CTD problem.
Earlier on i decided to use the unpacker to unpack my files and have a look at em, Anywho after finding out that it was gonna take for ever i crossed it off and now i get a CTD whenever i enter a battle.
Any ideas on how to get rid of the CTD problem.

I'm almost positive that your problem is extra descr_geography files somewhere. Depending on where you unpacked the files to you have extra files that are interfering with a normal battle load. If you unpacked into the tools folder then just delete the extra files and it should resolve itself. Don't delete files in the pack or data folder IIRC. If this doesn't work then it's probably something else.Originally Posted by Sknit

I had a look through the files and couldnt locate what you were talking about and i wasn't given an option to choose where to unpack so i dont know where they could be.
So i decided to go for a clean install.
Plus rep anyway.

Clean install = drastic but effective. I remember I had this problem and it was some random files in the tools folder that was hanging me up. My memory might not be entirely accurate as to the names of the files. I remember just deleting all the extra files unpacked to the tools folder and that did the trick.

I would of done the same but there werent any extra files in the tools folder.

After doing the fresh install and downloading stainless steel and so on again. Stainless Steel no longer loads up any ideas what it could be.

Sorry mate but I'd check the SS section for that one. The only thing I can think of is maybe something got left behind when you uninstalled....

Ok, first thing with all CTDs, did you install the latest drivers?
Sorry had to ask that, but I'm sure you have.
I think if you still want to unpack the game again make sure you delete these two files.
I got that from the installation thing from that Mod, but it goes the same with you.Next make sure you have any previous versions of Kingdoms Grand Campaign Mod uninstalled. Also do not forget to delete the two geography files (descr_geography_new.db and descr_geography_new.txt) in the unpacked data folder.
Otherwise I wouldn't know it either. Hope that'll help.

What so do i have to unpack the game to locate and delete those two files.
Because the game loads up i just get a CTD before the battle starts.

Just reinstall it, and don't unpack it unless you really need to. Another option would be to get a mod that doesn't require unpacking.
And doesn't ETW have more CTDs?

I have re installed it and after re installing it i didnt do anything. Apart from 1.2 patch, and went to fight a battle and WHAM CTD.
Ermm Empire is alot more stable now but i never got any CTD's in the first place so i cant really answer that.

If you cannot find descr_geography_new or whatever the file name is, look in your Appdata folder (if you are using Vista.
