Won't load battles

I had a problem with Rome for ages where the game was going in super speed all the time and all flickery, I was told it was a dual core problem and I should update my drivers and download this: http://support.microsoft.com/?id=896256

I downloading the fix. Now there's no flickering and super speed on the campaign map but it won't load battles now, the loading bar starts and just keeps going off the screen and it never loads.

Does anyone know a fix? Thanks

What graphic settings are you trying to use - include the resolution. I presume your card is struggling with what you are asking of it.

It must be high, There shouldn't be a problem though really, I can play Medieval 2 fine. It used to work fine but not now, I've tried re-installing it.
