Best Mod for Me

hey everyone, I'm new to RTW, and after I finish the orginal game, I was looking to try some mods.

Since I'm a history guy, so I want to play a realism mod, but I noticed that there were several, like Rome Total Realism or Europa Barbarorum, and others. Which one, in your opinion is the best?

Also, I noticed that there are many mods, but most of them still take place in the ancient meditteranean. Are there any good mods that completely change the time or place of the game, like say, setting it in the middle ages, or ancient china, or even some fantasy environment?

Sorry if there have been many threads done about mods before, but as I said, I'm new to this game.

the best historical mod is europa barbarorum, but it is huuuge and changes everything so if you dont like that, then total realism maybe be for you

Thanks for the list!

I thought that Europa Barbarorum looked godd, but I was jsut worried that the game was too huge.

Also, I have heard of an Extended Cultures mod. Is that a realism mod, or does it just make the orginal game bigger?

Also, what about Diadochi Total War? Does this just change the Greek factions, or is it a total conversion.

Finally, could anyone point me to a mod that unlocks the factions without having to beat them all?

extended cultures and diadochi total war are based on extended greek mod.. it retains the vanilla feel, while changing some things

all mods unlock all factions

I'd recommend Extended Cultures...it's a good intermediate between vanilla and something like EB or RTR that do a lot to change the game. Extended Cultures also tries to be pretty historically accurate, at least more than vanilla (which isn't very hard)
