    Default Senate: support or challenge?

    The question is simple:

would you like the senate missions to be a support for your faction or a challenge to push you harder?

In the first case you would get reasonably acceptable timings to complete your missions and rewards in 90% of cases for achieving your objective, something useful in the short term if you lack the cash.

Alternatively they could represent requests to establish a policy focus for your faction, with much longer timespan (30 or more turns to take a city for example) but a balanced mix of bonuses (mostly at start) and penalties.

The preference is yours, just remember we cannot control the missions directly or choose the rewards but only change how long it takes for a mission to expire and if you get a reward of penalty.

only certain factions should have a senate and i dont think the senate should give too much of a reward. for some factions its easy enough as it is(rome, carthage) giving them extra help wont help thefun factor.

Senate missions can be for up to 3 factions anyway so that's a given.

I voted challenge. If they are to be a senate they should give the player some headache. Preferebly I would like to be so strong that if the player started war on a friendly faction he would be dethroned from power and thrown to the beasts and the AI would control the faction henceforth.

Remember that we cannot control senate randomness in choosing objectives.
Too challenging and it becomes frustrating.
The current version in 3.2.4 is halfway between the two proposals, giving some feedback on how that feels would be good to help me in balancing future versions.

I voted challenge. It seems more realistic to have a senate kiss you on your way to war and spit at you when you return..... as long as I can get revenge in the end?

I know this maynot go with plans for XC, but I can't help but think there should be a Roman Senate faction if Rome has a senate. I love smashing the Rebublic and establish iron imperial rule.

Well, I could easily enable the missions for Rome too but there won't be a roman senate to crush...

You could always do that with Carthage though, showing them what the barcids are made of...

We still need a Barcids in Iberia provincial campaign. A sort of prelude to the second Punic war.

Expand your borders, a mod based on XGM 5.

What we could do is the carthaginian mercenary war campaign.
The player could start with Sardinia, iberian provinces and Hadrumetum in africa (plus Carthage in non-senate version), with the rest owned by an hostile EK representing the rebel mercenaries and lybians.
You would start with a handful of untrained civic troops, having to rebuild your military infrastructure and reconquer africa from EK.

EDIT: For some reason I cannot split the thread, will open a new one for this.
