Re: Quick question
Hopefully 1.03 is the same as 1.3... I can't get any of the mods to work so I don't know whether it's a patch problem.

Re: Quick question
1.03 is 1.3. For some reason, the dumb developers write it like that, 1.01 is 1.1, 1.02 is 1.2 and so on and so on.

Re: Quick question
1.03 is 1.3. It's inhouse test code and release code. CA's programmers are very proficient interchanging them in the same sentence.
Did you make sure the game worked before installing the mods? Ther are too many things that can go wrong and too often do.

Re: Quick question
Ok, I will try and narrow this down as much as I can, since you're willing to help me with the mod problem. Yes, my M2TW did work before the mod. This is what I do when I install the mods. I have the steam purchased M2TW, FYI. I download the mod, let it install the mod into the M2TW directory. At this point I'm unsure of what to do. I leave the mod folder inside the M2TW directory and run the mod.bat. Usually, when I do this, it just brings me to a normal M2TW. So, I've tried replacing the contents in the mod folder like Data, etc, with the original M2TW contents. This usually doesn't work at all and forces me to re-install the game. I've had ONE mod actually work and it was the Long Road mod, I believe. Hopefully you guys can help me with this because I really want to play a mod

Re: Quick question
Mods and vanilla are like water and oil for an analogy.
Because of the way the files and folders are interconnected you can't just pick and choose. You have to be selective in your reclacing, combining, and just adding files to the mess.
If you want to add a region to your mod, you will mod descr_strat.txt, descr_regions.txt, imperial_campaign_regions_and_settlements.txt, descr_mercenaries.txt, map_regions.tga and probably a couple I missed.
If you want to make a unit recruitable to your faction, you have to mod the export_descr_units.txt, export_buildings.txt, and mak sure it is listed in the export_units.txt and for it to show up in nattle properly, it has to be listed in the battle_models.modeldb.
Each time you make a change like that, delete the map.rwm and star a new campaign or you'll find yourself with ctds, sent back to the selection menu and outright freezes. Also the system.log.txt is your friend. Use the errors in there to your adventage. You also need to get into the Mod Workshop with this. They have a whole host of tutorials, tools, and lot better modders than me.

Re: Quick question
Wait... Are we on the same page here? I want to download a mod on this site to use, not create one. Sounds like you're trying to explain how to mod.

Re: Quick question
Do I need a custom registry merged somewhere to be able to launch stainless steel? I copied one, but it might be for kingdoms or something because when I get to the launcher and click on play, it gives the options for M2TW and SS and when I click on SS it gets an error and I have to quit it.
