    Icon6 Middle Earth feelings

First of all i didn't know any thing about lotr untill PJ made the film The lord of the rings. I had to go because of a school project. When the film began i thought whats the is this some stupid film about some dump rings. Then the battle at Dargolath began and i saw the elves drawing their sword killing all those orcs WOW my skin began to shiver my tought went crazy at the ending of the first movie what an epic story!!

Then i began to read all of the books saw all the films even played Warhammer to get more feeling of Middle earth i loved it. But i wanted more i wanted to see a game that i could be a part of Middle earth but it never came in that time. Only sucking games like BFME and many more. The feeling began to fade for a long time. I tought i never came back but then May 2009 it happend TATW came out and since then the feeling came back me skin began to shiver my thoughts went crazy again. I can now be a part of Middel Earth. Thats why i want thank you KK and his crew and any one who made this happen.. Thanks!!

Back when Twix was called Raider; when Careless Whisper was whistled in every street and everybody felt Like A Virgin I was just 7 years old. My parents thought that the boy had to experience a little bit of what today is called classic fantasy. Thus they started to read the Silmarillion on tapes and every week the little Aikanár received one tape as a small gift. That was when I first felt that very peculiar feeling. They carryed on doing this with LotR and UT as well. What shall I say, three years later I started reading the books myself and never lost the feeling till today.

I came to know Tolkien's work like larsverw did. First I saw the movies and I really liked it and after the first movie I started reading all of LOTR related books .

Lol ... what a brainless arcade fighting. Holy Jesus, it's even worse than Harry Potter games! If I were a developer of these games I would commit suicide day after release ...

It was January 10th 2003. I had my 10th birthday. My aunt came to visit us, and had a suitable present for me: A copy of the Fellowship of the Ring. I had never heard of Middle Earth before, nor about Tolkien. Neither had she, but her boyfriend suggested it(too bad now he's an ex-). I didn't held the book in a high opinion in the 1st time, but a boring evening I decided to try reading this crappy piece of writing, as I thought then. I spent all night long reading the book till aI fell asleep at around 5 a.m. The next morning, I finally finished the book.

The result was goind to the bookstore at noon and buyng both the TT and RoTK. 2 days ago I loaned The Hobbit too from the local library. But the immension I felt the 1st night wit the FoTR, was something sensational.

Well, first I started to read LOTR when I was about 10 or 11 years old, don’t remember exactly. That was my mom who bought the books and brought them to me.It was the whole Tolkien collection, with Silmarillion and Hobbit. I was familiar with ME before, when I was a child I enjoyed a comics adaptation of Hobbit,I still have it!

Surprisingly I didn’t like Lotr at first and just read it through, searching for interesting parts.I read Silmarillion in the same way. I could not understand why everybody enjoy Tolkien and then I found him boring….then I enjoyed Silma more, though for me it was like pieces of stories. At that time my favorite book was Conan

But after a few years I decided to re-read LOTR properly and started…with the second book .I just liked the beginning with Uruks and such…so the Fellowship was the last book I read

Forever after that I remain Tolkien Purist, and JRR became my favorite author

I actually started reading Tolkien's work this year. I began with the Hobbit in may and finished it on 2 days, ofc i started to read FOTR right after and read it through, now i'm in the middle of TT and i must say the Frodo and Sam part is boring :/

And I should add that i seen every movie atleast 25 times..

Our Elementary school put on "The Hobbit" for a school show back in the mid 80's. Half the school was involved, costumes were made for Orcs, Elves, Dwarves and Hobbits. An elaborate Smaug stage was made with moving head, legs and tail. I was in grade 4 and I though it was the coolest thing I ever saw (except Star Wars).

Our next "topic" for school was reading "The Hobbit". We read the book, we did reports on the chapters, and did art projects on Hobbit related objects. We finished it all off by watching the animated "The Hobbit" movie. It was amazing for us kids in grade 4.

I then read the LOTR books the following summer. Despite it being some pretty advanced reading for an 8 year old, I got through it and re-read it and loved every page. I loved Middle Earth since.

Then the movies came out....... Sure there was some artistic license taken with some of the story, but visually it made me believe Middle Earth was real. So when I go back and re-read the LOTR, with PJs visuals in my head and Howard Shore's movie score in my ears, I feel like I am reading history.......and who knows, maybe I was

First I thought it was a story about people fighting undead and black zombies after the BFME advertisement on the tv,
which gave it bad reputation. Then one of my friends showed me a picture of Witch-King and I just
And then he told me about Sauron, the orcs and the uruk-hai, and I just
So I got the first movie as soon as possible, it took my soul
Then I got the 2 other movies next time in the video shop, and have watched them countless of times.
And now I'm on the reading part and looking for the unfinished tales which is allmost impossible to find
in my stupid communist country, but my friend have it, so maybe I can borrow it from him when he have
    read throught it.

One day my Dad brought home the animated movie from the video shop. Not a great movie (and never finished!) but the whole Tolkien world thing got to me. In particular the idea of different races (esp. Elves) and the Fellowship.

At 17 I finally got my hands on LOTR from the school library and pretty much read that instead of doing really important homework. And have been obsessed with Tolkien's world ever since.

    Good idea for a thread.

was 10, when I saw the Felloship of the ring in cinema. I love it. It was so great adventure story with battles for young guy. Then I went to watch all those movies in cinema. ( and of course I had all those movies in home).. ( And I watched them all the time)

If I remember right, it was 2007 when I started to read those books (lotr), I loved them. And week ago I started to read Return of the king again.

I had watched fist movie 12 times, second 11 times and third 14 times.

I started playing age of empires 2 scenario, it was self-done by some online-friends, and we had an chat-channel where we were around 8guys, it was all about getting spies xD (mordor had it easier), with pretty decent amount of buffed units, hiper-buffed heroes and you could also recruit some normal units (monks for healing and regular archers to hide your pros). buffed buildings of course, following tolkien maps... it was pretty accurate, and we had hella fun there, we had like 4versions of the scenario (i mean, different scenarios, but all had pretty much same heroes, but different ways to see the map distribution , it was funnier than playing lotr RTS game, which i also played of course ^_^, i did the last ones, after i knew the lore etc, b4 i was just helping them with "scripting", and ofc playing ^^)

i played that scenario like pfff, nearly 500times? (1h-2h-3h/time -_-)

then i told my uncle to buy the book as a gift (he bought a rlly cool one, semi-collectionist edition i think, with lots of things about the lore), and then.... films.

And yeah... i also waited a total war-like LOTR game, finally it came here (i didnt like RTW, neither its graphics) ^^
