real elf armies have at least 9 units of archers
the rest vary
This is not a scam, trust me!
Depends on how much you trust me I guess
Oh Yeh, Heres the first Helms Deep video I made! -never got around to making an updated one-> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kdcfj5MT0lA
HAHAHA! Very funny!
From the Silmarillion.
And when Melkor saw that these lies were smouldering, and that pride and
anger were awake among the Noldor, he spoke to them concerning weapons; and
in that time the Noldor began the smithying of swords and axes and spears.
Shields also they made displaying the tokens of many houses and kindreds that
vied one with another; and these only they wore abroad, and of other weapons
they did not speak, for each believed that he alone had received the warning. And
Fëanor made a secret forge, of which not even Melkor was aware; and there he
tempered fell swords for himself and for his sons, and made tall helms with
plumes of red.
Noldor didn't know what a bow was until they met the Silvan Elves they were primarily Heavy Infantry and Cavalry and they used Axes aplenty.
Noldor the hard-core amoungst the Elves....

Teleri Had bows at the Kinslaying? Well I woudlen't doubt the possibility of that but nothing I've seen supports it until after the Two Trees went down. If you have a quote please post it and the source woudl like to know if that is the case.
The Elves appear to have had no real need for weapons of any sophistication before the slaying of the two trees in Valinor. Bows are the ultimate missle weapon before guns I would assume that maybe they might have had Javelins and such for fishing..that is if they werent vegetarians or something... it's rather Misty hehe

I have a dutch version of the silmarillion, but it clearly says that the Teleri lost because they had only light bows
If people isnt over the minimum standard of living... lower the standard..
if there is too much poverty in a sociaty, lower the poverty line... my qoutes... comment them if you will...
Here is the passage that mentions bows at Alqualonde....Page 99 Flight of the Noldor: Thus at last the Teleri were overcome and a great part of their mariners that dwelt in Aqualonde were slain, for the the Noldor were become fierce and desperate, and the Teleri had less strength, and were armed for the most part with slender bows.
Morgoth put doubt and suspicion in the minds of Feanor and Fingolfin which influenced the sons of Finwe to forge many weapons of war because mistrust for eachother.

Early army:
General, half army of light archers, twice less light infantry than archers.
Late army:
General, 2-4 heavy cavalary, 6-8 elven/eldar archers, the rest is a mix of swordsmen/spearmen.
Battle line looks like this:
CC CC AA AA AA AA AA AA AA AA CC CCHI HI HS HS HS HS HI HIGENERAL
Cavalary on flanks, archers in front. Infantry behind the archers, spread thin to cover the whole archer line. Heavy Swordsmen flank the Spearmen set in shieldwall.
When enemy aproaches infantry moves forward, archers move back behind their cover. Cavalary takes care of skirmishers/enemy cavalary, archers save arrows for most dangerous enemy infantry. With that attitude you will win every battle.
Edit: the battle line doesnt look good when in post. Sorry for that.

In the early stages your army will consist of Light Elven Archers, some Elven Archers, Elven Infantry and Generals. Later you will get more Elven Archers, and Eldar Archers, and also Eldar Spearmen and Eldar Swordsmen. And of course Eldar Lancers and Generals. HE doesn`t have many units, so I would say it`s quite obvious.
In the early game i often use many archers, 1-2 general units and at most 1-2 units of infantry. Elven generals are a MIGHT on the battlefield and together with some archers you send most orc filth routing after a few minutes of battle. The Infantry is mostly used while defending city walls.
Later i still use many archers and even more cavalry, but more infantry, too.
Later when Trolls show up you want a few soldiers to protect your "soft" archers.
Personally i dislike the 2-handed swordsman. Yes, the 2-handed bug of vanilla should be fixed, but they still feel rather weak.
I find them a bit unnecessary, too. Orc units are "soft" and often killed by one, good placed, cavalry charge. I don`t really need shock infantry against orcs. They also lack a shield, and though they got some good protection arrows are more dangerous to them than to any other elven infantry unit.
