Game freezes during battles

My game of M2TW keeps freezing in the battles. I have tried lowering settings, patched to 1.2, and uninstalling and reinstalling multiple times. I don`t think any unit is causing it, since it has crashed on every battle I`ve played as England so far. According to http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/ the computer passes all the minimum settings and all the recommended ones except for CPU Speed. However, this game worked a couple of years ago fine. Any ideas on what`s wrong?

Your computer is older and so are the parts. It could be your video card is overheating. Have you cleaned the dirt out of your case in the last couple of years? Dirt and heat are your two worst enemies and cause your problem all by themselves.

I sprayed all the dust out of it (looked like it needed it). However when I loaded my campaign, it froze right after the battle started. I looked at the graphic settings and it said they were recommended for my computer.

What other progams do you have installed besides your operating system and this game?

To be honest I think your system is old enough that it maybe underpowered for battles anymore.

Thank you for the quick reply. I have Adobe Reader, Adobe Photoshop Adobe flashplayer, Armageddon Empires, Hearts of Iron 2 Doomsday, Europa Universalis 3, Galactic Civilizations 2, Impulse, iTunes, and other assorted programs (not games). Maybe it is too old to play anymore . Thank you for the help.
