Default Dunland: The Pros and Cons

I would like to know why the team didnt put it in, i think it would be good competition for the era and could even recieve the Lithuania ability to switch because there not really "evil" just very upset refugees. Please discuss your pros and cons on the issue.

I don't think it would increase competition. Whilst lore wise it would be beneficial, I don't think it would add to gameplay in any way. The faction would not be viable, as it would be jammed between Rohan and Isengard. Would weaken Rohan, would be eliminated early (Dunland that is), and would not add to gameplay. Just my $0.02.

I think adding Dunland as independent faction could ne very nice to play with. I remember in LOTR:TW Dunland was independent and it was very fun rushing into Rohan from the west .

We are putting it into our mod, remember? And in our mod you can choose to become good or evil.

I know, and this is one of my ways supporing our mod's ideas .
Anyway if there will be a Dunland faction it will slow down Isengard's rushes into poor Eriador, and it will make a more balanced campaign because Dunland's men are less powerful the Isengard's uruks.

Dunland didn't play any independent part in the War of the Ring, Saruman had it totally under his contro. Its best shown as just having Dunlending troops available for Isengard.

Dunland would fill that vacuum between Isengard and Eriador, as well as being more of a threat to Eriador
The Duke of Dunwich and surrounding fiefdom

For any who are interested by my FF on occurrences in Rhun and beyond; I have begun a new project (not because the old one is finished, just opening more room for ideas) about one of the minor characters, Rankal. It is in the Third Age AAR index and here is the link http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=376994

I'd add Dunland. Evil Forces need more power in the North.Whereas Dunland is not really North, but it can help OOTMM and Isengard, cause it's not easy for both of them to expand into the west, where Eriador and High Elves are united. You shouldn't forget about Dwarves either...

I liked Dunland in LOTRTW(sorry for comparison )

I think its a great idea to make Dunland into a changeable faction but remember then dunland has to start as Good and turning evil as we go.

This would Mean DUNLAND has to start as one of the good guys and later turn into Followers of melkor.

hey, you forgott your octopus in your keyboard
no i think it's a really nice idea, but such little faction would be killed very fast when controlled by AI and wouldn't change very much in gameplay....

small factions are the funniest ones to play the smaller the better.

Well it could act as to counter the expanding AI. In DAC there's the faction of the Men of Minhiriath and although it's disputable whether it deserves to be a faction it does check the High Elven faction of Lindon who'd otherwise expand southwards and eastwards like the High Elves do now in TATW 1.1...

I'm against it because they would be weak and Isengard would then be to weak too so Rohan can destroy them quite easily

Isengard should be made stronger, and Rohan weaker...

As if Isengard were preparing for war, and not Rohan...

add one or two extra towns add dunland as a faction starting with one and one that they can easily expand to and voila u got ureself a faction. just make the units in the dunland likable and it wont be a problem.

We from the unfinished tales are thinking of the idea to give isengard from the beginning some very low dunlendings. But when they conquer more and more dunlending cities they will get more dunlendings, which makes Isengard stronger. So the dunlending have roughly 3 ways to progress in the game concerning bad or good.
    -They become good
-They become bad and will cooperate with isengard
-they become bad, because the dunlending faction gets taken over by isengard and isengard will have the dunlendings under his command. This has happened in the books in my opinion.
Note that this is just an idea and we haven't decided yet.

    What do you think guys??
