    Default Beeing a bit lost...

I must admit I'm a bit lost with all those different versions and campgaings an' stuff.

If I want to have a gaming experience as close as possible to the vanilla BI - but without the suck - with most factions equaly playable, which version should I get?

My interest for this period got recently aroused (I not sure thats the right word...) by the excellent AAR "Severus the God". If you havent read it already I recomand it wholeheartedly

"Without the suck". That was funny. I'd suggest you to start with the Momma (Invasio Barbarorum Ruina Romae), so you can get familiar with the mechanics and dynamic of these mods. IBIJ and IBFD are based on IBRR, but having developed their own philosophy, they have changed the original IB and made it much more 'complicated' to fully understand them if you don't know how the Momma works.

If you want to rule the whole roman emipire go for Imperium Julianorum, also it contains extra units that other mods don't have!

p.s. do other mods have unique units (only in that mod and not the others) or is that just for IJ?

Rio's does; just installed it again last night. Quite enjoyable and difficult.

    Game of the Fates
Mod of the week on hold -- I've played nearly every RTW mod out there.

Nothing really in the way of unique units, besides some reskins (Pedites Romanii are beautiful, for instance) but it covers quite a large period and one of great interest to me. I love Aetius and Ricimer...

Yes I know this is an old topic but I'm slightly confused with all these campaigns. I brought up Ruina Romae but on the page it says download IBFD?

Is this IBFD the same as Rio's, forgive my lack of intelligence here but its a little confusing figuring out all these different and interesting mods.

    Hi kasrkin
Yes it can be a bit confusion. We decided to change the name of the mods to better reflect the era that they are portrayed in, thus the confusion. I believe the Ruina Romae download 7.0 -7.3 is still called IBFD 7.0 -7.3...certainly can make one confused lol. I although still keep the Rio name in front of my mod.

Thanks for the quick response Rio, having enjoyed your mod in the past I'm just downloading it now I've kinda figured it out though does it go something like this?

IBFD (Otherwise known as Ruina Romae) 7.00-7.03 as the original and then Rio's IBFD and IJV as offshoots with new campaigns/scenarios

Thanks again for clearing it up +rep to you

Your welcome kasrkin and love to hear from those who played the mod some time ago and have followed it from time to time. Much has been done with it and hopefully I like to to think some innovative new ideas and additions will be available soon.

Yes the IJ and the Rio Mod are off shoots sort of speak to the original IBRR but I must add that my mod is more of a hybrid. It uses Ice Torques huge and beautiful BI War Map and certain files from his War Map Mod that I have altered. Also I have added different buildings, units, an economic and military system with a philosophy that somewhat differs.

Any questions with the download let me know.. gl

Just to add to Rio's comments, IJV3.0 is also different from IBRR. Firstly, the timeframe sets it in the mid 4th Century with 3 campaigns; 355AD, 361AD (this campaigns allows you to control the whole roman empire) and 365AD and involve characters such as Julian, Constantius II, Valentinian, Valens and Procopius. This mod also allows multiple religious buildings and includes 9 different religions. Another feature of this mod is the expanded traits such as ethnic traits which adds extra depth to the mod with its characters. There is also additional movement penalties for summer and winter conditions as well as moving in friendly or enemy lands. This mod is a challenging affair and not for the faint hearted.

Thanks for the help from the pair of you, I'm particularly interested in IVJ, so would I be correct In believing that the movement is Eb Esque with different seasons meaning different movement rates?
