What's going on here, i've started with France using the DLV AI i'm at turn 36, I haven't been attacked by any other factions.
Plus other factions haven't really expanded all to much..
When will i face some adversary?

If you are playing 'Default' you should not attack or be attacked for about 40 turns... With most factions there are plenty of tough rebels to keep you busy till you've got a good economy going. But if you really want to pick a fight in 'DLV' before your economy is up and running....Why don't you?
Let me know how that works out for you....![]()
You are probably using the same ol rinse and repeat of putting up a huge battle line and flanking the rear... i got tired of doing that, just try new stuff out like.... have a reserve... make a weak battle line... have some fun with it haha.. if not Medieval 2 just gets old and boring, same with any other TW game...
Oh they will come alright and when they do, you will be glad you had those 40 turns to get your generals experience and build your economy. I haven't played France yet with the total war AI yet but methinks you will have your hands full soon enough, considering all the factions you are bordered with.
I myself am on turn 95 in my English campaign and I'm at war with every single faction that borders me (Danish, France, Germany, Milan, Spanish, Portuguese, Moors). The majority attacked me first too!!! I long gave up bothering to send diplomats to cease hostilities even though my economy could use the boost from new trade pacts. They always want to much in return in order to accept my peace entreaties.
Which faction or region are you prioritizing by the way?
Morty
I played france not long ago. It was a blast.I took out flemish early on, quite easy. England never attacked me from the Isle, so no need to border that area. The hardest part is where you have to fight Denmark, Germany and Milan AND fend of the spanish armanda in the south west!
So I recommend you to build up economy all you can, because you need atleast 2 stacks operating at all times.
EDIT: Make sure you get the pope to close the gap between spain -france with help from the papal state.
Thorolf was thus armed. Then Thorolf became so furious that he cast his shield on his back, and, grasping his halberd with both hands, bounded forward dealing cut and thrust on either side. Men sprang away from him both ways, but he slew many. Thus he cleared the way forward to earl Hring's standard, and then nothing could stop him. He slew the man who bore the earl's standard, and cut down the standard-pole. After that he lunged with his halberd at the earl's breast, driving it right through mail and body, so that it came out at the shoulders; and he lifted him up on the halberd over his head, and planted the butt-end in the ground. There on the weapon the earl breathed out his life in sight of all, both friends and foes. [...] 53, Egil's Saga- The pranks played on the knight Jean de Joinville, 1249, 7th crusade.I must tell you here of some amusing tricks the Comte d'Eu played on us. I had made a sort of house for myself in which my knights and I used to eat, sitting so as to get the light from the door, which, as it happened, faced the Comte d'Eu's quarters. The count, who was a very ingenious fellow, had rigged up a miniature ballistic machine with which he could throw stones into my tent. He would watch us as we were having our meal, adjust his machine to suit the length of our table, and then let fly at us, breaking our pots and glasses.
