Diagoras ('the first atheist') writing 500 bc said and I quote "...there is no God at all".
That settles it.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
When some guy says something it's easy to just ignore him. But if some guy two and half thousand years ago says something, that's a different matter entirely.
It may not be proof but it certainly strengthens your faith. It's a well know fact that nothing can possibly be true unless it has ancient roots.
greeks pleasured themselves with children and they were the first atheists
coincidence????
Incidentally I remember seeing an Assyrian tablet from around 2800 BC, on which the writer complained about the "youth of today". They had no respect for authority, disrespected the Gods, spoke back at their parents etc. It's on the internet somewhere, I'll see if I can dig it up again if you're interested.
EDIT. Found a similar one, it reads:
"The Earth is degenerating today.
Bribery and corruption abound.
Children no longer obey their parents,
every man wants to write a book, and
it is evident that the end of the world is fast approaching"

Under the stern but loving patronage of Nihil.
Yeah have a similar one in our classroom.
Its like:
children today have no respect for authority
They insisit on talking in places of learning
Show disprespect for their teachers and parents
Titicus 500BC
or somthing like that =P
Actually the majority of Greeks were not atheists, and they still liked young boys. But their reasons were completely nonreligious. It was just a common acceptation of the perfect machine that is the human body. What would you rather try to wrestle, a young greek lad, or a matured warrior?

I think OPs point was that theists relying on a text simply because it's ancient is as silly as him relying on an atheist simply because he's ancient.
In any case, this thread was thoroughly disappointing.
This should be a joke. If it is not, then it's sad.
I was actually quite hopeful when opening this topic. I was really curious if someone actually had found good enough evidence. I was just as disappointed as when opening the topics which claim to have proof of god's existence. Just because theists commit logical fallacies does not mean it's alright for you to commit them as well, because, just as I am not convinced by their fallacious arguments, so am I not convinced by atheists' fallacious arguments.
i say there's no proof either way. Theists predates that atheist, they just didn't write anything.
I have no belief that any God would contact us.
