Default Onager accuracy-Who likes it and who doesn't?

Ok, I have noticed (In V2, and I assume in V3 Beta as well) that onagers are really accurate. I actually like that, because it makes sieges more fast-paced and provides further incentive for players to keep elite troops off the walls, in favour of expendable archers and slingers, etc.
However, I am ready to be convinced that their accuracy should be reduced. So, who is for high accuracy and who isn't?

I like their accuracy because of the same reasons you do.

I also agree, so throw another one

my only issue is the damage it causes to troops-I fin it excessive in relation to the size of the projectile. but that is only an opinion.

That is a valid point, it's like the rocks have shells or bombs or something in them! Flaming Projectiles + Legio anything = DEATH in copious amounts

Roman siege engines, apart from bolt shooters, appear to have been deployed much closer to the defences they were assaulting then most people had initially thought. Experiments have shown that for the projectiles to have maximum effectiveness they needed to hit a cities defensive walls at an angle as close to 90 degrees as possible. This would make the impact much stronger and lessen the effect of glancing blows if the angle was deeper or shallower.

I like it; on the rare occasions I find myself using onagers, I don't feel that they should be missing. Since they're basically the only true counter to the shining warriors of Persia, their effectiveness should remain unchanged.

Both the Roman’s and Sasanids placed artillery such as ‘Scorpions’ and ‘Wild Asses’ on city and town defence to act as counter-battery fire, as well as the normal anti-personnel role. Ammianus claimed that just the sound of them firing ‘instilled terror into the hearts of men’, and at one siege they did not even have to load them with bolts, just cranked them up and fired them unloaded, it had the same effect as if they had been loaded and fired, men ran for cover!

Haha, that's interesting! Of course, I can easily see why they'd be so damned scary.

I am reminded of the siege of Minas Tirith in LoTR, and... yeah, scary stuff for your average soldier.

Wouldn't it be great if we had a Late-Roman-period movie as big as those of LoTR?

well, we can make it ourselves: som fraps, good cinematography, and some clever thinking, and maybe we can do it.

say, anyone wanna help me recreate yarmouk?

A much better recreation would be the seige of Amida. There you had the Romans besieged by the Sasanid army that included Sharpur II. Two legiones attempted a night attack on the Sasanids with the intent of killing or capturing Sharpur, but were forced back into the city with the loss of 400 men.

What are we talking about here? You mean an online battle or something like making a movie?

You are all forgetting 'The Last Legion' and 'King Arthur' - oh, wait, I remember why now . . .

Yarmouk? Sounds good! (Must remember to use the cavalry properly.)
