The life and adventures of Flavuis Jullius and Domitius Scipio.

    part one.

He sat on his horse, his back straight and neck held high with pride. Hannibal had moved out of Calabria with suprising speed and had seased
Paestum from under his nose. Falvius was eager for revenge.
The night before his men had oiled there armour untill it had shone like silver in the sun. This is what he had been waiting for, this is what all the time drilling had been for. He had drilled his men untill there mucles where numb and aching. this is what it was for. Hannibal's troops had already killed 35,000 Good, honest Romans, he would not be one of them. His men where confident as they had always been, they trusted him with there lives, and he they. if he told them to march to the ends of the earth, they would just because it was him asking. He had been there, in rome as the news came in of the defeat, at Trebia this is where hannibal would learn his lesson, he would feel Hard cold roman Iron tearing through his flesh.

The men where shouting insults at the carthagininans hiting swords and speers on sheilds, daring them to try them. The baby killers will die today he thought. He trotted his horse along the lines. the quality of the troops could not be denied. He would decimate them.
A horn sounded amoungst the carthaginian lines and then they came. "sound the warning horn" he said. and it too sounded, echoing throughout the landscape. now he was behind his lines on a hill watching as the battle was taking place before his eyes. the young men of the hastati where thrown aback by the force of the carthaginians and where being pushed back. the principeis however held firm. They where more expeirienced and hardened men. wave after wave of them broke against there lines, the wen where growing tired. And then the Great monsters of Africa came running they come, charging the ground shaking with there steps. They where truly huge. "ELEPHANTS!" Domitius screemed. The hastati where in a trance now, the huge beast's charging at them. Almost filling there vision now. "Loose formation! Now!" he screemed again and the hastati responded loosening there formation now ther was atleast a meter between each man, this was an extrememly difficult manouver to pull off in the midst of battle, and many men had meen lost but all knew it would save many more. The veleties released there javelins and sent them flying over domitus's head and plumeting into the elephants flesh, and this enraged them more. They still came, they would not stop. One of the beest was infront of him now, on its hind legs, roaring. It was all he could see, all he could hear. He dropped his sheild and with gladius in hand he ran at the beast. he would not have long untill it returned to all fours. He took a Mighty leep towards the beast, drew his sword back over his head and with both hand's pnunged it into the beast's chest. The wait of his body drew the sword downwards. The beast's guts where falling out now. The extrordinary act of bravery inspired the men and they would not waver now, they would keep fighting. "Pilla!" He Shouted.

And they drew theye Pilla from behind there sheilds and threw them through the air at the beasts, arrows and rocks would just bounce off of
    there thick hides.

    part two.
Flavius was on the hill watching the battle. It had happened as planned so far. but the lines where braking and holes where forming where the main bulges of carthaginians were. He had seen domitius's actions and had many plans for him, if he survived the battle. He ordered his gaurd into a charge sounding his horn. the troops would here it and know he was coming into battle, wich would highten there morale knowing that there ganeral was fighting with them. His pulse was racing as he held his sword in hand, His gaurd smashed into the flank of a group of men, one of them lunged at his head and he doged it just, he quickly countered with a slash at the soldiers throat and he fell, blood oozing from his wound. Flavius would not be beeten not now, not after he had come so far. He killed another with a blow to the head, all the time advancing in a frenzy of blood and death. Another unit of men had been dispached from hannibals reserves into the fray. He kept going, he would not stop, not now, he dispatched of another slashing at his arm, making the man drop his sword, and then finishing him off with a fine lunge toward the throat. now he was in the middle of the mass, sorounded by the enemy, and the neerest frendly soldier 20 meteres away, he would surely die if he could not get out of it. "Men to me, to me!" he shouted. He ducked down and retreived his horn from one of his saddle bags and blew on it, it went out across the plain. And they new he was in trouble. His men pushed to get to him. Another soldier lunged for him and he swiped the man's hand off before smacking him over the back of the head with the hilt of his gladius. The man fell to the floor, his skull crushed. "To me!" he repeated, by now five men had gathered around him. The rest were making good progress. now they started to cut there way back to the rest of the men.

Domitius and the velitese had routed the elephants and the men who where supporting them. now they wheeled around and started to attack the carthaginians flank, they killed many and the carthaginians started to rout from the feild. they persued them killing as many as possible untill returning to the main force. More and more of them started to rout and the soldiers who had been fighting them attacked the rest from behind. and eventualy they all routed. including the one's that had trapped Flavius, Flavius had slayed Hannibal personaly.
Flavius and the army returned to the camp and the cooking fires had been lit and the meat was cooking, sending a nice smell through the air.
"quincus, Get me my officers, tell them to meet me in the command tent."

    part three.

He poured some wine into his cup as he sat in his chair at the end of the table. the command tent was simpy furnished. "well men, it has been a great victory for us today. We have defeated hannibal, and now they fear us, i have seen extreem acts of bravery on the feild today, those men will be rewarded. Starting with Domitius, You have shown extreme courage and bravery today, for this i Award to you 200 denarii and a large estate outside capua and command of the new legion being formed up north, congratulations domitius. You will join me on my conquests of greece to come. I reward to every man in the legion double wage and there choice of armour and loot from the carthaginian dead, one item each, the rest will be added to the treasury of our great nation. And to my other officers i ask for a list of men deserving promotion at my tent by next dawn. You are dismissed, break open the wine and make merry for this is a victory and it will be celebrated." "Thank you sir", domitius said salouting as he left.

He spent the rest of the night preparing plans for an invasion of greece, he and domitius's legion would meet at taras, and from there they would board the ships, he had ordered the preperation himself. 26 qunqerimes would take them to greece, it would cost aproximatley 25,000 denarii to build and prepare the ships, men, and supplies needed for the invasion. though it would be quick. he would landat Appolina, capturing it. then he would replenish his legions, and the possibly another would be sent over from the mainland, it all depended on money, wich was drying up.

Im surprised no one has even commented on this yet, probably most of them are busy though...

This is a good aar, but you need work with spacing, chapter headings (make different sizes for the the chapters) and you definetly need screens. Its a nice way of keeping people looking at your aar, even if you don't actual screenshots, look at my SPQR AAR (link in signature) it is a different way of incorporating pictures without using fraps and screenshots.
