Anyway, in order for it to work, I required the recent patch, 1.02, or 1.2.
I downloaded and installed it without a problem, and the Cinematic editor thingy worked fine.
I hadn't played MTWII since then, until just quite recently, and I got an error message.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Too many connections in /export/home2/aparker/htdocs/M2TWLauncher/cgi-bin/Scripts/Tier1/MySQLDriver.php on line 1209
Here's a screenshot:
I wondered if it was just the launcher, so I went into my C drive, opened up Sega and so on.
I then opened up the direct MTWII file there. It opened fine, no music, no background animation at the start menu, and the game itself didn't work. So I'm stuck.
I really wanted to finish off the French in my Short English campaign, but it just won't work.
OS: Windows XP SP. 2
Im using Gamers Choice DVD.
EDIT: I should also say, I'm not using Kingdoms, I'm using Vanilla, which I still don't understand why it's called that...

Right click on the Medieval II icon, click on properties. Go down to the line Target and replace the word launcher.exe with medieval2.exe and save it. The launcher will be bypassed. The error is servor software and not your game and you don't need the launcher to enjoy the game.
