how to rid game of culture
I was thinking to myself how the game would be different if there wasn't any culture requirements tying down your recruitment... How TATW handles culture recruitment reminds me of are of recruitment, only its limiting rather than giving you more options. I'm going to try a campaign with more money for everyone and no culture limits to see how it alters the battles. love the mod so far guys. you can see that units require culture to recruit in their export_descr_unit file. Some require 40%, some 5%....etc. It's far too painful to replace every units requirement to zero in the units file, and far too likely to encounter glitches. It's easier to make buildings that give you culture (IE TEMPLES) give a much bigger bonus. So the trick is to change your temples from giving say.....5% to giving 100%
SO THE EASIEST WAY TO GET RID OF CULTURE UNIT RECRUITMENT AS FAR AS I CAN TELL IS....
1)open export_descr_buildings
2) use the replace function to replace lines "religion_level bonus x" (the xis how much of a bonus the temple gives, most are very low) to "religion_level bonus 100"
3) just keep changing the replaced number from 1 to 10 as I don't think any temples give more than 10
once all temples give 100% culture you will fully have circumvented the recruitment requirement.
Its cheap and dirty but I'm sure it will let you and your enemy get better units to the front lines quicker, rather than dragging your trolls 50 turns from the gates of mordor to bilbo's doorsteps.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bilbo has entered the Lonely Mountain, which once housed a kingdom of dwarves, but which is now Smaug's lair - Smaug is sleeping on a hill of gems and other riches, but wakes up when Bilbo reaches the heart of the mountain]
Smaug: Well, thief? I smell you, I feel your air - and I hear your breath. Come along! Help yourself; there's plenty, AND to spare.
Bilbo Baggins: [who is invisible] Oh... thank you, Smaug the Magnificent! I did not come for wealth. I wish only to have a look at you, and see if you are truly as great as tales say; I did not believe them!
Smaug: [flattered] ... Do you now?
Bilbo Baggins: They fall utterly short of reality, King SMAUG Under the Mountain!
Smaug: Hmmm... You have nice manners for a thief - and a LIAR.

I think that the culture requirement is a good way to even things out.
