    Default New World

Hello there, I started playing EUIII not long ago, so I'm quite a noob at it. So, my question is:

On which year will I recieve the "New World" idea (or whatever it is called) and discover new lands? Can I speed it up?

You can take the idea "quest for the new world" as your national idea when you reach trading tech 7. Then you can buy conquistatoders and explorers.

If you only have Eu3 then you can take Quest For The New World as your first national idea. If you have EU3 complete or the In Nomine expansion then you need to have trade tech of 7 as well.

Having QFTNW allows you to recruit conquistadors and explorers (in the same section of the menu you use to recruit generals) which you can then use to explore Terra Incognito. Alternatively, you can wait for someone else discovers them and 50 years after they've been discovered you get the 'Spread of Discoveries' event which lets you see provinces they've discoverd.

Tip: If you have In Nomine, don't have too many colonies at once - it'll bankrupt you.

20 ducats a year at max upkeep is pretty costly...

    Hey I have a question.

In IN, are the resources for colonies completely randomly generated?

They're randomly chosen from a list of possible goods. Each region has a list of goods that provinces within it can produce. They're also effected in some cases by what neighbouring provinces produce and in the case of slaves they can only be produced if you have the correct slider settings.

The trick with the New World (especially North America), is to quickly colonise the coastal provinces, and pump all of you colonists into those so that they become cities (and then cores). This prevents other countries from colonising the continent, at least, not as fast. Plus you've got those weak Native America tribes who should be easy picking, and effectively double or triple your New World land.

That's a good idea, didn't think of that.

For example: My first move was to take out the Creek/Shawnee/Cherokee. I needed to do that because the Portuguese had gotten a head start, and taken out the Mayans/Aztez/Whatzerfaces. Then I colonised Newfoundland, because it was the first place within range. Once I got a core in west Africa, I was able to colonise Venezuela, and area. I have now taken the entire coast of Venezuela, down to Peru, and almost up the other side to Argentina. Except Portugal has already gotten their Brazilian colonies...
