space shuttles, hybrid cars, microwaves, jeans that arent tight as and stiff, hovercraft propulsion, so many more i have in mind atm too many to add right now

Space shuttles? What about space TRAVEL? Humans only first went up into space in 1961. Even then, I would still consider space shuttles to be more of a devancement because unlike their predecessor, the Saturn V rocket, shuttles cannot take us outside of Earth orbit...but I digress.
Anyway, some advancements I can think of off the top of my head have been made in batteries (smaller, lighter, more power), electronics, materials (carbon fiber), sound recording technology.

But then I'd go for more efficient energy supply systems (wind or solar energy) or loads and loads of warfare technology improvements like highly advanced submarines or unmanned vehicles.

The Internet would be communications and information technology combined as one.
Even space travel needed computer and communication technology so I'm not sure if it counts or not.

Steel head clubs were invented long before.
Personal home use refrigerators have been around since early last century. Commercial and other refrigerators have been around even longer.
Finally, 95% of the 50's was over 50 years ago.

Plus all of our scienctific stuff such as Genetic Modification and stem cells.
A new mobile phone tower went up in a town in the USA, and the local newspaper asked a number of people what they thought of it. Some said they noticed their cellphone reception was better. Some said they noticed the tower was affecting their health.
A local administrator was asked to comment. He nodded sagely, and said simply: "Wow. And think about how much more pronounced these effects will be once the tower is actually operational."
