Fountain Guard a bit weak?

I tested them in a custom battle against the Warriors of Mithlond and they lost badly.I thought they would be good due to their high cost. Or are they just good vs cavalry?

WoM are the best Heavy-Infantry if you ask me. Fountain-Guards are usefull against light-infantry, archer and cavallary.
Heavy-Infantry can out-counter them easily.

Most important is the Spearwall!

Mithlond has the best deffence, if you use them tactical they are the best infantry ingame.
I only use them to tap down the enemy forces than I charge them from behind with cavalary.

Also WoM is able to stand Spearmen and Light-Infantry very easy.

I don't get it in my Third Age game they have 18 defense. Swan Knights 19, Dragonslayers 20, Iron Guards 23.

I find the foutian Guard to be deadly. I ran 6 of them with 3 xp and 1 wep buff on the campaign, against Mordor they beat almost a full stack of Orc raiders, scouts, 1 unit of trolls 2 catapults and some other orc infantry. They are deadly. Not as deadly as Dwarf Pikeman but still.

In Tolkiens universe Elves are better than almost everything. In Melee, in Ranged combat... Don`t matter.

The dwarfs are clumsy compared to the elves, a elf would have no problem avoiding dwarfs melee attack due to their high agility.
