Default Gaelic mormaers - supermen or good fighters?

Hi, I think for future release you should lower the stats of gaelic mormaers a bit. I had just battle against gaelic army commanded by full command faction leader.

I managed to rout their army but the commanders mormaers still resisted. I sent my legionaries (3 full strengh legio comitatenses units, dont remember name but they can be recruited in Britannia) to deal with them. But the damn mormaers routed them all, including the light foederati skirmishers and light infantry even though they were exhausted, completely surrounded, outnumbered atleast 10 to 1 and all their friends running away. Finally my cataphracts + all remaining troops (archers, militia, skirmisher cavalry) beat them up, but I lost so many legionaries that I cant continue my campaign to conquer Britannia for now.

If they was meant to be so powerful, then sorry about this topic. Quess I have to just tear them down with missiles next time.

    Yes, mormaers are super killers!!!

I have been able to beat them off killing the original gaelic faction leader Angus, not before he killed tens of my men.
The Legio Comitatenses you are talking about are Britones Seniores.

Against mormaers you must use good archers/better Ballistae and heavy cavalry as Clibinarii/cataphractii/ but better Stablesiani and Candidatii (which i gave 2 hitpoints instead of julianus original 1, cause i think general must have 2 and cause mormaers do have 2!!!)

I won the battle against Angus army (2000 men with 1 unit mormaers and 3 units elite chaodaer) using 2800 men, i lost 1500 in the assault, they were in Inchuhtill city to the north.

Don't use Legios, they aren't good for that kind of beasts...at least Legio Palatinae Seniores...but better archers/Ballistae and heavy cavalry

That's good to know, Traiano - I have a Comitatus north of the Wall ravaging the Pictish hinterlands. Dal Riada was successfully invested and ransacked but so far no Pictish forces have dared muster against the exhausted Romans after an initial warband which was easily beaten off. I never realised these Mormaers were so deadly! I may just rethink my strategy here . . .

Gentlemen, are you referring to the charioteers or the infantry, or both?

What? The Picts have charioteers? Damn Mithras! No one told the Roman commanders north of the Vallum . . . I hope they aren't in for a shock on the retreat back to Britannia Secunda!
