I already supposed this on Totalwar-zone.de and i'm not really suprised it's true. The lack of maps and the big number of cloned units where the first indication. Next was the announcement of "Free units" and the total ignoring of questions about Modelconverter and Map-editor questions....

And Thamis said on totalwar-zone they do not have any tools, what a scam, it's all about money, nothing more!

I say don't buy them as a lesson to CA; to show that they are heading down the wrong track. Don't worry, I'm sure someone will release them as a mod.

And you don't need to hope for the model converter, cause we have here to much good modders.

Well yesterday shows, that many people are ready and willing to buy the DLC from STEAM... I think the only way to face CA and SEGA is to make a cooperation between the different modding groups and start to produce the tools ourselves. The calculation is easy, the first addon will be released around christmas 2010 i suppose and the second one 2011, and for that instance CA will not be releasing any tools for the modders. At the moment they are not even talking to us, so what the heck, forget them.

WE HAVE TO DO WHAT IS NECESSARY! CA WOULDN'T HELP US A THING! WE WILL NEED MORE CHAPS LIKE LT CHAMBERS AND ALPACA PROVIDING THE TOOLS THAT WE NEED TO DO OUR HOBBY!

The modders helped to make the TW Series to that what it's now and CA treats us like enemies...so we got to unite and help each other.

agree too. Just leave CA games and create our own games. Anyone know this one : http://www.battlefront.com/products/les_grog/

Seems it was a great game idea from a modders community, but it seems the game never been released.

    Well, looks really good!
Problem for our own work is, that there are many skilled modders, but a small group of programmers who could create tools, as long only lt chambers and alpaca and Lordz are the only sources to make "FREE" tools for the modders, we got a kind of a problem here. They will not come out of nowhere, we got to find the skilled programmers and ask them to create something for us. In fact, there have to be some guys, who want to do some work for university and stuff. If anyone knows such guys (and ladies ...) ask them for help.

May be we even could start a contest or stuff, for the best modding tool, I've seen contest on this forum for writing and artwork, but not for programming, so set it up...

Yes, i heard that a lot, seems that there were too many changes in the db files and changes to the roster, in fact for mods the last patch was mayhem, almost every patch that handled the db crashes now, because the db is patched and the old files we used are needless now

Especially those mods, that use the patch-format to be able to play MP need rework. Also those, who replace tables. If i take my own naval battle-mod as an exaple: i have the full unit-table in the mod. now that there are new units for land, those are in the unit_stats_land, as i didn't change it, but not in the unit-table. As a result the game will crash. I may rework this, if i calmed down a bit...

There seems to be many talented modders here so why can't we go the next step and create our own engine? There's some great dev tools out there - NeoAxis - Torque etc. We might be able to create a far better game than TW, ie Real time, true multiplayer (each player controls a faction within each nation etc)

Main problem is that modding communities first of all have modeler and skinner and just a few programmers. But to make a complete own game, you need programmers in the first place. Even if you are useing an engine like torque (which is wonderful as it supports up to 64 players online), there is a lot programming to do. Tweaking a KI is much different from programming your own.

If you have 5 or 6 very talented programmers with a lot time, it might be an opportunity, but i doubt you will find them here. We hardly have enough to make some tools for etw...

Well I know just 1 IT Manager, who worked in the US for the last years and even as she don't know anything about this , may be she got some connection to anyone who does, second possibility would be (much harder to do) to ask my ex girlfriend if she could ask her brother who worked in seattle for microsoft, but as she's not well to speak to me, that is almost a no go for me. Third possibility is to ask an old chump who studied programming and living in berlin nowadays, he's also a gaming freak, and if I could track him up, he would be a possible source.
I'll try that out. But don't set your hope on me, as far I don't know if they even could help anyway

Before you "create" another TW game ask JeromeGrasdyke about your problems. If he ignores you then you can take these steps.

It won't be another TW, it will be alot better - TRUE multiplayer, TRUE real time, REALISTIC game play .. and yes, it would take a full team of exceptional developers and alot of hard graft to do! .. and Alot of money .. none of which I have!

Seriously, I hope DLC promotes ETW and encourages SEGA to release a SDK. If SEGA works with users there can be a good relationship, if they see players as the enemy ...
