Default Can You Get Fit in Six Minutes a Week?

Well: Can You Get Fit in Six Minutes a Week?

I am all in favor of this idea. I exercise intensely after stretching and flexibility 3-5 times a week. After years of not exercising consistently, this works for me.

btw -- I have been doing this in 3 short 1/2 minute bursts on an exercise bike. It lowered my blood pressure and seems to do better than my failed attempts at more normal exercise where too many sessions get skipped.

Now that one really sounds interesting. If it really works, it's ideal for anyone who hasn't got that much time and/or will to do exercises of a longer duration.
As far as I know you're going to specialize in one field of endurance though, because there are different types of muscle fibres that are suited for different kinds of activity.
You've got slow twitch muscle fibres. They've got a fairly low overall power output but can maintain this output for a long time. That'd be the typical muscle fibre that you'd want to train as a long-distance runner.
Then you've got the fast twitch muscle fibres. Conversely to the slow twitch ones, they've got a high power output but cannot maintain that output for very long. So they're the kind that you'd want to train as a sprinter, weight-lifter etc.
Check this Wiki-Link for some details about this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skeletal_muscle

The thing that I see about this kind of exercise is this: You will improve your performance concerning short-term high-intensity activities. You probably won't increase your long-distance performance by that much, though (compared to your general performance before training, you will be better of course). It all comes down to personal preferences at that point.
Either you're fit for long distances or short distances. In any case, you're going to get healthier and fitter.

Make it 24 hours a day a week, it has to be an entire lifestyle thing not a token gesture.
