    Default fighting mechanics

will the fighting between individual soldiers be the same or will it be a little more realistic. maybe resembling M2TW. if not, will the kill ratio be quick or longlasting. Frankly watching slow kill ratio
is just not realistic. compared to M2TW there's something to watch between individual soldiers when the battle ensues. Im only asking because ive heard you guys have been trying to reverse engineer M2TW. what have you tried or done regarding fighting mechanics

Why look at the soldiers when you can look at the environment??
Honestly I don't know if we have done any thing about the animations.

The M2TW fight engine is somewhat different. No we haven't changed anything there, and yes battles will be pretty longlasting, but hopefully there'll be other things to keep you occupied during the battles, like avoiding defeat.

I find that when say a Hellenistic Hoplite unit such as a Hoplites of Syracuse Units fight in non-guard mode they take casualties VERY fast - formation seems to be essential for hoplites - even Spartans (was this intentional to emphasize the importance of keeping hoplites in formation?) anyway to remain on topic iv'e noticed while in guard mode a fight between said hoplites and other medium quality and upwards units take FOREVER as only a few of the hoplites as the front are actually fighting - the rest stay in the block or line - this would suggest individual k/d rates are quite low - for hoplites at least.

From the Hoplite battles I have been experiencing in the beta, I think you can put your mind at rest about that particular problem. They slog it out when guard mode isn't on and the kill rate isn't very fast at all.
