    Default Dale

Is even worth my time playing as these guy? They aren't good in one specific area, just decent in all of them and it doesn't seem that appealing..

dale is reworked totally in the next version 2.0,Giving him the aspect of agreement with his culture and as really they are.

They are a totally misunderstood faction, poor guys
As you say, they are mediocre, but strong enough to give Rhun a run for their money.
The main problem is how they can compete against factions with cool units such as big trolls, pointed eared elves or feisty dwarfs.
The other human factions, Gondor and Rohan have the celebrity factor from the films, cause they are Hollywood divas

So don't underestimate Dale, just for the sake of a good challenge is worthy to give them a go, and see where can you take the underdog

I find Dale enjoyable, they have good archers and cavalry and that's enough for me.

    No
I'm glad Dale is being totally reworked because frankly they suck right now. Only a third of their units get a shield (not even the spearmen, making them utterly ing USELESS against cavalry!) and the generals are an archer unit, meaning one cavalry charge can completely take them out. Also they look shoddy in general, like they were quickly hashed together. They don't have the detail of Rhun's units nor the awesomeness of the Dwarven units, making them like a filler faction

what will the underlying theme of the reworked Dale faction be? I can see a possible viking link- Northmen merchants who live apart from other men and near lakes (fjords?) and dwarves, or even a link to Venice (Lake town)
while I'm willing to wait for the final version to see what the new faction units will look like, the inspirations are of some interest to me...

For any who are interested by my FF on occurrences in Rhun and beyond; I have begun a new project (not because the old one is finished, just opening more room for ideas) about one of the minor characters, Rankal. It is in the Third Age AAR index and here is the link http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=376994

Dale is perfectly playable, it's just that it's not as visually appealing as some of the other factions.

Just like Eriador, Dale is being reworked but there is no release date on it yet.

I kinda wanted to close this but I don't know, you people wanna discuss Dale? I don't mind Dale being discussed but if this turns into another "Dale doesn't look as good" whine thread I'll put an end to it.

I like Dale, and enjoyed my campaign I had with them. It offers a good challenge because they are sorrounded by stronger factions and dont have great late units like most of the other factions.

`yeah sure there not as pretty but i think it was kinda cool what they tried to do with them i mean they gave them there own feel sure some may not like the fact the general is an archer unit but that and all the other differences is what makes them different so you can play this campaign and not feel like you already played it before

It is a challenging campaign and one that may not apeal to some who may have gotten use to medieval style similar factions where they all have very similar units here they have gone for flavour and i salute them for it i am sure KK will do a great job with the rework of there visuals shame you werent adding your touch master DG i am sure with your flair you could have turned them around and made them one of the most popular factions as you did for say RHUN who many mostly movie fans didnt really know who they were but they have found universal apeal amoung the fans

Dale has been redesigned from the ground up by Mith & Hross. The units will be modelled and textured by KK. In terms of the new direction the faction will be a mix of medieval nordic and germanic cultures. Its a rather confusing menagerie but it looks like it will pull together nicely once KK gets working on it.

Playing as Dale is fun but way to easy considering they start with more or less the strongest first archer in the game after the elfs which only beats them with 1 damage. the Free archers. i just massed free archers and ran over rhun wasn't even a question.

Then i moded the free archer gave them 5 damage instead of 7 and gave them late game units The nobles Swordmen Dale cavalry and bardian archers monsterus. but boosting the cost up. after that it was realy enjoable. Got a campaign where i play vs The Lokes. (which i also remade) and thoose are the best battles i ever had. with tier 1/2 units making 80% of the army while 20% is the best of the best with Nobles and dale cavalry.

Dale is atleast better then eriador. They are challenging to play on account of there unit strengths but give them a try for fox sakes.

Have you tried RC/RR? The unit balancing is pretty good, including taking care of Dale's free archers and the like.

Well, I have just started a campaign with Dale (around turn 18) and it IS fun. Although I dislike slaying men with men in TATW (kill all orcs. Or elves. But NOT THE DWARVES!), it's all fun crushing Rhun (ok, they have three full stack armies at the moment, while I have only one, with half stack of militia), and later on, I'm planning to attack Mordor from the East (hehe, Tolkien would not be so happy to hear that).
It's ok they do not look that good, but who cares? They are effective, the economy is good now (at least comparing to Silvan Elves), and my military contains archers, infantry and cavalry, too. Do you need anything else?

So far my favourite campaign was with Dale.

Can we get a small preview or pics of Dale units that are complete or maybe half way done? Will they still be blue or will they have a different colour?

KK is working on Dale, it's probably a long way from completion. I doubt KK is going to even see your post, much less treat us to a preview. Not yet anyway.
