I changed unit size and number of artillary pcs but it doesnt show up in campiagn or custom. i understand there is a code that nid to de instill in launcher shortcut like --io.file_first but where shd i put it? Pls Advise "C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\Launcher.exe" where shd i put tis --io.file_first which part![]()
In your main Medieval 2 Total War folder, open preferences.cfg with notepad and scroll down to the bottom and type this:
[io]Then save and close the file. Right click on the icon of preferences.cfg and go to properties. From there check the box next to read only and click apply. This will stop the game changing the file to the original content after one run. This way will not allow you to use show_err to find bugs. You have to run from a batch file for that but it does allow mods to work.
file_first = true

doesnt seems to work? which file/s i actually need to edit or instill the code in . is the file call medivel2.preferece or the folder call preference.?![]()
Yes, these changes go into the .preference file. You will never have to edit anything in the /preference/ folder... It's just there to confuse people
If you add "file_first = true" to the [io] category, the game will first look at your modified files before going into its own archived version of them.
Could SigniferOne provide a sketch out or diagram / instruction on how to do it where to put the io.file_first cos i dont seems to get it work .![]()
The instructions are above but you don't appear to know anything about setting up a mod folder.
Either do a little research (the information is all out there on these forums) or if you have kingdoms download the barebones mod (http://www.twcenter.net/forums/downl...o=file&id=1615) which will at least set up everything.
Go to your main medieval 2 total war map, find the file "medieval2.preference.cfg"
and just scroll down and add the line on the picture
Save it, and start the game.

Hmmm thks also a Qns: Do i need to add a space line in between it?![]()
There should be an empty line before [io], so that you can read the text entry easier.
How cme after following instructions provided by expreience modders on the read [io] file_first , my game still dont respond to my new changes ...any other stuffs i nid to do or change?![]()
I am really doubting you added it to the right CFG file. Are you sure you're loading the game THROUGH the cfg file (and not through the launcher)?
He means the .bat.
Starting trough the Kingdoms.exe wont start your mod, instead there should be a .bat file together with your.preferences files in your mod/modname/ folder. Run that and your changes(if done properly in the edu) will be there.
And since you edited the number of artillery pieces, are you sure you edited the right one?
There are several versions of every artillery, you might have changed the middle east one and you are trying the european one.
Also if you are running Vista, make sure you turn UAC off. This can affect whether or not you see the changes in your game or not.
