    Default "Please Insert Correct Disc"

Like Tyranus I also have the "Please Insert the Correct Disc" problem: having installed the game properly, including Kingdoms, the computer is unable to recognize Disc 1 of M2TW so that I can play the normal campaign. All four expansion campaigns run without problems. I have never experienced a problem with my DVD drive, and would love to find a legal solution so that I don't have to go to the trouble of downloading M2TW.

Furthermore, when I launch the game directly from within the game files (ie without the Demoshield launcher) it loads for a few seconds, including showing me a picture of some knights, before it suffers an unspecified error.

Is there anything I can do other than buy another drive?

If everything else is good, it's Disc 1. Clean the disc for dirt, fingerprints, food, and other foreign material, check it over real good for scratches, cracks in the plastic, chips in the outer and or inner edges.

Sorry, I should have mentioned I've done that already. There are a few tiny scratches, but it certainly doesn't look unplayable, and it installed the entire game without a problem. Is there any relevant patch I can legally download, or anything? All I wanted was to play Broken Crescent, is there a way I can do that without disc 1?

Legally no. They might be enough if in the right place. Some prople have been able to use car wax or furniture polish to fill in the scratches. I haven't tried it myself so you're on your own.

Okay, the problem is fixed. I needed to take my dvd, squirt Colgate Cavity Protection all over it and then gently massage the scratches with a q-tip. I found the process online. No joke, that was what it took. Thanks for your patience irishron.

Good thing for Colgate. You're welcome.
