imperial cohorts now

and to add - whenever I try to recruit troops at Masilia, my game crashes.

no i don't think they do lol

if i get you right your talking about when to swap from the post marian republic legions to the post marian imperial legions

i've not gotten anywhere near as far as that in a campaign, but i think that it is a personal choice, in that when you feel ready to change you can - i imagine that i'll wait until i can build Imperial baracks in every legion city and then start the change

Well since I keep on expanding and I control pretty big areas now and I have just a few republican legions, I thought about disbanding them and creating the imperial ones. Need them to wage war with germans!

wait, can you recruit the imperial legions?

I'ld wait with the Imperial ones until I've owned Rome for atleast 50 years. The game doesn't regulate when you should or should not recruit them, as with the switch from Polybian troops to late republican troops. The oldest find of the armors that they use, the lorica segmentata of imperial troops, dates back to 9BC and increased in use thereafter. So that is about 100 years after the Marian reforms.

About Massilia, that looks weird... maybe just avoid it for a turn and try again?

about Massalia, I had a similar problem in 6.4 but in Tergeste in one campaign and in Appolonia (I think) in another campaign. I realized it had something to do with the general located there ... everytime I was opening the recruitment window of that city I had a CTD (cause when clicking on recruitment window the generals ancillaries or traits showed up). It was very far into the campaigns both times. I managed to get the generals out from the city by not opening the recruitment window. After that everything worked as normal and it did not happen again.

I have just tried. Seems very much that the problem lies either with the general or eventually with some of the units. Thanks much for the tip, I can now recruit legio III

That said, SPQR isn't about historical accuracy.

Well I have already built the imperial barracks in almost every city, and since I have had like 10 years without much battles, I can build up peacefully and really fast. but know, with Gauls being reduced to the buffer zone only, Germans are knocking on me door...

Nope, thats why I regulate it myself. Also, I wan't to use the different troops about as much, so atleast 100 years with Polybian, 100 years of republican and then the imperial ones. Just my style, its ffa

I first got imperials when I upgraded barracks to get the one extra experience for the units and poof, no more republicans to train

100 years with each level of troops? are you playing on 4 tpy? that's 400 turns! the game must be almost over by the time you are ready for marian legions!

rep me if you like my posts, and it's highly likely you'll get some back

Well, I play it slow. And yes, script is on. 173bc so far. I let Carthage keep their last town until I want to get ready for the reforms in another 50-60 years or so.

It is doable to stand for 400 turns at one troop type. But really painish. I got from pre-marian to imperial in about 80 or so years.
