Default Which submods to install? and other things

ok so i just heard about third age, read a bunch of faqs and all the stuff about the mod and watched some gameplay videos/trailers thought it looked awesome and figured id try it out.

now i havent been playing M2TW for very long and i only recently got kingdoms, i never even heard of this game till a couple years ago (i know).

but anyways, when i install third age i was wondering what othe sub-mods would be worth having as well. like one of the major things i noticed in videos of third age was that all the scenery (buildings and stuff) dont really fit in with the middle earth theme. also, all of the unit voices are a bit out of place, like in some videos the orks were using the HRE voices.. or thats what it sounded like.

so is there some sub-mods out there that fix those issues or did stuff like that come in patches for third age or whatever?

i know all this might seem obvious to people who have been following this mod since it first started development, but honestly for a complete newcomer all of these discussion threads and endless talk on different submods and whatnot is actually quite confusing. its not actually that easy to figure out whats compatible with what and what you really need, and also most of the abbreviations that you are probably used to mean nothing to me. anyways i tried reading the faqs i could find (searching only threw up random threads with really intricate discussion which was like chinese to me) but the faqs are kinda brief and seem like they havent been updated.

tl;dr im about to download and install third age because it looks great. what submods/patches do i need for stuff like improved unit voices/responses and lore-specific terrain/cities/locations?

    thanks for the help!

    Welcome to TATW!

There are a great number of submods to choose from, the ones you should get are the ones that are going to adapt themselves to your style of playing.
If you have already played a bit with TATW, that would be easier, so you already know what you like and want.
Have you got v1.1? Make sure the submods are compatible with whichever version you have installed.

    Go to:

    or more directly,

You should have there everything to suit your needs and game style
The Visual Enhancement submod is great! I recommended to you, just check with compatibility with other submods. That's probably the only one i would install with v1.1, no real need for any more.
    Good games to you!

Most voices are corrected in the 1.1 patch, so just install the patch.

Buildings that fit middle-earth will probably not be part of a sub mod. There is a possibility of some cities or buildings being made by the team for further releases, but I wouldn't hold my breath, probably while you are playing it won't bother you too much.

That Visual Enhancement sub mod is really nice indeed

i made the faction intros and the trailer with the beta 0.6.
and that's why some sounds could be not correct. but like
Louis Lux said - this has change with the 1.0 and 1.1 releases
already - 1.1 upadte had a whola voice correction for other
    language versions than english too.

for sub-mods: like i always say TATW does not need any
sub mods at all. i played th TATW vanilla and i'm totally
okay with it. there is nothing to complain about i think.

okay, some visiual mods (like Visual Enhancement)
are totally okay but gameplay and strat change mods are
not necessary. the TATW dev's are working hard on corrections
and unbalaced strats, whcih will be fixed with the 1.2 in a couple
of weeks. this release will contain some other stuff and i'm not
pretty sure about that, but there will be some sub-mods (at least
parly) included. (not sure about 1.2 here)

    oh ok thanks guys.

i wasnt really looking for stuff that affects gameplay. i was just wondering about the aesthetic stuff because from some of the videos i watched and threads i read it seemed there was still stuff people were wanting changed/working on or like earlier versions and whatnot.

i guess ill have a look around at some bits and pieces first, and try playing third age as is (havent played it yet). ive come to these boards before for campaign tips, strategies, advice and stuff like that but i never bothered registering. this mod made me register though. anyways thanks for the info.
