It is necessary, that you install to the detected folder. Otherwise, it won't work.

Hmm Could I move all the items in the folder to the sega folder?

And if not then how do I prevent ctds by installing it outside the sega folder?

You can't install it outside, and you actually don't need to!

All you need is a clean installation of M2TW + original game patch 1.3. Before confirming installation make sure to select your game version english if you have the UK or US copy, non-english else.

Most importantly don't change the installation target. If you have unpacked your game, you'll need to reinstall to avoid conflicts.

Is this just an issue with the installer then, that it likes to detect one place rather than let you select a path? I've seen that with a few installer types, been using NSIS since it doesn't seem to have that problem.

Or does it have something to do with the batch files and shortcuts? I'm just curious because I've never come across a need to install a mod to any specific directory, and have about 5 or 6 different installations of basic M2 on my system(the default one is liable to be the one I don't install mods to so I can easily copy it for other needs). In fact the EB team has even experimented with mod installs outside the M2 file structure entirely using UNIX paths, I don't recall the exact specifications though.

No, the installer works fine (based on NSIS too), but as far as I understood, he manually changed the path, which he should not do, if M2TW folder is detected automatically.

Ah okay, gotcha. I thought you were saying that if I knew what I was doing and moved all the files to a proper location in a different M2 folder they wouldn't work because of a specific need for the default detected directory. Never mind me then.

Ohkay Grandwiz! Ill try that but before when I did have it in the Sega folder the game kept crashing after starting the grand campaign. What can I do? I have installed it properly now.
