Default Hi, and help please :)

Hi i'm the new guy, so I thought I'd drop a line
I've downloaded all the the beta and all the updates, and they're all in the RTW folder, but it's not loading, so help would be appreciated

As this is the first time I've beta tested anything, any tips and info would be great, and I'm not particularly fussed on what I test, but am particularly partial to Greeks, and Seleucid's in particular

    Sam,
You need to say what's not working and the error message you get - I wonder whether it's something to do with Vista adimistration rights?

You probably didn't install it in the right folder, which breaks bot RTW and RS2. RS2 (all RS mods) must be installed into the same folder that 'romeTW.exe' is in. So find the exe, and install it there.

Also, make sure you have RTW version 1.5 or BI version 1.6. RS will not work if you don't.

The main installer and all of the patches, also, have to be installed as I said....in the same folder as 'RomeTW.exe' is in.

    Oh, and welcome!

    Thanks! Much better!
I suspect it might be the version of RTW you're using. Which one is it?

I've installed it on the original, but I've also got barbarian invasion installed ,which means I've got the updates and therefore a newer version. However I've just reinstalled everything, and it's back to telling me "script error in data/descr_battle_map_lighting_and_fog_control_txt, at line 7, column 1.
    expecting reading 'min_light_intensity'."

I'm sure that error is familiar - what shortcut or .exe program are you trying to start it with?

Where exactly did you say that you pointed the installer to and all the subsequent updates?

although the revision 4 didn't give me a choice and down loaded into the "downloads" folder, however i cut and pasted it into the RTW folder and extracted the files there

If you use the search function on that error message, it always turns out that people have installed it wrongly,
    e.g. http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...14#post3722814

Check particularly inside your /data folder to see whether there is another /data folder inside it. There shouldn't be.

Do you have an RS2 BI shortcut on your desktop as well? maybe try running with that instead? I always play RS using the BI.exe as you get better AI behaviour especially naval invasions and also get the advantage of things like shield wall and so on that are used by the some units.
