As many of you may know, the old RTW 'Wonders' as they were have been removed and replaced with a set of buildings where you either 'maintain' them after capturing (or if you own them), or in the case where they were destroyed, you can rebuild them.

Recently, I was reading something Squid wrote about wonders somewhere else, and got an idea to make use of the old wonders in a different way. Here's what I'm thinking:

1. Major Religious Center Captured - in this case, capturing certain very important cities on the map with a long historical religious significance to a given culture would pop up the message, as a Wonder would've in the past, and relate that you have captured a very important religious center. The people are wealthy, the Temples resplendent and loaded with gold...but basically, you biggest advantage here is 'possessing' this city and encouraging it's continued significance. The bonus for this is a reduction in the cost of all you OWN temples and shrines. Right now, I would just point this one to the old 'Artemis' Temple movie, as it seems appropriate for the theme. Cities I have in mind off the top of my head would be Athens, Pergamon, the Gallic city where the 'Druidic Counsil' building is, the region where Stonehenge is, and other ideas welcome.

2. Major City Conquered - this one involves the capture of a major city, either free people or 'factional' that has such a significance that it 'cripples' your foes. I'm thinking mainly of non-coastal factional capitals mostly, where capturing that city will remove a great chunk of that nation's income and hurt them bad. Also, that it will make them especially eager to retake it..so beware. Cities like the Dacian capital, the Arverni, Parthia, or whatever....would come to play here. Building completion time gets a bonus because of the influx of new trade and money to fund them.

3. Major Port City Conquered - an even 'richer' and more important coastal city that, by nature of it's sea trade, will not only cripple the faction that once owned it, but will also benefit your own navies and sea trade thru a bonus of less danger of sinking and greater distances of travel thru safer waters. Obviouly, port cities like Syracuse, Rome, Alexandria, Carthage, etc.

That's as far as I've gotten so far...but if any can think of a another way to use one of these wonders in a like vain, post it here.

I'm thinking I will put back the Great Pyramids, since the bonus for them isn't outrageous, and may use the 'camel and elephant' resources to at least put the little buildings on the strat for a couple of the Wonders that still existed at this time.
