Default New video card and my game still lags!?

Yesterday I installed my new video card (1024MB Radeon HD 4650). ETW runs perfectly, never a hint of lag. So I went into Roma Surrectum assuming I could set everything to high, which I did. But the game lags quite a lot. I am totally miffed. Then I set everything to medium, that didnt improve things much. Whats my problem?

    here are my system stats
processor: AMD Phenom 8450 triple core 2.10 ghz
    memory: 4 GB
    1024MB Radeon HD 4650
    vista 64 bit operating system

Rome shouldnt lag at all right?

You will still get some Lagtime at times, But if your getting to much lag time re-check your system settings, video settings and game settings and step back a bit on the graphics of the game.

I'll have to lower the settings a bit then.

Hum very strange, are you using vista? becouse i hv xp, and pentium IV 2.6 800 Hgz and 1 Giga de Ram
Also my card is 250 Megabytes Nvidia GS 7600 and i dont have lag, on large Settings, and on Huge settings, only in big battles of course i lower anti-alasing. but it works like a charm.

Well.. it might have something to do with multi core support. ETW can play big battles fine because all of your CPU cores will be used to play the game. RTW doesn't have this feature, so only one of your cores will be used. So basically, you end up with CPU performance worse than some P4s.

There was a sort-like discussion going on in the 'Is RTW getting old'-thread . Apparently , M2:TW (and also E:TW) make better use of coding stuff , and all other stuff i don't really get , whereas RTW is somewhat unorganized , and makes less use of good specs and stuff .. Eventually , it comes down to this : When you have specs that can run M2:TW perfectly , M2:TW will run better than RTW , cause RTW doesn't use the specs on a good way (it was something like that )

E;TW yes, M2TW no. Neither RTW nor M2TW were designed with multiple core's in mind and hence neither will make use of multiple core or even multiple CPUs.

Also, if you are running Vista and DirectX 10, performance will suck for ALL games. DirectX10 was a POS. I've heard that 10.1 is better, but I don't know if it's out yet.
