    Default Orc and Nazgul generals

Something that striked me as a modder when first playing Mordor is the fact that there seem to be two types of generals with two different bodyguards.
Ive always assumed that MTW2 would allow only one model for generals (though multiple for leaders/heirs) and only one bodyguard type.

Now i am scratching my head furiously as i never found an answer to this question in neither forum nor tutorial....

It's possible as you said, just look at Mordor. I think EB II for RTW also has this feature.

I have no idea though how it's possible.

I think the multiple generals stratmodel function comes from Britannia which came with kingdoms,
I'm not sure, it could have been there before too.

And it's easy to change battlemodels and bodyguard, for spawned generals and generals that have been there
from the beginning. The rest will have the one and same general and bodyguard..

    This is how it work
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    strat_model mordor_general << Effect level 0
    strat_model mordor_general <<< Effect level 1
    strat_model witchking <<< Effect level 2
    strat_model nazgul <<< Effect level 3

If a general has a trait(the nazgul trait) which have "effect level 3" he get's Nazgul strategic model

If a general get's effect level 2 (from Factionleader trait in this case) he get's Witchkings strategic model.

And no effects they get effect level 0

and here we got how the bodyguard and battlemodel works for generals
    from the beginning, in descr_strat
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    character Nazgula, named character, male, leader, age 35, x 290, y 138, portrait nazgul1, battle_model witchking, hero_ability The_Heart_of_the_Lion ;gorgoroth
    traits Factionleader 1 , LoyaltyStarter 3 , GoodCommander 3 , BattleScarred 2, BattleDread 1 , CaptorDread 1 , GoodAttacker 1 , NightBattleCapable 1
    ancillaries ring_nazgul, king_mordor
    army
    unit Black Numenorians exp 3 armour 0 weapon_lvl 0
    unit Orc Band exp 0 armour 0 weapon_lvl 0
    unit Orc Band exp 0 armour 0 weapon_lvl 0
    unit Orc Band exp 1 armour 0 weapon_lvl 0
    unit Mordor Orcs exp 0 armour 0 weapon_lvl 0
    unit Mordor Scouts exp 0 armour 0 weapon_lvl 0
    unit Mordor Scouts exp 0 armour 0 weapon_lvl 0

    and normal orc general

    character Shaglur, named character, male, age 32, x 273, y 149 ;udun
    traits LoyaltyStarter 1 , GoodCommander 1, BattleDread 1 , Bloodthirsty 1 , NightBattleCapable 1
    ancillaries morannon
    army
    unit Uruk Bodyguards exp 0 armour 0 weapon_lvl 0
    unit Orc Band exp 1 armour 0 weapon_lvl 0
    unit Orc Band exp 0 armour 0 weapon_lvl 0
    unit Mordor Orcs exp 0 armour 0 weapon_lvl 0
    unit Mordor Scouts exp 0 armour 0 weapon_lvl 0

No battlemodel, then he get's the standard battlemodel that is controlled in descr_character

and for spawned generals in campaign_script

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    monitor_event FactionTurnStart FactionType england
    and I_SettlementOwner Gorgoroth = england
    and I_TurnNumber = 150

    spawn_army
    faction england
    character Nazgulf, named character, age 34, x 290, y 138, portrait nazgul6, battle_model mounted_nazgul
    traits Nazgul 1, LoyaltyStarter 3 , GoodCommander 3 , BattleScarred 2, BattleDread 1 , CaptorDread 1 , NightBattleCapable 1
    unit Black Numenorians exp 3 armour 1 weapon_lvl 0
    end
    set_counter nazgul 1
    terminate_monitor
    end_monitor

For Rome Total War, this function was available first in Alexander TW

Well, it is possible to change the battle model during the game, only throught a script however..

From Teutonic, it should be possible to modify it to anyones needs.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    ;--------------- HOCHMEISTER BATTLE MODEL -----------------;

;apply the Hochmeister battle_model to the Teutonic Order faction leader whenever a new leader is assigned
    monitor_event BecomesFactionLeader FactionType teutonic_order

    change_battle_model teutonic_order leader Teutonic_Hochmeister

    end_monitor

@Souka: Stratmodel = strategic map model. Are we talking about the same thing?
And also it's easy to make recruitable generals.

Actually RS (Roma surrectum for rome total war) have multiple bodyguards. In that mod you can recruit (governors=foot generals/generals=mounted generals) wich can be used as captains with different models than the original generals.

Not hard, but you were wrong.

    Orc generals = family members
    Nazgul = Their own model
    Witchking = factionleader

Witch King = Nazgul, I think

And leader is different from member anyways, I think... on battlemap, that is.

One is family member, and one is general...
Nazgul = general, in that case...

EDIT: Read your post above... pfft, why make it that hard?

    haha

All familymembers and generals have orc stratmodels.
Witchkings stratmodel works throught factionleader trait,
And nazgul stratmodels works throught Nazgul trait.

If an orc is factionleader, he'll get witchkingsstratmodel,
and if witchking have the nazgul trait he will use nazgul stratmodel.

And if witchking doesn't have the factionleader trait he uses orc stratmodel.

My first experience with all this was when updating this little mod here

its indeed possible to change leader/heir models (both battle and strat) though impossible for other generals.
