    Default This mod is strange...

I finally got to install DLV4.0 and I immediatly booted up a Sicily Campaign to see what the hype is all about. And I'm not seeing it, I can't play about... 7 of the factions because of a freak CTD when I click on their faction symbols in the Grand Campaign section.

Also, could someone tell me why there are Aztec's in the freaking Sahara?

And I can't play version 6.0 because I can't get the installation thing to work, it starts but then it waits and shows 1 line for 1 second and then "magically" disappearing.

The map looks like Rome:TW all over again... but with shinier resources, dunno if this is different with the 6.0 version.

This is all very frustrating, everyone is talking all good about this mod and I can't even play it for the whole 100% without bugs...

ha ha... 4.0 is like a lost child, left behind the hird. Are you using Vista? Steam?
Thorolf was thus armed. Then Thorolf became so furious that he cast his shield on his back, and, grasping his halberd with both hands, bounded forward dealing cut and thrust on either side. Men sprang away from him both ways, but he slew many. Thus he cleared the way forward to earl Hring's standard, and then nothing could stop him. He slew the man who bore the earl's standard, and cut down the standard-pole. After that he lunged with his halberd at the earl's breast, driving it right through mail and body, so that it came out at the shoulders; and he lifted him up on the halberd over his head, and planted the butt-end in the ground. There on the weapon the earl breathed out his life in sight of all, both friends and foes. [...] 53, Egil's Saga
I must tell you here of some amusing tricks the Comte d'Eu played on us. I had made a sort of house for myself in which my knights and I used to eat, sitting so as to get the light from the door, which, as it happened, faced the Comte d'Eu's quarters. The count, who was a very ingenious fellow, had rigged up a miniature ballistic machine with which he could throw stones into my tent. He would watch us as we were having our meal, adjust his machine to suit the length of our table, and then let fly at us, breaking our pots and glasses.

Why in God's name are you playing 4.0?

That version is ancient history mate... Most of the really cool stuff didn't make it in until much later.

Please don't judge the mod on a version that nobody in their right mind has played in well over a year!!!

Sorry I missed that mate... But don't play 4 though, just ask for help on the board. Wish I could help but I don't have Vista. Good Luck

    DLV_60 = 001DLV_60.exe + 002DLV_60.exe
    - install kingdoms patch 1.5 !!!!!
    - delete all old DLV's
    - Download both parts of DLV_60: 001, 002,.....only the first part 001 has the necessary exe file for unifying the parts
    - Unify both parts 001, 002 into DLV_60.exe by clicking on Part 001 (and decide where to store it) Don't click on part 002 !!!!!!!!!
because of the filesize it will take severall minutes before you can see any reaction.. patience
    - then extract the unified DLV_60.exe now into the mods folder similar to other mods:
because of the filesize it will take severall minutes before you can see any reaction.. patience
    - Execute the unified file DLV_60.exe and enter the correct path for the installation
Example for english people: C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods
(For Germans change it to: C:\Programme\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods !!!!)
    - Decide on the last installation page if you want a non_english sound installation
    - Mod is installed under C:\Programme\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods\DLV_ext

    1. Download both part 1 & part 2 into 1 folder. (DO NOT TOUCH THEM).
    2. When both part 1 & part 2 is in the same folder(un-touched), ONLY press part 1.
    3. Automaticly. They will unite into 1 single file. Now THIS file is the normal installation you find every else.
Start over, if you do it any other way.

It goes wrong at the unifying part, I click the 001 part and then this happens:
    C:\Users\Berghout\DOWNLO~1\DLV_60\001DLV~1.EXE
The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction.
    CS:122c IP:032e OP:63 68 65 73 2c Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.

Then I have two options to close or ignore, If I press ignore then the last line (CS: whatever) changes a bit. Thats all.

This install is basically done in the same manner as the Third Age and Stainless Steel installer no? If so then why is Vista invoking the NTVDM sub system when it is (most likely) a install shield script?

I have never seen this problem before. Are you 100% sure you redownloaded the whole thing the second time after you 1st failed to install. As I also said, some areas need extra time:
because of the filesize it will take severall minutes before you can see any reaction.. patience
Other then that I can't help you, since I don't got Vista myself.

redownload and then try to install again
"we're way way pre-alpha and what that means is there is loads of features not just in terms of the graphics but also in terms of the combat and animations that actually aren't in the game yet.So the final game is actually gonna look way way better than this!” - James Russell, CA
Just like the elephant animation, this Carthage scenario is actually in the game, it just has a small percantage factor for showing up, that's all...
