Do Watchtowers use permanent upkeep?
PRECEPT: Firstly, I would have posted this in the 'Medieval II: Total War General Discussion' section but for some weird reason anytime I try to go to that section, TWC suddenly says I am no longer logged in, and still says I am no longer logged in no matter how many times I login. Every other forum works fine for me. I would appreciate it if a moderator could move this thread into that forum for me since I can't post there at all for the time being.

Anyway, My question is whether watchtowers permanently add to your upkeep, after the one-time initial build cost.
I did a quick test as Russia & built a ton of watchtowers, disbanded my army. I totalled up my generals bodygaurd expenses and it lined up with my army upkeep in the financial screen, so I suspect they arent a permanent cost. However, the cost could be hiding in the 'wages' section, and AFAIK there is no way to find out how much everybody is supposed to get paid. It'd be cool if someone knew for sure.
Watchtowers are awesome especially with bigmap mods, so you can see anybody getting near your lands and keep your lands free of marauding rebels. Over time keeping your lands clear of rebels will actually recoop the cost of the watchtowers too, since they cause devastation. But only if it is a one-time cost.
