Default False asumption on AI attacks?

So I thought that the Germans for instance only attack you when stepping on their turf, but now they just attacked me out of nowhere.

So, was I assuming wrong? Can I expect the Dacians marching in the next turn as well? And are there ways to reduce attacks?(I heard of sending 3-4 stacks to guard borders???)

hehe welcome to the nightmare, Well this was most talked, but i can tell you the germans and the greeks, and gauls are the most agressive, when you have borders next to then, the dacians are more passive they wont atack you if you dont provoce then, still no guaranties. also incresing legions numbers on your borders, only delay germans and AI atacks, AI needs time to build a force to macth yours, still i belive the most efective way to deal with constant massive invaions, is to have the more borders with them as possible, i mean streach your frontiers with that faction, so they can be more spread in their atacks, i did this with the gauls and greeks, and worked like a charm. It give me time to increse my population. You have to keep agressive atitude in order to survive. But manage well when in offensive in enemy territories.

Ah well, I was hoping...luckilly I got the boot, Sicily and Sardinia wile 1 stack was holding the Gauls around Arrettia, Aminium and Patavium. So I will be able to send more stacks right now, also as I enslaved all captured city's and hired lots of mercs I don't expect population problems apart from Sicily which was used to fill up principes and triari ranks + quinbiremes.

LOL, godda love SPQR for its challenge.

And if you do proceed to capture the cities up on Italian peninsula, you will actually border them. But happened to me before, they can march through some territories to attack you. The BIGGEr the army you station on your entire border, the better your chance of reppeling them. It leads tho to AI bringing the supa force so he can crack it all open. But you win that way
