    Default Classical Era Armory

    Hey guys! I decided it would be a cool idea to open a forum that lists classical era armor and weaponry. If you are going to post some kind of armor or weapon please do so in this format:

    Name of armor/weapon/item:
    Uses:
    Consists of(alloys or components):
    Used by which nation or peoples:
    The year it was issued:
    Picture(if you have one):

    Also if you got it from an online source, please post it as well so others can validate that it is indeed a piece of equipment used in the Classical Era. Let's have fun with this!

    Mozart, the Led Zeppelin of classical music; or is it Led Zeppelin, the Mozart of classic rock?

    Since noone is posting anything, I'll start with a familiar piece of equipment:

    Montefortino Helmet

    Used to protect the head

    Consisted of bronze and leathers
    4th Century BC - 40 AD

    Used by the Romans

    Romans copied this style of helmet from the Gauls and Celt-Iberians. The legions of Julius Caesar's time would have worn helmets like this. There is an attachment at the top for a horsehair or feather plume. It is named for the find site, the Necropolis at Montefortino, in northern Italy.
