I changed things like
character Gaius Julius, named character, leader, command 0, influence 0, management 0, subterfuge 0, age 39, , x 22, y 48
traits Brave 1 , NaturalMilitarySkill 4 , GoodCommander 2 , GoodAttacker 1 , Intelligent 1 , StrategicSkill 1 , RhetoricSkill 1 , PoliticsSkill 1
to
character Gaius Julius, named character, leader, age 39, , x 22, y 48

and
faction_relationships romans_julii, at_war_with gauls, greek_cities, slave
to
faction_relationships romans_julii, 600 gauls, greek_cities, slave
like they are in the imprerial campaign descr_strat. Also changed some char names with ones that exist in the names list and changed some of the factions in the campaign. Could it be any of such things is related to errors like the one i mentioned above?
Edit: I also think the problem happens to regions that the region and/or settlement name is different to the one in imperial campaign.

I never touched the sons of mars files so I have no idea how they are. But that stringtable error usually appears when you add\remove\rename regions, and since you said you didn't do it, it's very strange.
If there were errors in names there should be a CTD with no error.
But really it looked like this?

with command, management...on the first line?? never saw anything like it..
Anyway I would suggest to leave the file structure as they were. I mean, if the original Sons of Mars works, leave those strange command, influence on the first line, leave at_war_with instead of 600...etc etc. Don't care if the structure of descr_strat.txt in Imperial Campaign is different, Sons of Mars is a different thing.
And then, you have to remove all the scripts, speeches, camera auto movements...also this can cause problems.
