But mark me well; Religion is my name;
An angel once: but now a fury grown,
Too often talked of, but too little known.

I still like the first trailer better though, the unknown element.

Rather impressive
It looks stupid.
It's going to be a roller coaster of eye candy, but then again it's Roland Emmerich so I'm holding my breath on how the actual story shapes up.

The trailer paints a picture of an over the top struggle between Man and Nature/God (not sure which yet), which will end with either the family surviving, "against the odds", or dead, but together in one final, heart-felt embrace before a giant wave (or something like it) crushes them beneath an aircraft carrier (which looked very funny, in an incredibly ridiculous sort of way). So, yes, the movie looks ****ing stupid.
Cool effects, but the basis of the movie is so painfully stupid it makes Twilight look brilliant.
This type of film-making has a rotten heart. Many people believe in the Mayan calender BS and those that don't will look it up and be influenced by this film, which will just serve to fill the coffers of grubby suits in Hollywood. I almost wish people will commit mass suicide so Hollywood takes a good look at it's fear-mongering and people become less susceptible to this hokey phrophecy nonsense, but thats probably unlikely (I hope). There's disaster movies, and there's playing on people's beliefs. When you have an apocalyptic scene of the Vatican collapsing you feed both Christian and the mayan visions of the end times. Alot of people believe in one or the other, if not both. This type of hysteria-fed movie-making (and it's only 2009 now) is a kid playing with his dad's gun- sooner or later it'll end badly.
Also, did I see an... air-lifted giraffe?!?

Sure I've been called a xenophobe, but the truth is Im not. I honestly feel that America is the best country and all other countries aren't as good. That used to be called patriotism.
